Alexandra Elene MacLean Denny (6 January 1947 – 21 April 1978) — known as Sandy Denny — was an English singer and songwriter, perhaps best known as the lead singer for the folk rock band Fairport Convention. She has been described as "the pre-eminent British folk rock singer".
After briefly working with British folk band the Strawbs, Denny joined Fairport Convention in 1968, remaining with that band until the end of 1969. She formed the short-lived band Fotheringay in 1970, releasing one album with them (another unreleased album surfaced over thirty years later), before focusing on a solo career. Between 1971 and 1977, Denny released four solo albums: The North Star Grassman and the Ravens, Sandy, Like an Old Fashioned Waltz, and Rendezvous. She is also noted as the only guest vocalist on a Led Zeppelin studio album, when she shared a duet with Robert Plant for "The Battle of Evermore" on Led Zeppelin's untitled fourth album (1971).
Sandy Denny is a 2010 compilation box set of recordings by folk singer Sandy Denny and comprises all studio material and recordings made during her time both as a solo artist and as a member of Fotheringay, Fairport Convention, and other groups, together with home demos and live recordings.
Sandy Denny and the Strawbs is a compilation album of songs by Sandy Denny and Strawbs. The album is a reworking of tapes recorded by the band in Copenhagen in the July 1967. Tracks from those recordings were first released on the Pickwick budget label in 1973 under the name All Our Own Work. The track listing on this album is slightly different and some of the songs have the original string arrangements that also were recorded in 1967.
Strawbs (or The Strawbs) are an Englishrock band founded in 1964. Although the band started out as a bluegrass group they eventually moved on to other styles such as folk rock, progressive rock, and (briefly) glam rock.
They are best known for their hit, "Part of the Union", which reached number two in the UK charts in February 1973, as well as for "Lay Down" a popular Progressive Rock hit from the same LP. The Strawbs also toured with Supertramp in their "Crime of the Century" tour, doing their own "Hero and Heroine" tour, which drew musical similarities and themes.

1967 - Sandy Denny & The Strawbs - All i need is you
Love is a mist that's turning everything red to white
Like the full moon it send you out of your mind at night
Wishing wells ain't no use, they just say may or might.
I know I need is you
Well all I need is you
Somehow it just grew and grew
Till all I need is you.
Cats have got eyes that seem to follow me where I go
Purple and green, they seem to know everything I know
Be it all the feelings I just didn't want to show.
And all I need is you
Well all I need is you
Somehow it just grew and grew
Till all I need is you
All I need is you,
Yes all I need is you.
Caught my mind suddenly just drifting out the door
Saw all my lifetime passing, feeling so insecure
You knew for certain, but I just didn't know for sure.
And all I need
Well all...

Wondering and waiting, my back agaist the wall Not a word that passed between us comes to recall Just you shadow at the window as you pass on down the hall You never wanted me and never knew me at all I haven't any picture to set before my eyes Nothing I can blame when the blues start to rise Just the memory of laughter and a living out of lies But if I could change my ways we would never have said goodbye If you ever get the time, please think of me It's a lock that can't be broken and there isn't any key I'm only in your mind, only you can set me free You can't hurt me anymore and it isn't hard to see Someday, someone will leave you and I know you'll feel the same But you'll mark it down to memory and a dream that never came But they are no answers given when love is just a game And you never wanted me and now I feel the same
