Sky News is a 24-hour international, multi-media news operation based in Britain. It provides non-stop rolling news on television, online, and on a range of mobile devices – as well as delivering a service of national and international radio news to commercial radio stations in the UK. The news service places emphasis on rolling news, including the latest breaking news. Having launched as a 24-hour television news channel in 1989, Sky News has also grown into a digital operation through its website and mobile apps. It is also a content provider for news services in the UK and around the world. John Ryley is the Head of Sky News, being in the role since June 2006.
As with other news channels it has been criticized on occasion for biased reports, many see it having a right-wing stance on reports and highlight it's biased towards the Conservative Party and being anti Labour Party, the producers deny this.
In addition to the domestic television channel, Sky News also hosts localised versions of the channel: Sky News Australia and Sky News Arabia, and previously operated Sky News Ireland. Sky News is also offered in an international version without the British adverts under the name Sky News International available in Europe, Africa, Asia and the United States. It operates Sky News Radio which provides news for many commercial radio stations in the UK, many of them as the news provider for Independent Radio News (IRN). Sky News also provides content for Yahoo! News, and is available on Apple TV and Roku.
Sky News Radio is the radio arm of the Sky News division of British Sky Broadcasting. It has been operating since June 1999, providing a news bulletin service for UK commercial radio stations operators across the UK and for a number of English-speaking radio stations across the world.
Bulletin service
Sky News Radio launched in June 1999 originally providing bespoke bulletins for Talk Radio UK. The service subsequently expanded in October 2001 to provide hourly news bulletins, audio and scripts for clients including UTV Radio, GMG Radio, Global Radio and DNN.
The radio newsroom operated from Sky News' purpose-built studios at Osterley, London. Adverts following peak-time news bulletins were sold via UBC Media and reached more than 80 radio stations.
On 15 October 2008, IRN announced it was switching its main supplier of news from ITN to Sky News Radio, expanding its customer client list by more than 280 stations and giving it a near-monopoly in UK commercial radio news provision.
All-news radio is a radio format devoted entirely to the discussion and broadcast of news.
All-news radio is available in both local and syndicated forms, and is carried in some form on both major US satellite radio networks. All-news stations can run the gamut from simulcasting an all-news television station like CNN, to a "rip and read" headline service, to stations that include live coverage of news events and long-form public affairs programming.
Many stations brand themselves Newsradio but only run continuous news during the morning and afternoon drive times. These stations are properly labeled as "news/talk" talk radio stations. Also, some National Public Radio stations identify themselves as News and Information stations, which means that in addition to running the NPR news magazines like Morning Edition and All Things Considered, they run other information and public affairs programs.
History
According to a Wikipedia site for 1100 KFAX radio in San Francisco, Calif., what had been KJBS radio changed to KFAX in late 1959 when the station changed formats from music, news, and sports, to become the nation's first all-news radio station. However, this experiment proved unsuccessful.
The 99.1MHz frequency was originally WNAV-FM, licensed to Annapolis, Maryland and featuring a beautiful music format. It competed with similar stations in both the Baltimore and Washington markets. In 1983, the station changed calls to WLOM-FM.
Watch live: PM Keir Starmer to unveil 'plans for change' in major speech
The British prime minister will detail ambitious "milestones" for achieving the five missions laid out in Labour's manifesto in a major speech.
Sir Keir Starmer's "plan for change" will promise a named, contactable police officer for every neighbourhood in England and Wales.
He will say: "My government was elected to deliver change, and today marks the next step. People are tired of being promised the world, but short-term sticking plaster politics letting them down.”
But Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has already branded the speech an "emergency reset" after a challenging first five months in office.

Analysis: Why has the Syrian conflict reignited?
Sky News military analyst Sean Bell looks at what's behind the recent violence in Syria and what it means for the region.
Parts of Aleppo were taken over by a rebel group this weekend, with Syrian government forces now preparing for a counterattack.
Russia attacked the rebels in a series of air raids.
But Moscow is tied up in its war with Ukraine, and the regime's allies Hezbollah have been degraded following the war with Israel.

‘Way out of line’: Trump assassination hearing turns into screaming match
A Thursday hearing about both assassination attempts on Donald Trump has devolved into a screaming match.
The hearing covered the Secret Service’s failures in both assassination attempts against the president-elect.
The two involved in the heated exchange were Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe and Republican Representative Pat Fallon.
The outburst started when Fallon showed Rowe a photo of US President Joe Biden and Trump at the 9/11 commemoration ceremony earlier this year.
Fallon argued that if Rowe had been the Special Agent in charge of the security detail, he should’ve been close enough to Biden to appear in the photo.
Rowe responded, saying security detail was close to Biden but out of the camera’s view before he became enraged at Fallon’s question.

The former head of news at Channel 4 has told Sky News that Gregg Wallace is just a "small part of a bigger problem at the BBC and the media industry as whole."
Dorothy Byrne said the alleged incidents showed how the corporation treated big name presenters differently from production staff.
Mr Wallace stepped down as a presenter of MasterChef last week following 13 allegations of inappropriate behaviour over 17 years.
He released a video on Sunday morning saying his accusers were a "handful of middle-class women of a certain age".
Ms Byrne said: "Does he think that young women... want to hear rape jokes, want to be quizzed in smutty detail about lesbian sex? Does he think those young women want to have their breasts stared at and hear about his sex life?"
A BBC spokesperson said: “We take any issues that are raised with us seriously, and we have robust processes in place to deal with them. We are always clear that any behaviour which falls below the standards expected by the BBC will not be tolerated.
“Where an individual is contracted directly by an external production company we share any complaints or concerns with that company and we will always support them when addressing them."

Sky News host Andrew Bolt has exposed ‘signs of panic’ in the Harris camp after she refused an invitation to the Al Smith dinner, which every presidential candidate has attended.
