Queens Arcade (Welsh:Arcêd y Frenhines) shopping centre is located in the heart of Cardiff's city centre and celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2014 having opened on 28 April 1994.
Developed on the site of the Allders department store and the similarly named Queen Street Arcade, the main entrance is located on Queen Street, not far from Cardiff Castle and the second entrance faces Saint John The Baptist Church on Working Street and Cardiff Central Market.
The Arcade has two levels, and is unusual in that the levels are sloped, so that despite its two entrances being on the same level, the upper floor at the Working Street entrance is the ground floor at Queen Street. The centre internally connects with the St. David's Centre.
Queens Arcade recorded 11.2m annual footfall in 2012 and is anchored by New Look, Argos, Foot Locker and Post Office. Four of Queens Arcade’s stores – Argos, Christopher George, F Hinds and Whittard of Chelsea – have been in the centre from its launch and others from the opening year line up have changed their company names – such as Cookie Jar now Millie’s Cookies and Partners now Ryman.
Queens is the easternmost and largest in area of the five boroughs of New York City, geographically adjacent to the borough of Brooklyn at the western end of Long Island. Coterminous with Queens County since 1899, the borough of Queens is the second-largest in population (behind Brooklyn), with a census-estimated 2,321,580 residents in 2014, approximately 48% of them foreign-born. Queens County is also the second-most populous county in New York, behind the neighboring borough of Brooklyn, which is coterminous with Kings County. Queens is the fourth-most densely populated county among New York City's boroughs, as well as in the United States. If each New York City borough were an independent city, Queens would also be the nation's fourth most populous city, after Los Angeles, Chicago and Brooklyn. Queens is the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world.
The electoral district was abolished following the 2012 electoral boundary review and was largely replaced by the new electoral district of Queens-Shelburne.

Who says the arcade era is in the past? Clearly no one who's ever played Killer Queen, the 10-player action strategy standout that's become a favorite for competitive gamers who love the thrill of in-person competition with friends.

1880 Queens Arcade Belfast Walk Through
Tuesday 22nd November 2022.
Here I am on a Christmas 2022 walk through, of the historic and architecturally significant Queens Arcade in central Belfast.
I am very surprised that I have never filmed this famous arcade before. It is yet another of Belfast's hidden gems.
The Arcade was built in 1880, as a fashionable promenade and business thoroughfare. Queen’s Arcade is the last remaining Victorian Arcade in the city. Designed by the architect James McKinnon. It has been described as “at once fashionable as a promenade and highly attractive as a business thoroughfare”, containing “upwards of thirty finely fitted shops”. It is not only an important thoroughfare but has a rich history entwined with some of the Belfast’s leading citizens.

3. Snail victory - obviously the slowest means of a win but often the least suspected. Both teams can compete in a sluggish game of tug of war by riding the giant snail on the map into their team’s respective goal.
And where there’s a good team game, there’s a competitive scene.
The Killer Queen community is full of different leagues, tournaments, and all sorts of fun competitions, but none as big as BumbleBash, the official Killer Queen tournament hosted by BumbleBear Games themselves, that’s seen exponential growth since its start back in 2016.

Prior to the construction of The Arcade in 1880, the site was home to Dr James McDonnell from the late-18th to the mid-19th century. Dr McDonnell
1763-1845, is recognized as the Father of Belfast Medicine and among his many achievements was the co-founder of the Belfast Fever Hospital & Dispensary, which later became the Royal Victoria Hospital. In addition to this, he was also a founder member of the Linenhall Library and Royal Belfast Academical Institution, and established a music academy to teach blind children to play the harp. A blue plaque above the arcade entrance pays tribute to the great doctor. He is buried in the ancient Layd graveyard Cushendall Co Antrim.

In 1895, Sir Otto Jaffe, the leading 19th century Belfast philanthropist and entrepreneur, who twice was Belfast Lord Mayor, purchased the building. Another visionary, he was Governor of the Royal Victoria Hospital. His real passion was education. He funded Queen’s College, now Queen’s University, where he sat on a committee to lobby successfully for the Public Libraries Act to be extended to Belfast.
Since then, Queen’s Arcade has undergone two restorations, one in the 1935 carried out by Hobart & Heron Architects, and another in 2019. After many years in planning, with a team of specialist conservation architects and designers, the grand old Building has been restored back to its 19th century former glory. 120 years since it was born, Queen’s Arcade remains one of Belfast’s signature landmarks.
