Renaissance of the 12th century
The Renaissance of the 12th century was a period of many changes at the outset of the High Middle Ages. It included social, political and economic transformations, and an intellectual revitalization of Western Europe with strong philosophical and scientific roots. These changes paved the way for later achievements such as the literary and artistic movement of the Italian Renaissance in the 15th century and the scientific developments of the 17th century.

As a means of recording the passage of time, the 12th century is the period from 1101 to 1200 in accordance with the Julian calendar in the Common Era. In the history of European culture, this period is considered part of the High Middle Ages and is sometimes called the Age of the Cistercians. In Song dynasty China an invasion by Jurchens caused a political schism of north and south. The Khmer Empire of Cambodia flourished during this century, while the Fatimids of Egypt were overtaken by the Ayyubid dynasty.

An Alien Gargoyle on a historic 12th Century Scottish Abbey has caused a social media sensation with its resemblance to the monster from the Alien films. In 2013 someone took a photograph of the out of place feature and it became hugely popular on social media, and there was good reason for it. In 2018 the Alien gargoyle Image was once again being talked about on social media due to an update on the Abbey’s facebook page. An Alien Gargoyle on a historic 12th Century Scottish Abbey has caused a social media sensation with its resemblance to the monster from the Alien films.
In 2013 someone took a photograph of the out of place feature and it became hugely popular on social media, and there was good reason for it.
In 2018 the Alien gargoyle Image was once again being talked about on social media due to an update on the Abbey’s facebook page.
Any Sci-Fi movie fan will instantly recognize the familiar design of the alien looking gargoyle, which has a striking similarity to the creature in all of the Alien movies with Sigourney weaver.
Paisley Abbey is located in the town of Paisley in Scotland, the town was a significant religious center in the 12th century, thanks to the construction of Paisley Abbey which still stands proudly today.

It included social, political and economic transformations, and an intellectual revitalization of Western Europe with strong philosophical and scientific roots.
