How did Egypt Take The Suez Canal?
The Suez Canal is one of the world’s busiest maritime channels. It links the North Atlantic to Asia via the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea and then to the Indian Ocean.
The Suez Canal plays a crucial role in the international oil trade with tankers going to and from the Middle East to Asia, Europe, and North America.
The canal runs about 190 kilometers through Egypt. Starting in the north from the Mediterranean at Port Said and running down to the Gulf of Suez in the Red Sea.
These days, the Suez Canal is managed and operated by the Egyptian government, through the Suez Canal Authority. Its annual revenue is estimated at around $5 billion dollars and it accounts for almost 10% of world seaborne trade.

Egyptian government evicts residents, demolishes houses in Port Said
On Sunday, accompanied by police, bulldozers began demolishing houses in Al-Gameel Neighbourhood, Port Said, Egypt, after evicting residents.
In 1978, the state granted 317 plots of land to citizens on the condition that they would build and develop them. In 2023, the Port Said municipality decided to remove the houses reportedly without providing any reason.
Residents took their case to court but were unable to reverse the decision. At least 2,500 families are believed to be affected by the demolitions.

Egypt's mystery of the Port Said snipers
http://www.euronews.com/ Local people in Port Said alerted euronews correspondent Mohammed Shaikhibrahim to the presence of a nearby sniper.
There was much pointing and shouting as attention was drawn to a building further down the street, where the sound of shooting was clearly coming from.
An orange ambulance did a U-turn; it was believed to be evacuating someone who had just been wounded.
It was claimed that minutes beforehand, four civilians were injured by the sniper's bullets.
"There are snipers," cried one man, in an agitated state. "They're killing people."
Others pointed out what appeared to be spent cartridges lying on the ground.
A closer look enabled a barred window in a low-rise building to be singled out. A figure could be seen peering out.
He was wearing a black ma...

CITY OF PORT SAID, Egypt🇪🇬
Port Said, is a city that lies in northeast Egypt extending along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, straddling the west bank of the northern mouth of the Suez Canal. It forms the majority of the Port Said governorate, where its seven districts comprise seven of the governorate's eight regions. The city was established in 1859 during the building of the Suez Canal, and at the beginning of 2023 had a population of 680,375 people.
Port Said is one of six governorates that make up the Suez Canal economic region, and is the home of the Suez Canal Authority historical administrative building and the Lighthouse of Port Said.
📍PORT FUAD
“Port Fuad".. A French city on an Egyptian land
It's an Afro-Asian Egyptian city, characterized by its location, as it's located at the east of Port Said on the northern entrance of the Suez Canal. It's the first point on the continent of Asia. It's boarded from the north by Mediterranean Sea, from the eastern direction by North Sinai governorate and from the southern by Ismailia.
The city of Port Fuad is considered an integral architectural masterpiece. It's constructed by the French in 1920 to be like sophisticated French cities as they thought that they would control the Suez Canal forever.
📍 SUEZ CANAL
The Suez Canal (Egyptian Arabic: قَنَاةُ ٱلسُّوَيْسِ, Qanāt es-Suwais) is an artificial sea-level waterway in Egypt, connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea through the Isthmus of Suez and dividing Africa and Asia (and by extension, the Sinai Peninsula from the rest of Egypt). The 193.30-kilometre-long (120.11 mi) canal is a key trade route between Europe and Asia.
📍FERYAL GARDEN
eryal Garden in Port Said reresent the former while acting as a role model for public gardens in Egypt.
Named after Princess Feryal, King Farouk’s eldest daughter, the garden was inaugurated in 1869 on the opening day of Suez Canal. Given its intimate proximity to the global trade waterway, the garden has hosted a myriad of world leaders including Empress Eugenie of France and Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria.
Overlooking the Suez Canal, the garden sits at the meeting point of main city boulevards. A meeting point for the city which, in turn, offers a unique vantage point.

A meeting point for the city which, in turn, offers a unique vantage point.

http://www.euronews.com/ Local people in Port Said alerted euronews correspondent Mohammed Shaikhibrahim to the presence of a nearby sniper.
He was wearing a black mask, what looked like a camouflaged vest - and appeared to be holding a gun as he scanned the street outside.
The man's presence raises more questions that it answers. Who was he: police, army, some kind of militant?
Our correspondent - who was taken to see more damage apparently caused by a sniper - says Egypt's military have not intervened in the violence; rather they have been protecting buildings important to the state, such as banks, government offices and power stations.
By late Monday, the death toll in recent violence in Port Said rose to at least 42 dead and over 1,000 wounded, according to medical sources in the city.
