Shadow Hearts: Covenant, also known as Shadow Hearts II(シャドウハーツII,Shadō Hātsu Tsū), is a role-playing video game developed by Nautilus and published by Aruze in Japan and Midway in other countries in 2004. It is a direct continuation of Shadow Hearts; Its story starts a year and a half after Shadow Hearts in the midst of World War I. It focuses on Karin Koenig, a lieutenant in the German Army who assists in the exorcism of a man able to turn into demons, Yuri Volte Hyuga. However, after learning of Yuri's caring nature, Karin goes on a quest with him to save him from a spell inside him and are drawn into a conflict involving demons of demonolatry.
The game features two DVD-ROM discs instead of the usual one, which provides, according to the publisher, over forty hours of gameplay. The game received positive critical response by video game publications due to the improvements made to the game system.
Gameplay
The Judgment Ring from Shadow Hearts returns with many modifications and improvements. Also, battle has been greatly expanded by different types of attacks as well as combo attacks. An element of physics has been added to battles as well, which links to the types of combo attacks which can be performed.
The game series departs from Europe and centers on the "New World", the Americas. It is not directly related to the previous games in the series but it occurs in the same universe. The main characters' quest is to investigate mysterious "windows" from which vicious monsters pop out.
Gameplay
Gameplay follows that of its predecessors, using the Judgment Ring to decide most battle outcomes, as well as many other actions throughout the game. A new "Stock" system was made for this game which expands the combination attack system between party members from Shadow Hearts - Covenant and enables double attacks.
The "Stock" system works by filling up a character's stock gauge when he/she performs or receives an attack. A maximum of two stock gauge may be stored. Stock can then be utilized in many ways. For example, doing a Double attack (a character performs two action on the same turn) or starting a Combo consumes one Stock. A Double Combo on the other hand consumes two Stock. The Judgment Ring system essentially remains the same from Shadow Hearts: Covenant, with ring customization and added ring effect items being still available.
Shadow Hearts(シャドウハーツ,Shadōhātsu) is a role-playing video game developed by Sacnoth and published by Aruze Corp in Japan and in the United States and Europe by Midway in 2001. It is the first official game in the Shadow Hearts series and is the sequel to Koudelka. Shadow Hearts follows the adventures of Yuri Hyuga, a Harmonixer guided by a mysterious voice in his head. He finds himself thrown into the conflicts prior to World War I where he must save the world and the woman he loves from destruction.
Gameplay
With a linear storyline, random encounters, turn-based battles, and traditional elements such as hit points and magic points, Shadow Hearts plays similarly to other console RPGs. The Judgment Ring, designed to incorporate an element of chance in various outcomes based on the player's skill, is unique to the genre. There are also side-quests and an option for an additional playthrough (or New Game Plus) with the previous game's data saved to allow for completion of the monster library, to attain further collectible items or equipment, and for a statistical side-by-side comparison of the first playthrough.
Shadow Hearts: Covenant Retrospective | A Little Weird, A Lot Wonderful
Shadow Hearts: Covenant is a beloved PS2 RPG, and an entry that defines the Shadow Hearts saga for many. Mixing it's core JRPG gameplay with horror & comedy elements, the game is nothing if not unique. In this video, I explore Covenant's vast weirdness, analyzing the plot & seeing how the game stands the test of time.

Shadow Hearts II Covenant (PlayStation 2) Review!
Welcome back to The Game Collection!
This year for Halloween I wanted to return to the series that has captured my imagination and had horror elements in spades, and considering that it is now December, I think we all know that didn't exactly go as planned. Shadow Hearts Covenant: Kurando Exhibition
In my opinion the most pointless character in the game gameplay wise, while Gepetto goes out of use by the mid part of the game (since you get so many other good mages with better specials and you only have so many good spells to equip), Kurando never really has any unique use, he's just a shitty Yuri.
And I dont just mean because he has less fusions, cause let's face it, with Yuri you'll only ever use like 3 of them or that he has less moves cause most of them are just OK. For me the deal breaker is, that unlike Yuri he doesn't have the combo glitch attached to his transformations meaning you cant just score a 4 person combo 2 turns into battle like you can with Yuri.

If you're wondering why the opening is pretty "wat" for the first half it's because the game starts in World War I then goes into other stuff.
This game is definitely in my "Top 10 RPGs" if not number 1 on the list. Except for the fact that, this game came out around 2004 and I have never seen this opening until when I recorded this video, I don't think the opening is that great.
I probably won't rush to upload this entire game, it'll just be bosses and the voiced cutscenes as I replay it, and I'll probably do the first and third games in this series afterwards even though they're not nearly as good as this game.

This year for Halloween I wanted to return to the series that has captured my imagination and had horror elements in spades, and considering that it is now December, I think we all know that didn't exactly go as planned. I'm proud to uphold this YouTube tradition of specials coming out weeks too late. And now that Christmas is just around the corner, I think we can still salvage this whole situation. Is Shadow Hearts Covenant the perfect game for the Christmas Season? Let's find out! I am SuperDerek and this is Shadow Hearts II Covenant!
Shadow Hearts covenant is a direct sequel to Shadow Hearts, which to recap was itself a successor to Koudelka. Each of these games was developed by the team Sacnoth, and in the case of Shadow Hearts Covenant, published by Midway. This is a direct sequel to Shadow Hearts 1, meaning the game features the same main character Yuri, the same world, the events of Shadow Hearts Covenant follow those of the first, etc. So, this means that yes, to get the full experience, I recommend playing through Shadow Hearts 1 first. As always though, I'll avoid spoilers for this review. Anyway, both games can be pretty steep, so hopefully Santa thinks you've been good this year and brings you some good games. I'd hate for you to end up with a lump of Quest 64 in your stocking.

There is no established rule about Harmonixers being unable to use magic other than that of demons.
His redeeming quality gameplay wise is that he's ever so slightly stronger than Yuri is at the cost of being allot more frail.
Character wise he's just ok, He's probably the most level headed party member after Moon Moon.
As far as the Anastasia's exhibition goes, I'll do it on some later date cause as it is I only have like 3 of her specials out of MANY many more. It's gonna be easier for me to collect them upon a replay of the game so that's called off till I decide to replay Covenant.
