As Prince Edward was primarily designed as a cross-platform interchange between the Kwun Tong and Tsuen Wan lines, although the Kwun Tong Line tracks had already been laid in 1979, the station was not used until the opening of the Tsuen Wan Line on 10 May 1982. During the first week of operation, the station served only as an interchange with no exits to the concourse or street level.
Location
Prince Edward Station and Mong Kok Station are the two closest stations in Hong Kong. They are only about 400 metres apart and the train takes less than one minute to travel from one station to the other.
Timetable
Station layout
Prince Edward is an opposite-directional cross-platform interchange station for southbound Kwun Tong Line passengers going towards Tsuen Wan and southbound Tsuen Wan Line passengers going towards Tiu Keng Leng. Mong Kok serves as the cross-platform interchange station for passengers travelling in the same direction.
Prince Edward Island (PEI or P.E.I.; French:Île-du-Prince-Édouard) is a province of Canada consisting of the island of the same name, as well as several much smaller islands.
It is one of the three Maritime Provinces and is the smallest province in both land area and population. It is the only province of Canada to have no land boundary. The island has several informal names: "Garden of the Gulf," referring to the pastoral scenery and lush agricultural lands throughout the province; and "Birthplace of Confederation" or "Cradle of Confederation", referring to the Charlottetown Conference in 1864, although PEI did not join Confederation until 1873, when it became the seventh Canadian province. The backbone of the economy is farming, as it produces 25% of Canada's potatoes. Historically, PEI is one of Canada's older settlements and demographically still reflects older immigration to the country, with Celtic, Anglo Saxon and French last names being overwhelmingly dominant to this day.
The islands in the group have been declared Special Nature Reserves under the South African Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, No. 57 of 2003, and activities on the islands are therefore restricted to research and conservation management. The only human inhabitants of the islands are the staff of a meteorological and biological research station run by the South African National Antarctic Programme on Marion Island.
Geography and geology
The island group is about 955nmi (1,769km; 1,099mi) south-east of Port Elizabeth in mainland South Africa. Marion Island (46°54′45″S37°44′37″E / 46.91250°S 37.74361°E / -46.91250; 37.74361 (Marion Island)), the larger of the two, is 25.03km (15.55mi) long and 16.65km (10.35mi) wide with an area of 290km2 (112sqmi) and a coastline of some 72km (45mi), most of which is high cliffs. The highest point on Marion Island is Mascarin Peak (formerly State President Swart Peak), reaching 1,242m (4,075ft) above sea level. Boot Rock is about 150 metres (492ft) off the northern coast.
The Legislature of Prince Edward Island had two levels of membership from 1893 to 1996 - Assemblymen and Councillors. This was a holdover from when the Island had a bicameral legislature, the General Assembly and the Legislative Council.
In 1893, the Legislative Council was abolished and had its membership merged with the Assembly, though the two titles remained separate and were elected by different electoral franchises. Assembleymen were elected by all eligible voters of within a district, while Councillors were only elected by landowners within a district.

Royal Family Focus: Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh.
Prince Edward is the youngest child of Queen Elizabeth II, and was third in line to the throne at the time of his birth. Born in 1964 at Buckingham Palace, he was christened at a private ceremony at Windsor Castle.
He attended schools in London and Berkshire before moving to Gordonstoun School in Scotland. He then attended Jesus College Cambridge, this caused controversy at the time as his A level results, D grades in history and politics and a C grade in English, were well below the usual entry standards.
Prince Edward obtained sponsorship for his time at university from the Royal Marines, who paid for his tuition in exchange for his service after university. But he dropped out of the gruelling commando training course part-way through, and left the Marines. This was probably a difficult moment for his father Prince Philip, who was the Captain General of the Royal Marines at the time.
Always passionate about theatre, Prince Edward then pursued a career in entertainment. Starting as a production assistant with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production company in 1988, he went on to found his own production company in 1993.
Prince Edward announced his engagement to Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999. The two had been close to each other since 1993. They got married at the chapel in Windsor Castle, rather than at Westminster Abbey, in contrast to his older siblings.
Prince Edward stepped away from his career in TV production in 2002, following a 2001 row where he was accused of ‘cashing in’ on his royal status after his production company broke royal privacy agreements by attempting to film his nephew Prince William while he was at university.
Prince Edward would start to perform royal duties full time from this point onwards. Prince Edward and Sophie, then the Countess of Wessex, would go on to have two children. Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor and James Mountbatten-Windsor.
Prince Edward would eventually become the new Duke of Edinburgh, a title previously held by his father Prince Philip, and Sophie would become the Duchess of Edinburgh. They remain two of the most prominent and publicly visible members of the Royal Family. Prince Edward has also taken over his father’s role in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, which encourages and supports young people to take part in volunteering, and outdoor expeditions.

We also keep with the military theme by visiting Stratfield Saye, home of the Duke of Wellington, where we find out that Queen Victoria was not amused by the temperature of the house!
0:49:20 - Rochester was famously both the scene of the first Royal abdication and ironically the restoration of the monarchy after Cromwell. Edward Windsor discovers a curious connection between the area's most prolific author Charles Dickens, the naval dockyards at Chatham, and Queen Victoria.

They are still responsible for organising many of England's grandest state occasions nearly one thousand years after they first held the post!
1:38:02 - Salisbury is an area steeped in myth and legend, from Stonehenge to the top of the spire in Salisbury Cathedral. Edward Windsor follows in the footsteps of his ancestors, and discovers how many Royal connections there are with this beautiful part of the country. We also unearth a forgotten Palace, and find out why a nobleman insisted on smuggling a factory worker to England in a butt of wine!
2:02:20 - In 1174 a few ill-chosen words from Henry II changed the course of history.

Facts tell: Did anyone die at HK's MTR Prince Edward Station? | 謠言粉碎機:831太子站真的“有人死亡”吗?
Rumors about casualties have been spreading since the riot at MTR Prince Edward Station in Hong Kong on August 31. Some Hong Kong media, such as Apple Daily, published articles about the violence without evidence in an attempt to mislead audiences. The metro administration released footage proving that no deaths occurred at the station that day, with medical authorities confirming that all injured were discharged from hospital. Accusations hurled at the Hong Kong authorities of "modifying" the official records of the incident were rejected by the fire department, which spokesperson explained that updating the log is common practice as investigation progresses for "a large-scale incident of this kind".

Edward, the King and Queens fourth child, had a great level of autonomy over his future compared to his siblings. Known as one of the most hardworking and well-respected figures of the monarchy, we take a look at the moments that define him as the trustworthy and respectful man that he has become.

'Is Prince Edward the Royal Family's New 'Leading Man'?'
It's been a difficult time for the Royal Family in recent month with the King and the Princess of Wales currently receiving cancer treatment.
This has meant other Royals have been taking on more engagements and responsabilities.
So much so that Prince Edward appears to have taken on a leading role within the Royal Family.

Unprecedented scenes of violence played out in Hong Kong’s MTR network on the night of Saturday, August 31, as police stormed into Prince Edward station and beat protesters on a train.
Protesters and their supporters accused police of beating commuters indiscriminately, but police said they were going after radicals who had changed their clothes and were pretending to be passengers.
Members of the police Special Tactical Squad, known as the Raptors, entered the station after the MTR reported that protesters were vandalising the premises and fighting with passengers.
Sixty three people were arrested following violence in Prince Edward and Mong Kok stations, which remained closed on Sunday.
