Shanklin is a popular seaside resort and civil parish on the Isle of Wight, England, located on Sandown Bay. Shanklin is the southernmost of three settlements which occupy the bay, and is close to Lake and Sandown. The sandy beach, its Old Village and a wooded ravine, Shanklin Chine, are its main attractions. The esplanade along the beach is occupied by hotels and restaurants for the most part, and is one of the most tourist-oriented parts of the town. The other is the Old Village, at the top of Shanklin Chine.
Together with Sandown, Shanklin forms a built up area of 21,374 inhabitants (2011).
Shopping
The main shopping centre consists of two roads, Regent Street and High Street, which together comprise the largest retail area in the south of the Isle of Wight; significant for tourists but also as an amenity for residents.
Near Regent Street are the town's two main supermarkets, the Co-op and Lidl. In Regent Street itself are many local shops, including two arts and crafts shops, several clothing and sports shops, three newsagents and three bakeries. The High Street also has some local shops, but is dominated by tourist shops and restaurants.
Shanklin Chine, a wooded coastal ravine containing waterfalls, trees and lush vegetation, with footpaths and walkways allowing paid access for visitors, and a heritage centre explaining its history.
Shanklin Estate, council housing estate in Sutton, South London, sited between Brighton Road and the Epsom Downs Branch
Shanklin Family, American family involved in politics and government
Shanklin Glacier, a glacier in the Hughes Range of Antarctica, flowing southeast from Mount Waterman to enter Muck Glacier at a point 8 km (5 mi) west of Ramsey Glacier

North Cliffs Failure - Amazing Cliff Collapse caught on Camera!
Active Coastal Erosion in Cornwall. See 'North Cliffs 3hrs Later' video on my channel also. Very lucky to witness 1000's of tonnes of rock falling into the Atlantic!
Thanks for all of your positive comments, sorry I can't reply to them all individually. Hopefully I can answer most of the FAQ's now....
The failure occurred at about 5pm on Friday 23rd September 2011. It took place on the North Coast of Cornwall. There were only a few people watching, with about the same number of inquisitive seals in the water! There were lots of 'small' failures just before the main event. This appears to be a progressive failure, the frequency and size of the smaller failures increased until the inevitable happened. The sound was incredible, those cliffs are about 150-200ft high. Large section of cliff collapses onto popular beach | SWNS
This dramatic video shows the moment a large section of a cliff collapsed onto a popular beach. Dog walker Ellie Williams filmed two videos showing the moment tonnes of bricks fell on the beach in what she described as a "thunder crash." Ellie, of Ottery St Mary, Devon, said she was walking her dogs on the seafront in Sidmouth when she first spotted small trickles of soil. She then noticed large chunks of the cliffs give way during two separate crashes.

I'd been chatting to the couple mentioned in the clip only a few minutes before the footage was taken. They can just be seen walking away in the distance; the path had been fenced off and diverted, so they were quite safe. An amazing sight, and credit to R who took the video, I still can't stop revisiting it! Thanks again for all the comments, who says Geology isn't an exciting subject?!. Oh, & finally..... I'm happy to report that no seals or humans were hurt in the filming of this clip! ACSM(93)
