Boys High School is a historic and architecturally notable public school building in the Bedford–Stuyvesant, neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. It is regarded as "one of Brooklyn's finest buildings."
The building was erected in 1891 on the west side of Marcy Avenue between Putnam Avenue and Madison Street. It was designed by James W. Naughton, Superintendent of Buildings for the Board of Education of the City of Brooklyn. The building is regarded as Naughton's "finest work."
High school is the last segment of compulsory secondary education in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Scotland, the United States, and other countries; the term also refers to the building where such education takes place.
High school may also refer to:
Education
Folk high school, institutions of adult and continuing education common in the Nordic countries and Germany
In most jurisdictions, secondary education in the United States refers to the last four years of statutory formal education (grade nine through grade twelve) either at high school or split between a final year of 'junior high school' and three in high school.
History
The United States historically had a demand for general skills rather than specific training/apprenticeships. High school enrollment increased when schools at this level became free, laws required children to attend until a certain age, and it was believed that every American student had the opportunity to participate regardless of their ability.
In 1892, in response to many competing academic philosophies being promoted at the time, a working group of educators, known as the "Committee of Ten" was established by the National Education Association. It recommended twelve years of instruction, consisting of eight years of elementary education followed by four years of high school. Rejecting suggestions that high schools should divide students into college-bound and working-trades groups from the start, and in some cases also by race or ethnic background, they unanimously recommended that "every subject which is taught at all in a secondary school should be taught in the same way and to the same extent to every pupil so long as he pursues it, no matter what the probable destination of the pupil may be, or at what point his education is to cease."
The school regularly ranks highly among schools in New South Wales in terms of academic achievement, ranking 4th in the state in the 2011 Higher School Certificate, and has produced numerous notable alumni, or "Old Boys".
History
Although Fort Street High School was established in 1849, Sydney Boys High School is the first state high school in New South Wales created under PremierHenry Parkes' public education system in the early 1880s, following the Public Instruction Act 1880 (NSW). Whereas Fort Street Model School as it was founded took primary and secondary students neither Sydney Boys nor Sydney Girls High School has ever had a primary education division and are thus the first NSW state high schools founded for the express purpose of secondary education.
North Sydney Boys High School is an academically selective, publichigh school for boys, located at Crows Nest in Sydney, Australia. North Sydney Boys High School is known for its high academic performance in the HSC. In the 2011, 2012 and 2014 HSC, North Sydney Boys High School ranked 2nd in the state.
History
North Sydney Boys began off site in temporary classes in 1912. At the end of 1914, 89 boys transferred to the permanent home on the corner of Falcon Street and Miller Street, Crows Nest. The School chose the Falcon as its logo according to the location of the school on Falcon Street, even going as far as to name its Old Boys Alumni "Old Falconians" in 1933. After years of controversy, it has been decided to celebrate the centenary in 2012.
The first headmaster was Nimrod Greenwood. He had been headmaster of the North Sydney Superior School before the establishment of the High School and had 33 years of service as Headmaster of the two schools. On his retirement in 1915, he was succeeded by C R Smith who had founded Newcastle High School and was to go to head Sydney High School in 1918. Smith was succeeded by the headmaster who had replaced him at Newcastle High School, William Williams, who guided the school for the next 13 years. On his promotion to Inspector, Williams was succeeded also succeeded by the then Headmaster of Newcastle Boys High School, R F Harvey, in 1932; Harvey was head until his death in 1947.

Joshua Chan's Sky News Interview - North Sydney Boys' Record-Breaking HSC Results
Enjoy :-)
I'm really proud that Sky News let me loose on air this morning to talk about NSB's unprecedented success this year! I had a great time recounting our surreal victory, congratulating James Ruse, and most importantly of all, thanking you guys, my friends, teachers, family members, and peers who have been invaluable on this journey to success. I really appreciate Jordan helping me out and Sky giving me this opportunity as well - even if we don't necessarily agree on politics it's really important to engage in this valuable discourse about education and success in Australia - this is how our differences should unite us.

My Instagram/LinkedIn Victory Post:
When I made my final address to this legendary cohort with our school vice-captain, Ravi, to the Class of 2023 at our Graduation Dinner, I knew that we could be the ones to disrupt history, tear down old records and soar to new heights. It was palpable; the same feeling with this cohort at every turn; on camps, at year meetings, in study rooms during free periods, and when we achieved 6 state ranks in 2021. This feeling of "yep, we're the special cohort. We've got it in us." We said this was coming. We predicted this. And boy have we proven ourselves right, at every turn and in every fight. I am so incredibly humbled and honoured for my photos (including the ones I took) and statements to have been placed on national news and the front page of SMH, which truly immortalise our achievements and the effort it took us to get here. And for each and every one of your incredible achievements which deserve articles of their own, no matter your school, no matter your mark, no matter your ATAR, congratulations. You gave it your all and you have triumphed. Every teacher, every friend, every family member, and every peer marching in lockstep together through the HSC and Year 12 has left absolutely nothing in the tank in the journey towards achieving this goal. Ultimately, congratulations to everybody for their brilliant results, anticipated or otherwise. And may our Falcon Spirit shine eternally bright down the emerging path of our futures. FLY FALCON FLY.🦅🦅🦅
I'm also pleased to announce that I am sharing my knowledge and experiences with enthusiastic and dedicated students as a private tutor: if you or someone you know would like a deeper understanding of high school subjects or standardised tests, don't hesitate to get in contact with me by searching me up on High School Tutors!

Bubble gum and house parties When you stole your parents rum And tried to screw everything that could breathe Back in high school we didn't have a whole lot to do We watched the world go by on the television screen Said it's the 90's kids that's way out this is way in Go beat each other up on the dance floor Told us drugs were no good But then we smoked 'em and liked 'em So much that we smoked a little more We liked 'em so much, we smoked a little more Did I call your name? Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you? You're so the same but your so different I didn't recognize you It's kinda hard with all that sexual confusion Sometimes you don't know if you're gay or straight But what's the difference, it's a wonderful illusion Most times you won't make it past second base I'm in a band, we kinda suck but we don't now it yet And I don't care anyway 'Cuz soon, I'm gonna sell these drums, pay my rent Support my kid and tell him all about way back in daddy's day I'll tell him all about way back in daddy's day Did I call your name? You're so the same but your so different I didn't recognize you Some years later by a soda coolerator In a corner store back in my home town This stranger smiles at me, said "Remember the class of '93?" And for some reason it makes him look real proud After all the good times he said we had He looks at me, scratches his head And asked me where the hell I ever went And the funny thing is that I never even knew him But he coulda been any one of my high school friends Did I call your name? Did you hear me singin' that song that I wrote for you? Your so the same but your so different I didn't recognize you Did I call you name? Singin' that song that I wrote for you Singin' that song I wrote for you
