In the Philippines, regions (Filipino: rehiyon, ISO 3166-2:PH) are administrative divisions that serve primarily to organize the provinces (lalawigan) of the country for administrative convenience. Currently, the archipelagicrepublic of the Philippines is divided into 18 regions (17 administrative and 1 autonomous). Most government offices are established by region instead of individual provincial offices, usually (but not always) in the city designated as the regional center.
The regions themselves do not possess a separate local government, with the exception of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, which has an elected regional assembly and governor. The Cordillera Administrative Region was originally intended to be autonomous (Cordillera Autonomous Region), but the failure of two plebiscites for its establishment reduced it to a regular administrative region.
History
Regions first came to existence in on September 24, 1972, when the provinces of the Philippines were organized into 11 regions by Presidential Decree № 1 as part of the Integrated Reorganization Plan of PresidentFerdinand Marcos.
The Philippines (i/ˈfɪlᵻpiːnz/; Filipino:Pilipinas[ˌpɪlɪˈpinɐs]), officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Filipino:Republika ng Pilipinas), is a sovereignisland country in Southeast Asia situated in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of about 7,500 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The capital city of the Philippines is Manila and the most populous city is Quezon City; both are part of Metro Manila.
To the north of the Philippines across the Luzon Strait lies Taiwan; Vietnam sits west across the South China Sea; southwest lies Malaysia in the island of Borneo across the Sulu Sea, and to the south the Celebes Sea separates it from other islands of Indonesia; while to the east it is bounded by the Philippine Sea and the island-nation of Palau. Its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and close to the equator makes the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons, but also endows it with abundant natural resources and some of the world's greatest biodiversity. At approximately 300,000 square kilometers (115,831sqmi), the Philippines is the 72nd-largest country in the world.
January 7 – A landslide happened in Compostela Valley, where more than 30 people are reportedly dead, and 50 still missing.
January 15 – the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) declared the Independence of Bangsamoro Land (Sulu, Mindanao, Palawan, Sabah) in Valencia Bukidnon.
The Philippines 2000 platform largely hinged on five major areas:
Peace and Stability
Economic Growth and Sustainable Development
Energy and Power Generation
Environmental Protection
Streamlined Bureaucracy
The Philippines 2000 program formed the core of the Ramos campaign platform in the 1992 elections which largely centered on economic reforms and improved national security and unity.
Effects and legacy
The Philippines 2000 platform was widely successful, making it one of the greatest legacies of the Ramos administration to the Philippines. Ramos was successfully able to open the then-closed Philippine economy and break Marcos-era formed monopolies, especially with regard to Philippine Airlines and the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, which were privatized and de-monopolized during his tenure. He was also able to resolve the power crisis in the Philippines through privatization of power plants and the construction of new ones. The reforms spurred additional investment into the Philippines.

The Republic of the Philippines is divided into a total of 81 provinces.
The country has an area of 300,000 square kilometers (115,831 miles). It counts with a string of over 7,641 islands in southeastern Asia, precisely between the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
Each province is divided into cities and municipalities. Provinces in the Philippines are ruled by an elected legislature called Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and a democratically elected governor.
To make it simpler, these 82 provinces are grouped into 17 regions, based on several characteristics.

I am Reymund Lara from Passi City, Iloilo, Philippines. I am an elementary teacher and I have been teaching for more than a decade. I was able to visit China in 2018 under the 52nd ASEAN Young Leaders Training Program together with delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. From September 2020 to May 2021, I was a Tagalog Teacher at a private university in Spokane, Washington State, USA under the Fulbright Scholarship Program. As a teacher, I have noticed that there's a need for the kids and adults alike to learn our language and culture as Filipinos.

This channel Learn Tagalog with Reymund was born out of my strong desire to share Tagalog with my students and have them learn the topics first before attending our online classes. The students watch the videos in advance, memorize the important phrases and sentences in order that when they come to class we can practice speaking the target language.

The Republic of the Philippines is divided into a total of 81 provinces. The country has an area of 300,000 square kilometers (115,831 miles). It counts with a string of over 7,100 islands in southeastern Asia, precisely between the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
Each province is divided into cities and municipalities. Provinces in the Philippines are ruled by an elected legislature called Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and a democratically elected governor.
To make it simpler, these 81 provinces are grouped into 17 regions, based on several characteristics. Out of these regions, 13 have a number that corresponds to its geographical location. The remaining 4 regions do not have a numerical designation and are:
National Capital Region
Southwestern Tagalog Region
Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao
Cordillera Administrative Region

Planning to visit different rehiyon (in Tagalog) or regions in the Philippines? If you are, then you learning about the regions and precisely where it is located will greatly help you, especially if you are creating an itinerary. In as much as you want to visit Boracay and Baguio at the same time, such a route is impossible if you will only be staying in the country for a few days. Instead of “winging” it, why not try to look for other tourist destinations that are in the same region, right?

Maraming salamat po and feel free on sending me a message whenever you have questions 😊🙏🇵🇭#Tagalog101 #Filipino101 #TagalogClass #FilipinoClass #TagalogTeacher #FilipinoTeacher #LearnTagalog #LearnFilipino #FilipinoLanguage #PhilippineLanguage
