Mount Whitney // Skiing the Mountaineer’s Route
The first time I climbed Mount Whitney I saw some people dragging their skis up the Couloir towards the summit. I made a mental note to come back with skis. It took a couple years but I’ve returned to Inyo National Forest just outside Lone Pine, California. I’ve got Skis and there’s no shortage of snow. Just 5 miles and 6,200ft of uphill stands between me and a sunny, windless Mount Whitney summit. Some may notice I say the elevation is just below 14,500ft. It seems there is some debate online about the actual elevation of Mount Whitney. I’ve seen three different numbers 14,505, 14,497, and 14,494. I’m just an Amateur so I include a couple different numbers in my video. Even with the elevation undecided it is still the undisputed highest point in the lower 48. The mountain stands 86 feet o...

Mount Whitney: Taking the Mountaineers Route to the Highest Peak In the Lower 48
Blake doesn't let 20 hours of driving and explosive night time diarrhea stop him from summiting Whitney, the highest peak in the contiguous united states. It's height may sometimes be disputed, but it's majestic beauty is not. In this video we take the mountaineers route up and the Whitney Portal trail down from it's lofty 14,505 ft summit. Even with the snow, we still got a taste of those 99 switchbacks from the ridge down to the trailhead. For Blake they felt like they went on forever.

Hiking Mt. Whitney in the Snow! No Permit Lottery, No Crowds
Mount Whitney, the tallest peak in the contiguous United States - finally!
Mt. Whitney is one of the most popular hikes in the U.S., which means not only is it one of the most beautiful places you'll ever see, it's also nearly impossible to snag a permit to hike it during peak season. Thankfully, the Mt. Whitney permit lottery is only required for part of the year, and during the off season, though permits are required, there is no quota. The greatest challenge of hiking Mt. Whitney in the off season is the weather - snow storms can make the trail icy, dangerous, and often impassable. Just our luck, an atmospheric river dumped multiple feet of snow on the Whitney range just a week before our hike. We prepared for the worst, brought all our winter hiking gear (including crampons), and were...

Summiting Mount Whitney 4K | Record Snow Year | June 4th 2023 | HARDEST Hike of My Life #peak #hike
Follow along as I summit the TOUGHEST trail of my life, Mount Whitney. This is the tallest peak in the contiguous USA, sitting at a cool 14,505ft. The trail was 80% covered in snow, which actually made it nearly impossible to stick to a clear path. We hike 17.5 miles in 14 hours and gained over 7,000 feet of elevation.
I had several really scary experience on the way down the mountain due to all the soft snow. But I completed the trail safely, which is all I can ask for! I am really excited to share this video with you, I hope you enjoy watching!

John Muir Trail & Mt. Whitney Climb July August 2022
Between July 12th and August 6th of 2022, I joined 6 other people and two Sierra Mountain Center guides and backpacked 225 miles to complete the John Muir Trail. We hiked for 24 days averaging 9.5 miles per day and traveled South to North which meant that we were going opposite of the flow of most hikers. Along the way we went over 14 mountain passes (six of which were over 11,000 feet) for a total elevation gain of 51,304 feet.
We started at Cottonwood Campground and hiked 4 days to reach Crabtree Camp, which would be our base camp for climbing and reaching the 14,505-foot summit of Mt. Whitney on day 5. We officially joined the JMT trail on day 6 and spent another 18 days making our way North to the Happy Isles Trailhead in Yosemite Valley. Along the way we would receive 5 re-supp...

We prepared for the worst, brought all our winter hiking gear (including crampons), and were ready to turn around if conditions were too rough. Much to our surprise, we were greeted with warm weather, hard packed snow along the trail, and a Whitney summit with zero crowds!
#mtwhitney #hiking #winterhiking
DISCLAIMER: Mount Whitney is a potentially dangerous hike, especially in the off season. Do not attempt this hike without the proper experience, equipment, and emergency communication device. Know how to assess trail conditions, and be prepared to turn around at any time. As always, climb at your own risk.

Mt. WHITNEY (4 421 m / 14505 ft) is the highest peak of Contiguous United States (the lower 48 States except
Alaska). It is located in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California. We made our hike in the begeining of May and there was still a lot of snow on the route. We started our 1 day hike from Whitney portal near Lone Pine (2 552 m / 8 374 ft) and hiked up to the summit of Mt. WHITNEY and back. The whole hike was very challenging for its lenght, elevation, a lot of snow and high altitude. Especially because one day before we were in Death Valley at the lowest point of USA Badwater Basin 86 m below sea level. So we did not have enaugh time for aclimatization. We made it basicly from the U.S. lowest point to the highest point in just 24 hours :)

Along the way we would receive 5 re-supplies keeping our pack weight between 35 and 40 pounds.
This video is not meant as a "How To" but rather to hopefully inspire, motivate and encourage you to make this journey if it is on your list!
