A ship's bell is used to indicate the time aboard a ship and hence to regulate the sailors' duty watches. The bell itself is usually made of brass or bronze and normally has the ship's name engraved or cast on it.
Timing of duty periods
Unlike civil clock bells, the strikes of the bell do not accord to the number of the hour. Instead, there are eight bells, one for each half-hour of a four-hour watch. In the age of sailing, watches were timed with a 30-minute hourglass. Bells would be struck every time the glass was turned, and in a pattern of pairs for easier counting, with any odd bells at the end of the sequence.
The classical system was:
At midnight on New Year's Eve sixteen bells would be struck– eight bells for the old year and eight bells for the new.
Most of the crew of a ship would be divided up into between two and four groups called watches. Each watch would take its turn with the essential activities of manning the helm, navigating, trimming sails, and keeping a lookout.
.church is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) in the Domain Name System of the Internet. It comes from the common name church and is used by churches, congregations, ministries of religion, and entities who deal with them. The church domain was entered into the DNS root on May 15, 2014.
Church is a Buffalo Metro Rail station located in the 300 block of Main Street (just north of Church Street) in the Free Fare Zone, which allows passengers free travel between Erie Canal Harbor Station and Fountain Plaza Station. Passengers continuing northbound past Fountain Plaza are required to have proof-of-payment. Church Station is the closest to the Buffalo Metropolitan Transportation Center located two blocks east at Ellicott and North Division Streets.
J. Church (full name and dates of birth and death unknown) was an Englishcricketer active in the late 1780s and mid-1790s. His batting style is unknown.
Church made his debut in major cricket for East Kent against West Kent in June 1789, at the Star Inn, Coxheath Common. In August of that year he played a second match for East Kent against the same opposition at the same venue. In 1795, Church made a third and last known major cricket appearance Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) against Middlesex at Lord's Old Ground. He scored a total of 9 runs in his three matches, top-scoring with 3.
Russians (Russian:русские, russkiye) are an East Slavicethnic group native to Russia, who speak the Russian language and primarily live in Russia.
They are the most numerous ethnic group in Russia constituting more than 80% of the country's population according to the census of 2010, and the most numerous ethnic group in Europe.
Ethnonym
There are two Russian words which are commonly translated into English as "Russians". One is "русские" (russkiye), which most often means "ethnic Russians". Another is "россияне" (rossiyane), which means "citizens of Russia". The former word refers to ethnic Russians, regardless of what country they live in and irrespective of whether or not they hold Russian citizenship. Under certain circumstances this term may or may not extend to denote members of other Russian-speaking ethnic groups from Russia, or from the former Soviet Union. The latter word refers to all people holding citizenship of Russia, regardless of their ethnicity, and does not include ethnic Russians living outside of Russia. Translations into other languages often do not distinguish these two groups.
The Russian debuted off-panel in The Punisher Vol. 5, #8, was fully introduced in the following issue, and appeared in every subsequent one up until his death in Issue #11. In the following series, the character was resurrected as a cyborg, and was featured in The Punisher Vol. 6, #1-5.
The Russian received profiles in Marvel Encyclopedia #5, All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe #9, and Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z #9
Fictional character biography
The earliest known sightings of the Russian occurred while he was vacationing in Afghanistan in the 1980s. He subsequently travelled the world, inserting himself into various conflicts for fun and profit; locations he is said to have fought in include Lebanon, Iraq, Rwanda, East Timor, Chechnya, the Balkans, and Belfast (where he consumed a man on a bet). The Russian's activities led to him being wanted (dead or alive) by numerous law enforcement agencies, as well as criminal organizations such as the Yakuza.
The 7.62×54mmR is a rimmedriflecartridge developed by the Russian Empire and introduced as a service cartridge in 1891. Originally designed for the bolt-action Mosin–Nagant rifle, it was used during the late Tsarist era and throughout the Soviet period to the present day. The cartridge remains one of the few standard-issue rimmed cartridges still in military use and has the longest service life of all military-issued cartridges in the world.
The American Winchester Model 1895 was also chambered for this cartridge per a contract with the Russian government. The 7.62×54mmR is still in use by the Russian military in the Dragunov and other sniper rifles, as well as some modern general-purpose machine guns like the PKM. Originally, the round was designated as "Трехлинейный патрон образца 1891 года" – (Three-line cartridge model of 1891). It then became widely known under the designation "7,62мм винтовочный патрон" (7,62mm rifle cartridge). The round has erroneously come to be known as the "7.62mm Russian" (and is still often referred to as such colloquially), but, according to standards, the "R" in designation (7.62×54mmR) stands for Rimmed, in line with standard C.I.P. designations. The name is sometimes confused with the "7.62 Soviet" round, which refers to the rimless 7.62×39mm cartridge used in the SKS and AK-based (AK-47) rifles.

Exclusive Audio of DC Metro train derailing outside East Falls Church on July 29th, 2016
My security system picked up the sound of the derailment. The squeaking and clunking at the start is the normal sound of the first three cars successfully crossing over the switch and changing tracks. At 0:13, you will hear an extra click that's out of rhythm from the rest of the noise. That click is immediately followed by the unmistakable deep rumbling sound of crashing and failure as the cars jump off the track and shred the ties and rails.
Note: if you have a good subwoofer, turn it up for the full wmata experience. There was no bandpass filter on the mic, so it picked up all of the deepest rumbles.

⁴ᴷ San Francisco Muni Metro: Updated Arrival Announcements at Church Station
It seems the robotic announcements are back in the Muni Metro system, this time at Church Station. Since the ATCS went live in 1998, the Muni Metro has used the same voice for all the arrival announcements. The typical announcement, for example, says: "Approaching outbound 2-Car (N). Followed by 1-Car (J) in 2 minutes." The new announcements are much more robotic. For both inbound and outbound announcements, the system says, for example: "Arriving outbound 2-Car (L) to San Francisco Zoo. Next (K) in 9 Minutes. (L) in 7 Minutes. (M) in 10 Minutes." Note how the following arrivals are not done by time but by alphabetical order.

(by Daniel Lanois)(lyrics are written by Josh Parker) Oh, oh deep water, black and cold like the night I stand with arms wide open, I've run a twisted mile I'm a stranger in the eyes of the Maker I could not see for the fog in my eyes I could not feel for the fear in my life And from across the great divide, In the distance I saw a light Jean Baptiste walking to me with the Maker My body is bent and broken by long and dangerous sleep I can't work the fields of Abraham and turn my head away I'm not a stranger in the hands of the Maker Brother John, have you seen the homeless daughters Standing there with broken wings I have seen the flaming swords there over east of eden Burning in the eyes of the Maker Burning in the eyes of the Maker Burning in the eyes of the Maker... Oh, river rise from your sleep... Oh, river rise from your sleep...
