Saidnaya (also transliteratedSaydnaya or Sednaya from the Syriac:ܣܝܕܢܝܐ, Arabic:صيدنايا) is a city located in the mountains, 1500 metres (0.938 miles) above sea level, 27 kilometres (17mi) north of the city of Damascus in Syria. Though orthographically slightly variant with Arabic, the spelling is consistent with Syriac-Aramaic orthography (with no distinction between "sin" and "sad") of the name for "Our Lady" and refers, almost certainly to the Virgin Mary, a renowned icon of whom is revered in the city's main church by both Christians and Muslims to this day. The town is noted for the large number of (Western Neo-) Aramaic speakers, along with nearby Maaloula and a few smaller towns nearby. The Hellenistic-era name for the region centered in the Barada Valley was Abilene: the local tradition has thus long held it as the site where the grave of Abel, slain brother of Cain, lies. Scholars consider it likely that the capital of Abilene was the city of Saidnaya. According to the Syria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Saidnaya had a population of 25,194 in the 2004 census.

Saydnaya Prison: Human Slaughterhouse
END the horror - sign the petition http://amn.st/61868Tgiw
This harrowing story is based on the real life accounts of former prison guards, officials and detainees held at the notorious Saydnaya Military Prison. Amnesty International has discovered that between 2011 and 2015, every week and often twice a week, groups of up to 50 people were taken out of their prison cells and hanged to death in Saydnaya prison 30 km north of Damascus, Syria. In five years, as many as 13,000 people, most of them civilians believed to be opposed to the government, were hanged in secret at Saydnaya. Prisoners were not aware of the sentence or the fact that they were going to be imminently executed until moments before they were hanged.

The story tells of the king of the sky, Creator of dreams On a big book he used to write, The destiny of all galaxies Lost in darkness, in his castle, far in the universe He knew when the world began, why life ended up And the reason why events took place One flies away on the rainbow or inside life And one's heart's alive...to run... When the night falls, he'll dominate And from his throne, magic he'll spread Present and future have no difference For the immortal ones Prisoner of an impossible task Of life be knew nothing at all All that's real, the oceans and stars Are a fruit of his mind Every soul is important and dreaming he creates New lives to lose or win One flies away on the rainbow or inside life And one's heart's alive...to run... When the night falls, he'll dominate And from his throne, magic he'll spread A race, as an end, the face, that is aging Where's the mystery behind the dream The space, I need to open a door, to know if Heaven will have my replies One flies away on the rainbow or inside life And one's heart's alive...to run... When the night falls, he'll dominate
