Sita Devi (Maharani of Baroda)
Maharani Sita Devi Sahib of Baroda, born to Telugu family on 12 May 1917 in Madras, India, died 15 February 1989 in Paris, France. She was known as the "Indian Wallis Simpson". She was a colourful lady who led an extravagant life for over 40 years and was a member of the international jet set.
Biography
Sita Devi was the daughter of the Maharaja of Pithapuram – Sri Raja Rao Venkata Kumara Mahipati Surya Rau Bahadur Garu and his wife Sri Rani Chinnamamba Devi of Mirzapuram.
Sita Devi first married M. R. Apparao Bahadur, Zamindar of Vuyyuru. By him she had one child Rajah M. Viduth Kumar Apparao.
She met her second husband, Pratap Singh Gaekwar of Baroda, at the Madras horse races in 1943. The Gaekwad was, at that time, considered the eighth richest man in the world. It was also reported he was the second richest Indian prince. The Gaekwad was mesmerised by Sita Devi. The lovers consulted with his legal team. The lawyers recommended that the Hindu Sita Devi convert to Mohammedanism. That would dissolve her marriage to the Zamindar under Indian law. She embraced Islam only to then adopt Hinduism once again. The Gaekwad took her as his second wife in 1943, which caused consternation with the British authorities, as this violated the antibigamy laws that the previous Gaekwad of Baroda enacted. The British Viceroy in New Delhi summoned the Gaekwad to contest this marriage. The latter argued that the law applied to the subjects of Baroda, and that he being their monarch was exempt from this law. This was confirmed by the Viceroy's legal advisers. The British government accepted the marriage, but didn't refer to the Maharani as "Her Highness" as was the protocol for the consorts of rulers of princely states.

Sita Devi (Maharani of Kapurthala)
Sita Devi (1915−2002), also known as Princess Karam, was widely regarded as one of the most glamorous women of her day.
She was a daughter of the Raja of Kashipur, a zamindari. At age 13, she married Karamjit Singh, a younger son of the Maharaja Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala.
She was fluent in several European languages and was considered to have a strong sense of style. She was a muse for several photographers from Cecil Beaton to Man Ray.
The Rani’s preferred couturier was Mainbocher, who designed the wedding dress for Wallis Simpson's nuptials with the Duke of Windsor. Sita Devi wore chiffon saris and fur coats, designed by Mainbocher. She was widely followed by the society columns as a trendsetter.
As a popular society figure of the 1930s, she was the inspiration for one of Ira Gershwin's production numbers for the Ziegfeld Follies of 1936. When she was 19 years old, Vogue Magazine anointed her the latest “secular goddess.” Three years later Look named her one of the five best dressed women on earth. The couturier Elsa Schiaparelli was so dazzled by Princess Karam, that the gowns of the designer’s 1935 collection were constructed like Indian saris. In early 1939, at Lady Mendl's tea in honor of the Hollywood Dietitian, Dr. Gayelord Hauser, Sita Devi was listed among the twelve most glamorous women in the world.

Sita
Sita (also spelled Sîta, Seeta or Seetha [ˈsiːt̪aː], 
listen meaning "furrow") also known as Vaidehi, Janaki, Maithili, Bhoomija, is the central female character of the Hindu epic Ramayana and a daughter of King Janak of Janakpur. She is the consort of the Hindu god Rama (avatar of Vishnu) and is an avatar of Lakshmi (Aadi Shakti of Lord Vishnu), goddess of wealth and wife of Vishnu. She is esteemed as a paragon of spousal and feminine virtues for all Hindu women. Sita is known for her dedication, self-sacrifice, courage and purity.
Sita is described as the daughter of the earth goddess Bhūmi and the adopted daughter of King Janaka of Mithila and Queen Sunayna. In her youth, she marries Rama, the prince of Ayodhya. Soon after her marriage, she is forced into exile with her husband and brother-in-law Lakshmana. While in exile, the trio settle in the Dandaka forest, from where she is abducted by Ravana, Rakshasa King of Lanka. She is imprisoned in the Ashoka Vatika of Lanka by Ravana. Sita is finally rescued by Rama in the climatic war where Rama slays Ravana. Sita goes into fire for her human body to come out of fire-god's protection and her imitation, abducted by ravan, gets back in the fire. Thereafter, Rama and Sita return to Ayodhya, where they are crowned as king and queen. However, Rama abandons a pregnant Sita when one of his subjects casts doubt over her chastity. In the refuge of Sage Valmiki's hermitage Sita gives birth to twins Lava and Kusha. After her sons grow up and unite with their father, Sita returns to her mother, the Earth's womb, for release from a cruel world as a testimony of her purity. Her other names are Bhumija and Janaki.

Sita (singer)
Sita Maria Vermeulen (born 8 June 1980), known by the mononym Sita, is a Dutch pop singer. She rose to fame in the early 2000s as part of pop group K-otic. After the band disbanded in 2003, she had a brief solo career before turning to television, where she was featured primarily on children's television and was a candidate on the Dutch Dancing With The Stars. Since 2009, she has been hosting the Dutch Disney Channel.
Biography
Sita's career started in 2001 when she entered in the Dutch television show Starmaker, which was a talent show intended to create a band. During the show, Sita became a member of a band which was called K-otic. Partly due to the popularity of the show, the band scored a few hits. In December 2001, Sita left the band to have a solo career, releasing "Happy", her first solo single. In January 2002 her first solo album, also called Happy, followed.
In 2002, Sita released Happy in the United States, and "Happy" as a song was also included in the soundtrack of The Wild Thornberrys. As a consequence of her being involved in that movie's album, she received some coverage on Nickelodeon. Within Europe, she became more known in 2003 when she had the hit song "Le Chemin" together with the French band Kyo. In 2007, Spanish singer Edurne released a cover of her song "Come With Me" under the name Ven Por Mi, achieving success in the Spanish charts.

SITA (originally Société industrielle de transport automobile) is the main brand representing Suez Environnement's waste subsidiaries in Europe, North America, the Asia Pacific zone and Australia.
Following the merger of Suez company and Gaz de France in 2008, Suez Environnement became a listed group on the New York Stock Exchange, Brussels Stock Exchange and the Paris Stock Exchange. Sita Devi was the daughter of the Maharaja of Pithapuram – Sri Raja Rao Venkata Kumara Mahipati Surya Rau Bahadur Garu and his wife Sri Rani Chinnamamba Devi of Kapileswarapuram, Nuzvid Zamindari.
Sita Devi first married Meka Rangaiah Appa Rao Bahadur, Zamindar of Vuyyuru. By him she had one child, a son Rajah M. Viduth Kumar Apparao. She was very social and was also a very close friend of Princess Niloufer the daughter-in-law of the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad.
She met her second husband, Pratap Singh Gaekwad of Baroda, at the Madras horse races in 1943.The Gaekwad was, at that time, considered the eighth richest man in the world. It was also reported that he was the second richest Indian prince. The Gaekwad was mesmerized by Sita Devi. The lovers consulted with his legal team. The lawyers recommended that the Hindu Sita Devi convert to Islam. That would dissolve her marriage to the Zamindar under Indian law. She embraced Islam. The Gaekwad took her as his second wife in 1943, which caused consternation with the British authorities, as this violated the anti-bigamy laws that the previous Gaekwad of Baroda enacted. The British Viceroy in New Delhi summoned the Gaekwad to contest this marriage. The latter argued that the law applied to the subjects of Baroda, and that he being their monarch was exempt from this law. This was confirmed by the Viceroy's legal advisers. The British government accepted the marriage, but didn't refer to the Maharani as "Her Highness" as was the protocol for the consorts of rulers of princely states.

Sita Devi (Maharani of Baroda)
Maharani Sita Devi Sahib of Baroda, born to Telugu family on 12 May 1917 in Madras, India, died 15 February 1989 in Paris, France. She was known as the "Indian Wallis Simpson". She was a colourful lady who led an extravagant life for over 40 years and was a member of the international jet set.

The lawyers recommended that the Hindu Sita Devi convert to Mohammedanism. That would dissolve her marriage to the Zamindar under Indian law. She embraced Islam only to then adopt Hinduism once again. The Gaekwad took her as his second wife in 1943, which caused consternation with the British authorities, as this violated the antibigamy laws that the previous Gaekwad of Baroda enacted. The British Viceroy in New Delhi summoned the Gaekwad to contest this marriage. The latter argued that the law applied to the subjects of Baroda, and that he being their monarch was exempt from this law. This was confirmed by the Viceroy's legal advisers. The British government accepted the marriage, but didn't refer to the Maharani as "Her Highness" as was the protocol for the consorts of rulers of princely states.
