How and why Oslo Accords failed
The Oslo Accords were considered historical, as it was the first time the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the state of Israel recognised each other. It also defined the end of occupation and a two-state solution. But the agreement has never been fully implemented.

Have Israelis & Palestinians Ever Made Peace? | The Oslo Accords Explained
Oct '23 Hamas-Israel War: youtube.com/watch?v=N1TXC9eQcJ4
After years at war, Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) sought out a change of pace. In January 1993, the Israelis and the Palestinians opened secret negotiations in Oslo, Norway. In September 1993, a series of peace agreements called the Oslo Accords were signed by Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO leader Yasser Arafat. However, within eight months, terror reigned down on Israel once again. A new agreement called Oslo Two was signed in an attempt to re-establish peace. Many Israelis and Palestinians were hopeful about the new agreement, yet the haunting events that followed still impact the Israeli-Palestinian peace process today.

The Oslo peace accords: Historic achievement or historic tragedy? | The Bottom Line
The peace treaty signed by Palestinian and Israeli leaders on 13 September 1993 was a game-changer.
The Oslo Accords, brokered by Norwegian diplomats, were supposed to be a five-year plan. Palestinians achieved some degree of self-rule in disjointed parts of their historic homeland in return for recognising Israel as a legitimate state.
Three decades later, the Oslo plan still governs the relationship between the Palestinians and the Israelis – but a lasting peaceful relationship between the two sides is as unattainable as ever.
Host Steve Clemons asks Palestinian politician Mustafa Barghouti and Israeli politician Yossi Beilin about what went wrong.

The Price of Oslo (Episode 1) | Al Jazeera World Documentary
Thirty years ago, after decades of conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, a prospect for peace emerged.
It was September 1993, and a handshake between Yitzhak Rabin, the then Israeli prime minister, and Yasser Arafat, the then leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization, on the lawn of the White House raised hopes that peace would finally come to the Middle East.
This two-part series traces the secret road to the Oslo Accords, telling the story of negotiations that took place in the political shadows and a search for common ground in the midst of a region in constant turmoil. At the centre of it all was an unlikely mediator: the Scandinavian country of Norway.

Israel-Palestine conflict: Palestinians disillusioned with Oslo Accords
Thirty years ago, the Oslo Accords were signed between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
The agreements were seen as a turning point in the conflict because it was the first time Israel and the PLO formally recognised one another.
Three decades on, the Oslo Accords are seen to have only served to cement Israel's occupation.
Al Jazeera’s Laura Khan reports from the occupied West Bank and Nida Ibrahim is in Bethlehem overlooking the illegal Israeli settlement of Har Homa.

Oslo Accords thirty years on: Is a two-State solution impossible? • FRANCE 24 English
It's 30 years since the first Oslo accord - a move that was touted as unprecendented for peace in the Middle East. An accord that saw the Israelis and the Palestinians sign a document that led to the establishment of the Palestinian Authority. And the idea of a two state solution written on paper and signed. Three decades on we are examining the success or failure of the Oslo process.
