Oregon BDR Section 7
The last section of the ORBDR leaves Government Camp on Highways 26 and 35. After leaving pavement, the route follows a blissful series of roads on a circuitous route through Mount Hood National Forest. The byways in this area to the southeast of Mount Hood are rocky and exposed at times, so keep your focus and ride within your ability. Factor in stopping at the numerous amazing viewpoints along the way. The route follows a short segment of the historic Old Barlow Wagon Road which unfortunately has been closed recently due to forest fires—hopefully it will open again soon. The track then heads true north following high elevation ridges on Gunsight Butte, Lookout Mountain, and Surveyors Ridge. The last ten miles are on pavement, but they are exceptionally scenic and pass through rural farms...

I May Have LOST Tim... Oregon BDR, Day 5: Sections 6 and 7 (Olallie Lake to Hood River)
The fifth and final day of our Oregon BDR motorcycle trip started at Olallie Lake with some epic views and delicious lakeside coffee. Motorcycle camping on the Oregon BDR is fantastic and there are so many amazing places to motocamp along the way.
Next up: finishing Oregon BDR section 6 and on to Oregon BDR section 7, featuring Bennett Pass and incredible views of Mt. Hood. Somewhere along the way on ORBDR section 7 I may have taken a wrong turn and lost my traveling companion Tim along the way.
The highlight of our ORBDR trip was that first glimpse of the Columbia River letting us know that we were almost at the end of the route. Completing the Oregon BDR was an amazing feeling and I hope that our example can inspire some of you to get out and do an ORBDR trip of your own.

7 Up (Easy Way) Off-Road Trail - Tillamook State Forest, Oregon
For the full trail guide please visit:
https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/2894-7-up-tillamook-state-forest
7 Up 4wd trail is an iconic and very difficult offroad trail that should only be attempted in highly modified vehicles and with highly qualified drivers, spotters, and winchers. The 4x4 trail is also a challenging but manageable adventure through the forest to the top of the hill. There are three legs to 7 Up which include two legs that are passable by normal 4x4s and average drivers and one leg that is a challenge for even the most built buggies. On warm summer afternoons, rock buggies can often be found battling up the eastern leg of 7 Up where they often break axles, drive lines, and occasionally flip over and crash down the hill. The other two legs are a popular trail that many...

The Goonies (1985) Filming Locations - Ecola State Park & Astoria | Oregon
In today’s journey through the Pacific Northwest we will explore several filming locations from the 1985 adventure film “The Goonies.” I fondly remember watching this movie many times throughout my childhood. Being able to travel to these extraordinary destinations from the film was a surreal experience that I will never forget. Today’s trip will begin from our previous stop in Cannon Beach, Oregon - which was utilized in filming The Goonies. This incredible beach stretches for 4 miles leading up to the famous Haystack Rock formation - the centerpiece of this beach.
After exploring the various tidal pools and witnessing the power of the Pacific Ocean it was now time to travel to today’s first stop on this itinerary. Ecola State Park is a cliffside paradise located just a few minutes away...

About Backcountry Discovery Routes:
Backcountry Discovery Routes® (BDR®) is a non-profit organization that creates off-highway routes for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel. We have introduced a new route with free GPS tracks for the community every year since 2010.
Routes can be downloaded from our website at www.ridebdr.com
Our work includes rider education, safety campaigns and promoting responsible travel for motorcyclists traveling in the backcountry.
Our volunteer-powered organization works with agencies and land managers to keep trails and remote roads open for motorcycling.
Each route generates new tourism that delivers sustainable economic relief to less-advantaged rural communities. This creates local stakeholders who will help fight to keep access for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles in these incredible backcountry areas.

The other two legs are a popular trail that many overlanders enjoy throughout the year. The two more mild legs wind up and down through a deep, dark forest where night time comes hours ahead of schedule. Thick moss hangs from the trees in some areas and lends a magical, enchanted aura to the trail especially in the late afternoon and early evening.

Ecola State Park is a cliffside paradise located just a few minutes away from Cannon Beach. Wrapping around Tillamook Head, between Seaside and Cannon Beach, Ecola State Park stretches along 9 miles of coastline and offers outstanding sightseeing and recreation opportunities combined with a storied past. Sightseeing opportunities begin the moment you enter the park. The entrance road meanders through a lush Sitka spruce forest, eventually opening up to a grassy bluff offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. You may recognize the viewpoint south, a scene from many published photographs. Sea stacks punctuate the long sweep of shoreline south, backed by the town of Cannon Beach and ridge of coastal mountains above. The “Lighthouse Lounge” restaurant was constructed at Ecola State Park for the filming of the Goonies. A scene from the 1990 film Kindergarten Cop with Arnold Schwarzenegger was also filmed here.
After a remarkable stop at Ecola State Park we then continued north through Seaside en route to Astoria - home of the Goondocks. The next stop for today is the Oregon Film Museum located within the heart of downtown Astoria. Housed in the old Clatsop County Jail, a working jail from 1914 through 1976, the museum continues the building’s legacy as an actual working set for three movies: The Goonies, Short Circuit, and Come See The Paradise. There are several interactive exhibits throughout the museum in which you can take your own mugshot, produce your own movie scene and explore the gift shop.
The final stop in today’s video is the Goonies house itself - located on 368 38th St. in Astoria Oregon. I would recommend parking on the street further away from the house, since it is private property. I highly recommend visiting all of these places if you are a fan of this classic film, you will not regret it. Join me on an all new adventure through the Pacific Northwest!
