"Make You Happy" is a song by Canadian recording artist Celine Dion, taken from her fourth English-language studio album, Falling into You (1996). Written by Andy Marvel and produced by Ric Wake, "Make You Happy" is a "bouncy" pop song, with influences of reggae and funk. Lyrically, the song talks about Dion pleading someone for commitment in a relationship. "Make You Happy" was released as a promotional single from the album on July 7, 1997 in Brazil only. Critics commended the song for its catchiness.
Background and release
In 1993, Dion released her third English-language studio album, The Colour of My Love, succeeding with the single "The Power of Love", a cover of Jennifer Rush's hit. Later, Dion released her second live album, À l'Olympia, in 1994, and her tenth French-language studio album, D'eux, in 1995. The album spawned the huge hit "Pour que tu m'aimes encore", her first song to chart in many countries worldwide, and eventually the track was later recorded in English and was set to included on her forthcoming album in English.
Make You Happy is a compilation album by Australian rock band Divinyls, which was released on October 21, 1997. It consists of material spanning from 1981 to 1993 including the hits "Boys in Town", "Science Fiction", "Pleasure and Pain" and their number-one signature song "I Touch Myself". The album's name comes from "I'll Make You Happy", the B-side of "Science Fiction" and a cover version of the 1960s track by The Easybeats. Track 20, "Love in Motion", is a 1992 rerecording of Icehouse's 1981 single with Divinyls' Christina Amphlett featuring on co-lead vocals.
Despite being released in 1997, this compilation did not include recordings from the band's 1996 album Underworld.
Great Escape is the second solo album by Irish singer Tara Blaise. It was released on 2 May 2008 (See 2008 in music) by Spokes Records.
