CAIRO - 11 December 2024: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced a significant LE 10 billion allocation for major infrastructure projects in Port Said, emphasizing their role in enhancing logistics and supporting Egypt’s position as a regional trade hub. The announcement came during his visit to the city, coinciding with Port Said’s National Day.
The funds will be directed toward upgrading critical road networks, including the June 30 Corridor and the Coastal International Road linking Port Said to Damietta. These projects aim to improve logistical efficiency, reduce transport costs, and boost the movement of goods across the region. Focus was given to the “Ferry Road,” which will cut travel time between Port Said and its eastern industrial zones to just 30 minutes, unlocking significant economic potential.
Madbouly, joined by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Engineer Kamel El Wazir, inspected ongoing industrial projects in the city. He highlighted the importance of integrating infrastructure with industrial development, noting that 54% of Egypt’s ready-made garment exports originate from Port Said. Plans are also underway to establish a new 360-acre industrial zone by next year, further solidifying the city’s role as a critical player in export growth.
In addition to infrastructure and industry, housing and tourism initiatives were spotlighted. Madbouly inspected social housing projects under the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative and reviewed progress on the city’s tourist promenade, which is expected to attract domestic and international visitors, boosting local businesses.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these investments align with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to ensure sustainable economic growth and job creation across Egypt. Madbouly praised Port Said’s achievements in healthcare, housing, and economic transformation, describing the city as a model of inclusive development.
