George Riley Puckett (May 7, 1894 – July 13, 1946) was an American country music pioneer mostly known for being a member of Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers.
Puckett was born in Dallas, Paulding County, Georgia. An accident during infancy left him blind. He had his formal education at the Georgia School for the Blind in Macon, Georgia.
He sang and played guitar and banjo. He was first heard on the radio as a part of Clayton McMichen's Hometown Band.
His vocalizing was a regular feature at the Georgia Old-Time Fiddlers Conventions. Newspaper reporters covering these events referred to him as the "Bald Mountain Caruso" in admiration of his renditions of such songs as "When You and I Were Young, Maggie" and "Sleep, Baby, Sleep". For several years Puckett played and sang with the Home Town Boys, a string-band ensemble composed of Atlanta-area musicians. They made their debut on Atlanta's six-month-old radio station, WSB, on September 18, 1922. Until going off the air in 1926, they remained one of the station's most popular acts.
Little Sister may refer to:
Little Sister was an American all-female vocal harmony group, which served primarily as the background vocalists for the influential rock/funk band Sly and the Family Stone in concert and on record. Originally a gospel music group called The Heavenly Tones, Little Sister was composed of Vet Stewart (Family Stone frontman Sly Stone's little sister), Mary McCreary, and Elva Mouton, and became a recording act of its own for a brief period in 1970-1971.
While still in high school, Vaetta Stewart and her friends Mary McCreary, Elva Mouton and Tramaine Hawkins had a gospel group called The Heavenly Tones and performed at various venues around the Oakland/San Francisco area. In 1966 they recorded the album "I Love The Lord" for the Gopsel label, and a 45 for the Music City label called "He's Alright" When Vaetta's older brother Sylvester aka Sly Stone formed Sly and the Family Stone with their brother Freddie, and friends Larry Graham, Cynthia Robinson, Jerry Martini, and Greg Errico, the Heavenly Tones were recruited directly out of high school to become Little Sister, Sly & the Family Stone's background vocalists for their recording. Tramaine Hawkins left the group and started a very successful solo career.
"Little Sister" is a rock and roll song written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman. It was originally released as a single in 1961 by American singer Elvis Presley, who enjoyed a No. 5 hit with it on the Billboard Hot 100. The single (as a double A-side with "(Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame") also reached No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart. Lead guitar was played by Hank Garland, with backing vocals by the The Jordanaires featuring the distinctive bass voice of Ray Walker.
Presley performs the song as part of a medley with "Get Back" in the 1970 rockumentary film Elvis: That's the Way It Is. The song would later be covered by such artists as Dwight Yoakam, Robert Plant, The Nighthawks, The Staggers, Pearl Jam, Ry Cooder and Jesse and the Rippers.
The song lyric makes mention of "Jim Dandy" which was the title of a 1956 song "Jim Dandy" by LaVern Baker. An answer song to "Little Sister", with the same melody but different lyrics, was recorded and released under the title "Hey, Memphis" by Baker on Atlantic Records (Atlantic 2119-A) in September 1961.

The story of this piece begins with "I remember my childhood," and from there, it becomes apparent that this is roughly a ghost story. Although I haven't done any animal abuse, the overall situation is still quite absurd. At the elementary school I attended, there was a sandpit used for long jumps on the playground. Every time it rained, if the rain was heavy enough, the sandpit would fill with rainwater and turn into a small pond. Before long, it would be filled with tadpoles. My second sister and I used to follow our classmates to catch tadpoles and bring them home to raise into little frogs. Back then, we thought it was just fun playing with water and observing nature. We never considered where the tadpoles would go when the water evaporated. In my junior year of college, I composed a p...

Hey, little sister
Did that boy make you cry, did he steal your heart away with a look in his eye
Are you feeling like your world is over now
Hey, little sister
Everything will be alright, what you feel is gonna change all your tears will dry
Time has a way of healing hearts that break somehow
Don't give up on love cause this one's let you down
Tonight you've lost lost the only one you want
Seems all you've got all you've got left is yesterday
But time won't stop (uh-uh)
And when all your crying stops tomorrow comes
Hey, little sister you've gotta trust me (Just a part of love)
Soon you'll open up your eyes and the sun is gonna shine a light you never seen
There's so much more to love than what you're feeling now
Someday you'll find someone who'll never let you down
Tonight you've lost lost the only one you want
Seems all you've got all you've got left is yesterday (all you've got is yesterday)
But time won't stop (it don't stop)
And when all your crying stops tomorrow comes (tomorrow comes)
It's alright, hey little sister
And you gotta wake up and face up that breaking up's just a part of loving
So his kiss hit you hard it broke your heart but it don't mean nothing
You gotta wake up and face up that breaking up's just a part of loving
The hurt you feel, yes it's real, but it's gonna heal as a new day's coming
Tonight you've lost lost the only one you want (one you want)
Seems all you've got all you've got left is yesterday (yesterday)
But time won't stop (time won't stop) (it won't stop, it won't stop)
And when all your crying stops tomorrow comes (and when all your crying stops)
Come on little sister
Tonight you've lost lost the only one you want (one you want)
Seems all you've got all you've got left is yesterday
But time won't stop
