Leon Jackson (born 30 December 1988) is a Scottish singer. He won the fourth series of British talent show The X Factor in 2007. Following his win, Jackson was the main star of his on-web series entitled Leon's Life, which ran from 2007 until 2008. Jackson's début album, Right Now (2008) finished the year as the 75th best-selling album in the UK, and included the singles, "Don't Call This Love", "Creative" and "Stargazing".
Jackson's debut single, "When You Believe", a cover of a song sung by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey and composed and written by Stephen Schwartz, sold over 400,000 copies, and was the 92nd best-selling single of the 2000s in the UK, and was the third best-selling of 2007. Jackson had the best selling single from a British Male Artist in 2007 beating the likes of Mika, Take That and Mark Ronson in the best-selling male category, and being beaten by Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love" and Rihanna's "Umbrella" to the number one and number two positions, respectively.
The shows on 5 October, 9 November and 7 December 2013 were hosted by Daly and Winkleman, with Forsyth taking time off. The show was broadcast live from Blackpool Tower Ballroom on 16 November 2013.
The series was won by Abbey Clancy and Aljaž Skorjanec on 21 December 2013. This was also the last series to feature Forsyth as a main host. The series was also notable due to Brendan Cole becoming the first professional dancer to reach three separate finals.
Couples
On 1 June 2013, it was revealed that Flavia Cacace, Vincent Simone, Erin Boag and Aliona Vilani would be leaving the show. They would be replaced by four new professionals, Aljaž Skorjanec, Janette Manrara, Iveta Lukosiute and Emma Slater. However, on 22 August 2013 it was announced that Slater would move to the US version of the show Dancing with the Stars and that she would be replaced by Anya Garnis. It was also confirmed that Kevin Clifton would be joining the show, bringing the total number of couples to fifteen, one more than the fourteen competing in the previous year. On 2 September 2013 it was reported that professional dancer Natalie Lowe had injured her foot and would be replaced by Aliona Vilani who, however, was eliminated first.
Strictly Come Dancing returned for its ninth series on 10 September 2011 with a launch show, with the live shows starting on 30 September and 1 October 2011. The show was broadcast from Wembley Arena on 19 November with all proceeds going to the BBC charity, Children in Need. The final took place at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and was the first episode in 3D, and was shown on BBC HD and 18 cinemas around the country. As in series 8 there are 14 couples with one new male professional, Pasha Kovalev, replacing Jared Murillo.
Come Dancing was a British ballroom dancing competition show that ran on and off on the BBC from 1949 to 1998, becoming one of television's longest-running shows.
The show was created by Eric Morley, the founder of Miss World, and began in 1949 by broadcasting from regional ballroom studios, with professional dancers Syd Perkin and Edna Duffield on hand to offer teaching.
In 1953 the format changed to become a competition, with later series seeing regions of the United Kingdom going head to head for the coveted trophy.
"Come Dancing" is a 1982 song written by Ray Davies and performed by British rock group the Kinks on their 1983 album State of Confusion. The song was inspired by Ray's memories of his older sister, Rene, who died of a heart attack while dancing at a dance hall. The track, sung from the perspective of an "East Endbarrow boy," contains lyrics about dates at a local Palais dance hall.
When first released as a single in United Kingdom in November 1982, "Come Dancing" failed to chart. Although Arista Records founder Clive Davis had reservations about releasing the single in the United States due to the English subject matter of dance halls, the track saw an American single release in April 1983. "Come Dancing" reached number six on the Hot 100, becoming the band's highest US charting single in over a decade and tying with "Tired of Waiting for You" as the band's highest charting single ever. This success was achieved largely with the help of a promotional music video directed by Julien Temple that saw frequent airing on MTV. As a result of its American success, the single was re-released in Britain. Unlike its first release, the single became a top 20 British hit, reaching number 12.
Written by The Goodies, with songs and music by Bill Oddie.
Plot
When the male members of the Penelope Fay Dancing Team are unable to take part in a Ballroom Dancing competition, the Goodies are asked to take their place and partner some girls in the competition. The girls introduce themselves as: "We are Norma. We are a hair artiste." The Goodies then introduce themselves as: "We are Cyril. We are a bank clerk."
There is a problem. None of the Goodies are able to dance. However, Graeme solves the problem by inventing some special dancing suits which dance by themselves by remote control. Everything goes well until Graeme confides to opposition dance mistress, Delia Capone, how the suits work — realising too late what he had done. Delia Capone takes over the remote control for the suits and everything goes haywire for the Goodies, but the Goodies and their partners win the dance trophy — much to the delight of Penelope Fay, and the anger of Delia Capone.

They put a parking lot on a piece of land When the supermarket used to stand. Before that they put up a bowling alley On the site that used to be the local palais. That's where the big bands used to come and play. My sister went there on a Saturday. Come dancing, All her boyfriends used to come and call. Why not come dancing, it's only natural? Another Saturday, another date. She would be ready but she's always make them wait. In the hallway, in anticipation, He didn't know the night would end up in frustration. He'd end up blowing all his wages for the week All for a cuddle and a peck on the cheek. Come dancing, That's how they did it when I was just a kid, And when they said come dancing, My sister always did. My sister should have come in at midnight, And my mum would always sit up and wait. It always ended up in a big row When my sister used to get home late. Out of my window I can see them in the moonlight, Two silhouettes saying goodnight by the garden gate. The day they knocked down the palais My sister stood and cried. The day they knocked down the palais Part of my childhood died, just died. Now I'm grown up and playing in a band, And there's a car park where the palais used to stand. My sister's married and she lives on an estate. Her daughters go out, now it's her turn to wait. She knows they get away with things she never could, But if I asked her I wonder if she would, Come dancing, Come on sister, have yourself a ball. Don't be afraid to come dancing, It's only natural. Come dancing, Just like the palais on a Saturday. And all her friends will come dancing
