Covering an area of 2,364 square kilometres (913 sq mi), Northamptonshire is landlocked between eight other counties: Warwickshire to the west, Leicestershire and Rutland to the north, Cambridgeshire to the east, Bedfordshire to the south-east, Buckinghamshire to the south, Oxfordshire to the south-west and Lincolnshire to the north-east – England's shortest county boundary at 19 metres (62ft). Northamptonshire is the southernmost county in the East Midlands region.
The constituency consisted of the historic county of Northamptonshire. Although the county contained a number of parliamentary boroughs, each of which elected one or two MPs in its own right for parts of the period when Northamptonshire was a constituency, these areas were not excluded from the county constituency. Owning freehold property of the required value, within such boroughs, could confer a vote at the county election. (After 1832, only non-resident owners of forty shilling freeholds situated in borough seats could qualify for a county vote on the basis of that property.)
What are the 10 prettiest towns in the county of Northamptonshire? To determine this, I visited them all. Here's what I found out.
As a disclaimer, this list is neither a social commentary, nor a guide on which are the nicest towns to live, but purely a judgement on the aesthetics of each respective town centre.

Roman town remains found in Northamptonshire field by HS2 archaeologists
Archaeologists working on the HS2 route have discovered how an Iron Age village in Northamptonshire developed into a wealthy Roman trading town.
Evidence found during a dig of the site near the village of Chipping Warden has shown how the settlement, believed to have been established in about 400 BC when it was made up of more than 30 roundhouses, expanded during the Roman era in the years around 300-400 AD, with new stone buildings and new roads emerging.
The site, known as Blackgrounds after the black soil found there, is one of more than 100 to have been examined by archaeologists between London and Birmingham since 2018, with experts saying it turned out to be “one of the most impressive”.

Overnight 4-5 January 2025 saw a transitional snow event push through Northants. The snow started at around 9PM and gradually became heavier over time. Between 12AM-2AM was where the heaviest of the snow occurred and left a covering of 2.5cm. By 2:30AM the snow eventually transitioned to freezing rain and then rain where a slow thaw began.

Prime Minister's Question Time, also referred to as PMQs, takes place every Wednesday the House of Commons sits. It gives MPs the chance to put questions to the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak MP.
In most cases, the session starts with a routine 'open question' from an MP about the Prime Minister's engagements. MPs can then ask supplementary questions on any subject, often one of current political significance.
The Leader of the Opposition, Sir Keir Starmer MP, asks six questions and the leader of the second largest opposition party asks two.

The chief constable of Northamptonshire Police Nick Adderley, who was suspended for lying about his military record has been found guilty of gross misconduct.
He has been suspended on full pay since October for exaggerating his own rank and length of service and lying about his naval achievements - including implying that he served in the Falklands War - despite being 15 when the conflict broke out in 1982.

The second video in my series of village walks around the county of Northamptonshire. This walk takes us from the charming village of Blisworth, situated five miles south of Northampton, along the course of the Grand Union Canal tunnel, which is the longest navigable canal tunnel in England. The walk takes us to the even more charming village of Stoke Bruerne, which is home to the Canal Museum and is a major tourist attraction in the county.

Cllr Daniel Lister, our Cabinet Member for Local Economy, Culture and Leisure, shares his thoughts on a wonderful weekend here in Northampton as we celebrate the reopening of the new-look Market Square.
Is Northampton a good place to live? What To See In Northampton Town Centre
Northampton is a town in England’s East Midlands region.
One of the largest towns in the country yet to receive city status, Northampton is home to an array of popular amenities and is easily reachable from a number of areas, wedged between the East Midlands and Buckinghamshire and overhanging the M1 motorway, making it a top destination for commuters and leisure travellers .
Northampton is the perfect combination of bustling urban life and peaceful countryside. There are plenty of green spaces to explore just outside of the town such as Sywell Country Park, Coton Manor Gardens, and Haddonstone Show Gardens, and stunning landscapes for walks and days outside.
Situated in the heart of England, Northampton is a town famous for its shoe industry that goes back hundreds of years in history. During the 1st World war, the shoemakers in Northamptonshire supplied over two-thirds of the 70 million pairs of footwear required, due to the thriving tanning industry in the area.
Northampton offers an array of shopping centres and shops, including independent retailers and major high street names.
Monday is fresh fruit, vegetables, cut flowers and plants only. Tuesday to Saturday are the general market days.
