The son of an impoverished Bedouin goat herder, Gaddafi became involved in politics while at school in Sabha, subsequently enrolling in the Royal Military Academy, Benghazi. Founding a revolutionary cell within the military, in 1969 they seized power from the absolute monarchy of King Idris in a bloodlesscoup. Becoming Chairman of the governing Revolutionary Command Council (RCC), Gaddafi abolished the monarchy and proclaimed the Republic. Ruling by decree, he implemented measures to remove what he viewed as foreign imperialist influence from Libya, and strengthened ties to Arab nationalist governments. Intent on pushing Libya towards "Islamic socialism", he introduced sharia as the basis for the legal system and nationalized the oil industry, using the increased revenues to bolster the military, implement social programs and fund revolutionary militants across the world. In 1973 he initiated a "Popular Revolution" with the formation of General People's Committees (GPCs), purported to be a system of direct democracy, but retained personal control over major decisions. He outlined his Third International Theory that year, publishing these ideas in The Green Book.
For instance, a Latin transliteration of the Greek phrase "Ελληνική Δημοκρατία", usually translated as 'Hellenic Republic', is "Ellēnikḗ Dēmokratía".
Transliteration is not concerned with representing the sounds of the original, only the characters, ideally accurately and unambiguously. Thus, in the above example, λλ is transliterated as 'll', but pronounced /l/; Δ is transliterated as 'D', but pronounced 'ð'; and η is transliterated as 'ē', though it is pronounced /i/ (exactly like ι) and is not long.
Conversely, transcription notes the sounds but not necessarily the spelling. So "Ελληνική Δημοκρατία" could be transcribed as "elinikí ðimokratía", which does not specify which of the /i/ sounds are written as η and which as ι.
Definitions
Systematic transliteration is a mapping from one system of writing into another, typically grapheme to grapheme. Most transliteration systems are one-to-one, so a reader who knows the system can reconstruct the original spelling.

A Brief History of Muammar Gaddafi
From his extravagant robes, to his signature sunglasses, and his band of female bodyguards, Muammar Gaddafi was as eccentric as he was enigmatic. Embraced by South African President Nelson Mandela for his support for various black liberation movements both within and outside of Africa, but dubbed the ‘Mad Dog of the Middle East’ by American President Ronald Reagan for his defiantly anti-Western foreign policies, Gaddafi’s 42 year reign as Libya’s Leader would see him win the allegiance and adoration many African leaders while simultaneously becoming a universal figure of hate all around the Western world.

Jubilant Libyan fighters parade Gaddafi's body
http://www.euronews.net/ Pictures that some will find disturbing show Muammar Gaddafi's bloodsoaked body being paraded like a trophy by jubilant fighters.

🇱🇾 The Death of Gaddafi | The Big Picture
October 20th 2011, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi is dragged from a drain pipe, tortured and killed.
Libya’s self-proclaimed ‘Brother Leader, the one-time revolutionary who overthrew a king and promised a country governed by the people, met his end at the hands of a new generation of revolutionaries, Libyans seeking an end to Gaddafi’s often brutal 42-year rule.
But as the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ uprisings deposed leaders to the east and west of Libya in Egypt and Tunisia, was the fall of Gaddafi inevitable? Was it always destined to be so bloody? And was it simply the unleashed rage of a beleaguered population or were external factors - and external powers – involved in the violence that ripped Libya apart?
This short film uncovers the moments that led up to the protests in the east of Liby...

*Synopsis | Gaddafi's Last Stand (2011)*
It started with a single voice, a young fruit vendor in a small North African market who one day shouted: "Enough!" It then became one of the largest demonstrations of people power ever seen in the Arab world. In 2011, Ray Martin has spent a fortnight in the Middle East, including a week in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, where Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, the man known as The Mad Dog, was desperately clinging to power.

The former Libyan leader was accused of bombing Pan Am Flight 103 in Scotland, a charge he always denied. After this Libya remained under international isolation for years.
When the uprising gathered momentum earlier this year he blamed everyone, from US to al-Qaeda, and called the protesters rats and cats of Libya.

This short film uncovers the moments that led up to the protests in the east of Libya and how they turned into a full-scale rebellion. It charts the Gaddafi regime’s response as well as its ultimate demise, and, explores the role of international actors in the break-up of Libya and the death of Gaddafi.

Transliteration
For languages that don’t use the Latin script, e.g., Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Sinhala and many others spoken around the world, typing can be challenging as keyboards/keypads mostly default to Latin characters. That makes creating content in vernacular languages difficult.
With NeuralSpace’s Transliteration App, you can create content in these languages using your Latin keypad. It also enables developers to match international databases (of products, for example) to customer queries in local languages that do not use the Latin script. For instance, when a customer in Sri Lanka searches for a new pair of Nike shoes through Amazon’s chat assistant, she will type නයික් සපත්තු and NeuralSpace’s Transliteration would scan Amazon’s English-written database for Nike shoes.

What is the 'Transliteration' of Hieroglyphs?
When it comes to bringing Ancient Egyptians' names - the people, the places, the gods - into modern languages, the first step is something called 'transliteration'.
If you've ever tried to look up a Pharaoh's name and seen a strange cluster of consonants you can't get your tongue around, it's probably the transliteration you're looking at. I discuss some of the main forms of transliteration used today, and give some examples.

A senior National Transitional Council official has said that deposed Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has died of his wounds after being captured near his hometown of Sirte.
Muammar Gaddafi came to power in 1969 in a coup at the age of 27 and went on to rule Libya for 42 years with an iron fist.
He has left Libya in tatters and despite the vast oil wealth, a vast majority of Libyans still live on about $2 a day and 40% remain unemployed.
Gaddafi wanted to be the leader of the Arab world and modeled himself on Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser.
He published the Green Book which established rule of the people but in reality he exercised absolute power.
The former Libyan leader was accused of bombing Pan Am Flight 103 in Scotland, a charge he always denied. After this Libya remained under international isolation for years.
When the uprising gathered momentum earlier this year he blamed everyone, from US to al-Qaeda, and called the protesters rats and cats of Libya.

http://www.euronews.net/ Pictures that some will find disturbing show Muammar Gaddafi's bloodsoaked body being paraded like a trophy by jubilant fighters.
Those who suffered under his regime may not care, but how Libya's former dictator was killed after apparently being captured may prove controversial.
There are conflicting accounts. A video filmed around the time of his capture offers some clues. In it, Gaddafi appears wounded as he is led away after being caught following NATO's air strike.

Thanks for watching, my curious fellows, and always remember we love 💝 you all.
This short film uncovers the moments that led up to the protests in the east of Libya and how they turned into a full-scale rebellion. It charts the Gaddafi regime’s response as well as its ultimate demise, and, explores the role of international actors in the break-up of Libya and the death of Gaddafi.
On the ground in Libya as Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, the 'Mad Dog of Africa', desperately clings to power.
