RMSOlympic was a transatlanticocean liner, the lead ship of the White Star Line's trio of Olympic-class liners. Unlike her younger sister ships, the Olympic enjoyed a long and illustrious career, spanning 24 years from 1911 to 1935. This included service as a troopship during the First World War, which gained her the nickname "Old Reliable". Olympic returned to civilian service after the war and served successfully as an ocean liner throughout the 1920s and into the first half of the 1930s, although increased competition, and the slump in trade during the Great Depression after 1930, made her operation increasingly unprofitable.
She was the largest ocean liner in the world for two periods during 1911–13, interrupted only by the brief tenure of the slightly larger Titanic (which had the same dimensions but higher gross tonnage owing to revised interior configurations), and then outsized by SS Imperator. Olympic also retained the title of the largest British-built liner until the RMS Queen Mary was launched in 1934, interrupted only by the short careers of her slightly larger sister ships.
The Story of RMS Olympic: Titanic's forgotten twin
Hello All!
The RMS Olympic was a massive Olympic class liner and older sister of the infamous Titanic. She was crown jewel of the White Star Line and served an incredibly important role in history, even if she has (unfortunately) been forgotten by history today.

What happened to RMS Olympic after WW1?
RMS Olympic was the legendary ocean liner - and sister to the RMS Titanic - that served as a troopship for the British Royal Navvy during the first world war - but when the war was over and the guns were silent, what happened to the great ship? After HMHS Britannic was lost, Olympic was the sole surviving Olympic-class ocean liner and her owners, the White Star Line, had to work hard to ensure she remained a popular choice on the transatlantic service in the face of stiff competition from RMS Mauretania, RMS Aquitania and others.

RMS Olympic: Titanic's Unsinkable Sister
The Titanic's older sister, RMS Olympic had a long and colorful career with the White Star Line. Launched on October 20th, 1910, the Olympic was the largest ship in the world by far. The Olympic was a favorite Atlantic ocean liner long after the Titanic disaster, sailing for over two decades. She more than lived up to the dream envisioned by her builders and easily lived up to her nickname, Old Reliable.
