Playing middle linebacker his entire career, Lewis is considered one of the greatest ever to play the position. Lewis was selected to 13 Pro Bowls and named an Associated Press All-Pro 10 times. He is also thought to be the greatest Baltimore Ravens player of all time. He won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2000 and 2003, becoming the sixth player to win the award multiple times. Lewis was also the second linebacker to win the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award and the first to win the award on the winning Super Bowl team. Lewis pled guilty to obstruction of justice in connection with the stabbing deaths of two men in 2000.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, the Drifters were the least stable of the great vocal groups, as they were low-paid musicians hired by George Treadwell, who owned the Drifters name. There have been 60 vocalists in the history of the Treadwell Drifters line, including several splinter groups by former Drifters members (not under Treadwell's management). These groups are usually identified with a possessive credit such as "Bill Pinkney's Original Drifters", "Charlie Thomas' Drifters", etc.
There were three Golden eras of the Drifters; the early 1950s, the 1960s, and the early 1970s (post-Atlantic period). From these, the first Drifters, formed by Clyde McPhatter, was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame as "The Drifters". The second Drifters, featuring Ben E. King, was separately inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame as "Ben E. King and the Drifters". In their induction, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame selected four members from the first Drifters, two from the second Drifters, and one from the post-Atlantic Drifters.
Lewis became a Football League linesman in 1969 at the age of twenty five. At this point he was based in Bournemouth but he later moved to Great Bookham in Surrey where he served the rest of his career. In 1974 he joined the Supplementary List of referees and one year later progressed to the full referees List.
Over the next few years he established himself and took charge of frequent top division games. In 1983 he was appointed to the League Cup semi-final first leg between Liverpool and Burnley with the Merseysiders (eventual Cup winners) winning 3-0.
He became more prominent in the late 1980s. In April 1987 he refereed the FA Cup semi-final between Tottenham and Watford and a few months later the Charity Shield between Everton and Coventry. On New Year's Day 1989 he was elevated to the FIFA List and marked the day with a match at Old Trafford as Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-1. He took thirteen and a half seasons on the full List to reach this level, the longest period in modern times.
He was honoured in 2003 when Wolverhampton City Council chose to name one of the Midland Metro trams, vehicle number 3, after him. Other vehicles in the fleet were named after former Lord Mayors of Birmingham, or local celebrities.
He was born and died in Hamilton, Ontario. Lewis was nicknamedRapid Ray for his speed on the track. He excelled in the 100, 200, 400 and 800 metre distances in high school and captured seventeen national high school championships (including a record four in one day) while a student at Hamilton's Central Collegiate.
Lewis briefly attended Milwaukee's Marquette University on a scholarship, but returned to Canada after only a semester. He found a position on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) as a porter during the Great Depression, a job he would hold for 22 years. Lewis continued training – often running alongside the CPR train tracks during stopovers on the Canadian Prairies– and won a bronze medal as part of the 4x400 metre relay team at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. In the 400 metre event he was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
The Simpsons includes a large array of supporting characters: co-workers, teachers, family friends, extended relatives, townspeople, local celebrities, fictional characters within the show, and even animals. The writers originally intended many of these characters as one-time jokes or for fulfilling needed functions in the town. A number of them have gained expanded roles and have subsequently starred in their own episodes. According to the creator of The Simpsons, Matt Groening, the show adopted the concept of a large supporting cast from the Canadian sketch comedy show Second City Television.
Agnes Skinner
Agnes Skinner (voiced by Tress MacNeille) is the mother of Principal Skinner and first appeared in the first season episode "The Crepes of Wrath" as an old woman who embarrassingly calls her son "Spanky". However, as episodes progressed, the character turned bitter. She is very controlling of her son and often treats him as if he is a child. She hates Edna Krabappel due to her son's feelings for the other woman. Agnes has married four times. Several Springfield residents (including the Simpsons) are afraid of her. When "the real Seymour Skinner" arrives in Springfield, Agnes ends up rejecting him in part because he stands up to her, but also because unlike Skinner/Tamzarian, her biological son is independent and doesn't need her anymore, while Skinner immediately reverts to a good-for-nothing without her.
"[Like tens of thousands of impressionable younger brothers, 6-year-old Keon Lattimore would follow his big brother out to the backyard for some football pointers. And like tens of thousands of older brothers, Ray Lewis -- nine years older, already a young man -- would cooperate, handing Lattimore a football and sending him off toward the other boys in the backyard.] Just run into 'em, ... Go hit somebody."
"That's the most physical football game I've ever played in my entire life, ... McFadden is a great back, especially being a true freshman, but they have a big, physical offensive line, too. For them to be a 2-5 team is unbelievable."
"We spoke out on the grass to a group of people, consoled them, let them know we understood this was a traumatic, life-changing situation. Some had tremendous reservations about relocating to a state they knew nothing about."
"You bet. We own the Titans. I remember the good old days when I would blow up Eddie George with a big hit. Now, they've got another running back with two first names, Travis Henry, whom I plan on blowing up in the same manner."
"The scheme's got to fit your players. My thing is bashing running backs. That's what I want to get back to, just having fun and letting them deal with me. That's what the 46 package and the defense does."
"A linebacker's job is to knock out running backs, to knock out receivers, to chase the football,"
"My thing about camp is to come in and be who I am, which is the most dominant player in the game, ... That's who I am, and that's what I'm here for."
"I already believe I am the best linebacker in the game. Now, I have to show one more thing ? that I am the most dominating, influential person in the game and the best football player to ever put on a pair of cleats."
"Terrell has got some big balls."
"That's once again the same people who told me I was too small, the same people who said I couldn't win a Super Bowl with our offense, the same people who said I couldn't play in a 3-4, ... Are they with me when I get up every morning at 6:30 to go to work? The day I lose a step is the day I lose love for the game."

“I grabbed this deck of cards, and I flipped a 7. And I started doing seven push-ups. I flipped a 6; I did six. I flipped a 9; I did nine. I flipped a 2; I did two. I flipped another 9; I did nine until I got all the way through the deck. Jack, Queen, King worth 10. Aces – 25 and Jokers – 50. Until I got sick and tired of what pain felt like in my gut…I shuffled them all over again, and I started doing sit-ups. I wanted to make sure sports wasn’t the reason I started training. It was to make sure another man never put his hands on my mama…" - Ray Lewis
