Sultan Suleiman invades Hungary, Queen Mary escapes (Carlos, rey emperador)
The Turks, led by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, invade an important Christian kingdom of Europe, Hungary - destroying the Hungarian troops at the Battle of Mohács on 29 August 1526, killing the 20-year-old king Louis II, and even capturing and raiding the capital, Budapest. The news crushes Europe and everyone fears for the Christendom. Mary, Queen of Hungary - A True Habsburg
Juana the Mad, Queen of Castile and Aragon, was famously locked up by the men in her life for—as they claimed—being insane. All four of her daughters became queens-consort in great nations across the continent. The second-youngest, Mary, was married to the King of Hungary, whom she dearly loved, until his tragic end in battle. Remaining a widow for the rest of her life, she was a dutiful sister to her brothers, reluctantly serving as both regent of Hungary and Governor of the Netherlands on their requests. She was truly a Habsburg.

Today is the 625th death anniversary of Mary of Anjou, King of Hungary.
I could write a book about her life (it's my plan to write someday), so I'm going to tell you the most important things about her.
Mary became king at age of 11, when her father, Louis the Great passed away. She had many tragedies in her life, she had too see three people's death before her eyes: her cousin's - who took away her throne for a little time -, her mother's lover - who was the palatine -, and her mother's. At this time Mary wasn't over 16...
Her marriage was a tragedy: Sigismund of Luxembourg treated her unwell, he humiliated her many times. For example Mary gave donations to a church, and then Sigismund took it back...
She wasn't allowed to rule: in her first years on the thrown was controlled by her mother, Elizabeth of Bosnia, and later Mary was controlled by Sigismund of Luxembourg.
And the question is, how she died? The chronicle says that she rode alone, and when she fell off her horse, due to the trauma she gave birth to her son, but when the nuns found them, it was too late. But this is hilarious. Even a noble can't ride out alone, especially why would Mary rode out when she was near to giving birth? Also many historican people just wrote "Mary died", nothing concrete. In my opinion, we have the chance that she might have been killed... But one thing is certain: she died at age of 24, with her son, in 17th of May 1395.
She totally became my favourite queen, I just adore, respect, and sorry her. I truly want to be a researcher for her, and I'm praying that I will be able to find out something new about her - because we don't have too much informations about her...
And as you can see, the show doesn't portay her well. If I dare to say, they show Jadwiga as victim, but in my opinion Mary suffered more ( Don't misunderstand me, I stan Jadwiga too, and of course she suffered a lot too).
I hope you liked my video!
