Why Everyone Refuses to Watch Rex Harrison These Days

[Começa o monólogo do professor Higgins]
Eu não. Sei que no momento
em que uma mulher faz amizade comigo...
...ela se torna ciumenta, exigente...
...desconfiada e muito aborrecida.
No momento em que faço amizade com
uma mulher, torno-me egoísta e tirano.
Aqui estou eu, um solteirão confesso,
e continuarei assim, provavelmente.
E, afinal, Pickering...
Eu estaria igualmente ansioso
Por uma consulta no dentista
Do que deixá-la entrar em minha vida
Sou um homem muito gentil
Equilibrado e de boa índole
De quem não se ouve reclamações
Alguém que tem a gentileza
Correndo pelas veias
Jamais iria

Legend has it that Rex Harrison considered himself the true star during both the original Broadway run of My Fair Lady and the filming of its 1964 Hollywood adaptation. This came in spite of the fact that most of the audience considered his respective female costars in the two productions to be their main drawing point. Rex was cast alongside Julie Andrews in the Broadway play, and he treated her terribly. Julie was a veteran performer, though, and she didn't put up with Rex's bad behavior. The two constantly butted heads and Rex nearly quit the production. For the film, Audrey Hepburn replaced Julie Andrews in the play's lead female role.
Sadly, it seems that Rex Harrison didn’t treat Audrey Hepburn any better than he treated Julie Andrews. In fact, he treated her even worse! Join Facts Verse as we explore why everyone refuses to watch Rex Harrison these days.
