Salisbury's Triumph: How Britain Won the Scramble for Africa
In 1886, Lord Salisbury inherited a desperate diplomatic position. The 1882 occupation of Egypt had turned France into a permanently hostile foe, leaving Britain dependent on Germany and its wily chancellor to preserve its position.
Over the next 12 years, Salisbury engineered an astonishing reversal of fortunes, securing Britain's position in Egypt without having to cede any territories of importance in the increasingly contested Scramble for Africa.
This video aims to be a short diplomatic history documentary looking at the diplomacy of Lord Salisbury during this period.

This video takes you on a tour around Salisbury to see some of the best sights and attractions there are to be found! From historic churches and cathedrals to stunning gardens and parks, we've got everything you need for your next day out.
Salisbury is in southwest England. It's in the county of Wiltshire. Salisbury has a population of about 40,000 people. The population isn't that big but what it lacks in size it makes up with character and charm. One of the main attractions to see when in Salisbury are the historic churches, cathedrals, and parks that are within the city.
The history of Salisbury is interesting and informative for those of you interested in such things. The first settlement occurred around 700 BC and was established on top of a hill where we now have an archaeological site called Old Sarum which is an Iron Age hill fort. The Romans arrived in the 1st century, by 43 AD they had captured the whole of England and it was under Roman rule until about 367 AD when they left due to internal disputes and increasing pressure from outside sources.
Salisbury city centre is a historic town with many things to see and do. One attraction to visit is the Salisbury Cathedral which was founded in 1220 AD. It's one of the most popular tourist destinations for visitors because it was designed by Sir Christopher Wren who is well-known for his contributions to architecture. The cathedral also has some beautiful stained glass windows so visiting this place will not disappoint.
Another place you can visit when in Salisbury England is Forton Prison which was built in 1807. It's interesting because it was used as both a prison and a military hospital, sometimes simultaneously which resulted in some rather unusual occurrences that are documented in some of the displays there.
The Folly Tower at Wilton House is last on the list but still worth visiting. It's a water tower built in 1826 which was used to store drinking water for the residents who lived in the house.
The city of Salisbury is definitely part of what makes England an attractive tourist destination. There are many things to do there when you visit, whether it be sightseeing or simply exploring, it will be a memorable experience. Thanks for watching!

Keeping Time (1867 Paris World's Fair)
In this exploration of the world wide reset we will examine the world's oldest clock in Salisbury England, the World's Fair of 1867 in Paris France, and a mysterious piece of sculpture in the Lincoln Cathedral in England.
****As it turns out the clock that I show is not the Salisbury clock after all but rather a clock in Prague.****
It should not affect the video as I was using the clocks to show how old clocks were, according to the historical narrative. Most of these clocks date back to the 1300's.
Dear master: How will I get over the pain of this or that?
Dear student: You will not, you will only get used to it.
I am now approaching one year of both my YouTube channel and my coffee shop. My life is no less chaotic today however I am getting used to it. The shop is doing pretty good...

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about mechanical gears. For other uses, see Gear (disambiguation).
"Gears" redirects here. For other uses, see Gears (disambiguation).
"Geared" redirects here. For video game, see Geared (video game).
Two meshing gears transmitting rotational motion. Note that the smaller gear is rotating faster. Since the larger gear is rotating less quickly, its torque is proportionally greater. One subtlety of this particular arrangement is that the linear speed at the pitch diameter is the same on both gears.
Multiple reducer gears in microwave oven (ruler for scale)
A gear or cogwheel is a rotating machine part having cut teeth, or cogs, which mesh with another toothed part to transmit torque. Geared devices can change the speed, torque, and direction of a power source. Gears almost always produce a change in torque, creating a mechanical advantage, through their gear ratio, and thus may be considered a simple machine. The teeth on the two meshing gears all have the same shape.[1] Two or more meshing gears, working in a sequence, are called a gear train or a transmission. A gear can mesh with a linear toothed part, called a rack, thereby producing translation instead of rotation.
The gears in a transmission are analogous to the wheels in a crossed, belt pulley system. An advantage of gears is that the teeth of a gear prevent slippage.
When two gears mesh, if one gear is bigger than the other, a mechanical advantage is produced, with the rotational speeds, and the torques, of the two gears differing in proportion to their diameters.
In transmissions with multiple gear ratios—such as bicycles, motorcycles, and cars—the term "gear" as in "first gear" refers to a gear ratio rather than an actual physical gear. The term describes similar devices, even when the gear ratio is continuous rather than discrete, or when the device does not actually contain gears, as in a continuously variable transmission.[2]
History
Early examples of gears date from the 4th century BC in China[3] (Zhan Guo times – Late East Zhou dynasty), which have been preserved at the Luoyang Museum of Henan Province, China. The earliest preserved gears in Europe were found in the Antikythera mechanism, an example of a very early and intricate geared device, designed to calculate astronomical positions. Its time of construction is now estimated between 150 and 100 BC.[4] Gears appear in works connected to Hero of Alexandria, in Roman Egypt circa AD 50,[5] but can be traced back to the mechanics of the Alexandrian school in 3rd-century BC Ptolemaic Egypt, and were greatly developed by the Greek polymath Archimedes (287–212 BC).[6]
The differential gear first appeared in the Chinese south-pointing chariot, dated to the first millennium BC.[7] The segmental gear, which receives/communicates reciprocating motion from/to a cogwheel, consisting of a sector of a circular gear/ring having cogs on the periphery,[8] was invented by Arab engineer Al-Jazari in 1206.[9] The worm gear was invented in the Indian subcontinent, for use in roller cotton gins, some time during the 13th–14th centuries.[10]
Single-stage gear reducer
Examples of early gear applications include:
Ma Jun (c. 200–265 AD) used differential gears as part of a south-pointing chariot.
The first geared mechanical clocks were built in China in 725.
Al-Jazari (c. 1206) invented the segmental gear as part of a water-lifting device.[9]
The worm gear was invented as part of a roller cotton gin in the Indian subcontinent (c. 13th–14th centuries).[10]
The 1386 Salisbury cathedral clock may be the world's oldest still working geared mechanical clock.
Comparison with drive mechanisms
The definite ratio that teeth give gears provides an advantage over other drives (such as traction drives and V-belts) in precision machines such as watches that depend upon an exact velocity ratio. In cases where driver and follower are proximal, gears also have an advantage over other drives in the reduced number of parts required; the downside is that gears are more expensive to manufacture and their lubrication requirements may impose a higher operating cost per hour.
Types
External vs internal gears
Internal gear
An external gear is one with the teeth formed on the outer surface of a cylinder or cone. Conversely, an internal gear is one with the teeth formed on the inner surface of a cylinder or cone. For bevel gears, an internal gear is one with the pitch angle exceeding 90 degrees. Internal gears do not cause output shaft direction reversal.[11]

This article is about mechanical gears. For other uses, see Gear (disambiguation).

The shop is doing pretty good now that the mornings are getting a little chilly and school is beginning.
For years we studied history to discover the truth. Today we study the lies to discover the truth. The journey is only beginning.
Thanks for watching and being a part of this tribe ;)
I love you all!!!
God bless and have a blessed day!

Dominica (/dəˈmɪˌnɪkə/ or /ˌdɒmɪˈniːkə/; French: Dominique; Island Carib: Wai‘tu kubuli), officially the Commonwealth of Dominica, is a sovereign island country.[8] The capital, Roseau, is located on the leeward side of the island. It is part of the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. The island lies south-southeast of Guadeloupe and northwest of Martinique. Its area is 750 km2 (290 sq mi), and the highest point is Morne Diablotins, at 1,447 m (4,747 ft) in elevation. The population was 71,293 at the 2011 census.
The island was originally inhabited by the Kalinago and later colonised by Europeans, predominantly by the French from the 1690s to 1763. Columbus is said to have passed the island on Sunday, 3 November 1493, and the island's name is derived from the Latin for "Sunday". Great Britain took possession in 1763 after its defeat of France in the Seven Years' War, and it gradually established English as the official language. The island republic gained independence in 1978.
Its name is pronounced with stress falling either on second syllable of the word, after the Latin word dŏmĭnĭcă "lordly", or on the third syllable, after the French name Dominique. Dominica has been nicknamed the "Nature Isle of the Caribbean" for its natural environment.[9] It is the youngest island in the Lesser Antilles, still being formed by geothermal-volcanic activity, as evidenced by the world's second-largest hot spring, called Boiling Lake. The island has lush mountainous rainforests, and is the home of many rare plants, animals, and bird species. There are xeric areas in some of the western coastal regions, but heavy rainfall occurs inland. The Sisserou parrot, also known as the imperial amazon and found only on Dominica, is the island's national bird and featured on the national flag. Dominica's economy depends on tourism and agriculture.
Dominica is mostly volcanic and has few beaches; therefore, tourism has developed more slowly than on neighboring islands. Nevertheless, Dominica's mountains, rainforests, freshwater lakes, hot springs, waterfalls, and diving spots make it an attractive ecotourism destination. Cruise ship stopovers have increased following the development of modern docking and waterfront facilities in Roseau, the capital. Out of 22 Caribbean islands tracked, Dominica had the fewest visitors in 2008 (55,800 or 0.3% of the total). This was about half as many as visited Haiti. The volcanic nature of the island has attracted scuba divers.
Dominica has two major newspapers, The Sun and The Chronicle. There are two national television stations and a few radio stations, ZBC-AM 590, En Ba Mango 93.5/96.9FM, ZGBC-AM 740, ZGBC-FM 90.7 (Portsmouth), ZGBC-FM 102.1 (Roseau) and ZGBC-FM 106.1 (Marigot), Q95 FM, the Dominica Broadcasting Corporation, LIME and Digicel compete for most of Dominica's wireless customers.

Dance of Death World Tour
Álbum : The X Factor (1995)
Composição: Steve Harris / Janick Gers
Death on the Road is a live CD, LP, and DVD released by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden on 30 August 2005 (CD & LP version) and on 6 February 2006 (DVD version). The album was recorded at Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany on 24 November 2003, during the Dance of Death World Tour (2003--2004).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the 1963 film, see Lord of the Flies (1963 film). For the 1990 film, see Lord of the Flies (1990 film). For other uses, see Lord of the Flies (disambiguation).Lord of the Flies is a 1954 dystopian novel by Nobel Prize-winning English author William Golding about a group of British boys stuck on an uninhabited island who try to govern themselves with disastrous results. Its stances on the already controversial subjects of human nature and individual welfare versus the common good earned it position 68 on the American Library Association’s list of the 100 most frequently challenged books of 1990–1999.[2] The novel is a reaction to the youth novel The Coral Island by R. M. Ballantyne.
Published in 1954, Lord of the Flies was Golding’s first novel. Although it was not a great success at the time—selling fewer than 3,000 copies in the United States during 1955 before going out of print—it soon went on to become a best-seller. It has been adapted to film twice in English, in 1963 by Peter Brook and 1990 by Harry Hook, and once in Filipino (1976).
In 2005 the novel was chosen by TIME magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to 2005.[3] It was awarded a place on both lists of Modern Library 100 Best Novels, reaching number 41 on the editor's list, and 25 on the reader's list. In 2003, the novel was listed at number 70 on the BBC's survey The Big Read. [ENG]
