The Lansdowne is unusual in three ways — it was established much later than most London clubs, it permitted some women from its inception, and its 1930s Art Deco architecture is quite distinctive from London's other clubs.
In 1930 Westminster City Council decided to improve access to Berkeley Square through creating an extra road into the square. This was accomplished by demolishing half of Lansdowne House, which had stood there since the 18th century. The remaining half was given a new frontage, and a newly renovated interior, and was founded as the Lansdowne Club. The 'First Drawing Room' was reinstated in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Dining Room in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
From the outset, it was founded as a 'social, residential and athletic Club for members of social standing' and their families, and unlike many London clubs it had no vocational, artistic, or political 'theme'. The Club's facilities include a ballroom, a terrace, a fencing salle and a basement gym including an Art Deco swimming pool. The club's internal architecture is extremely unusual and relatively modern for a London club, being almost entirely Art Deco, as opposed to the more usual Georgian/Victorian/Edwardian styles found in other clubs. The splendid Adam Room and other parts of the Club on the ground floor are Georgian though. The building underwent extensive renovation and further modernisation in 2000. It was granted Grade II* Listed Building status in 1970. The club includes a fencing salle, where the resident coach, Professor Wojciechowski, is also the official coach of the British Olympic squad.

Lansdowne Club Wedding Video
Ask any London wedding videographers and they will tell you that Lansdowne Club wedding video is always a pleasure to shoot. Rebecca and Harry chose the perfect venue for their London winter wedding. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. We’ll get back to all the reasons why we love shooting Lansdowne Club wedding photography in a minute. Let’s start at the beginning of Rebecca and Harry’s day.
The ceremony was held in the world-famous and aptly named St Bride’s church on Fleet Street. It’s iconic Fleet Street location and spire (thought to be the inspiration behind tiered wedding cakes!) not to mention its rich 2000-year history make it one of the most iconic churches in London. It’s iconic Fleet Street location and spire (thought to be the inspiration behind tiered wedding cakes!) not to mention its rich 2000-year history make it one of the most iconic churches in London. One of the things we love about shooting wedding photography at St Bride’s church is the light. Churches are often dark spaces but St Bride’s has an open feel with an abundance of natural light to play with (us London wedding photographers are total geeks when it comes to talking about light!)
Rebecca looked absolutely stunning in her bridal gown with a bespoke veil embroidered with an H & R and the date of their wedding day. Her dress sat elegantly off the shoulders and had a stunning cut and statement train that fitted so perfectly with the stately and grand feel of St Brides. Flowers on the day were perfect and were the clever creation of Rachel Morgan Flowers.
After the ceremony, everybody headed outside and there was a fantastic confetti moment before we quickly borrowed Rebecca and Harry for a few exterior shots of the pair of them around this iconic area of London. We then headed for the reception at The Lansdowne Club in Mayfair. Right, where do we begin? I think you’ve gathered by now that we simply love shooting wedding photography at The Lansdowne Club. This elegant Grade II listed 18th-century private club is the last word in hi-end luxury. Elegant and romantic it’s the perfect London wedding venue.
Rebecca and Harry had their wedding reception in The Lansdowne Club’s epic ballroom. With its 24-carat gold leaf vaulted ceilings and minstrel galleries at each end, it is a stunning room. The fact that it was all dressed for Christmas just made this perfect backdrop all the more perfect. There were some very well received speeches and after dinner when the evening celebrations started things really went up a gear. This lot were definitely up for a party and once we were confident we had told the story of their amazing wedding day with beautiful timeless images. We thought it only right to join them! A stylish and elegant winter wedding in the heart of London culminating in an epic party.
Congratulations you guys and thanks for having us there. We’ll leave the last words to Rebecca and Harry. Here’s what they had to say about us.
“There honestly are no words… The photos and film are INCREDIBLE!!!! We LOVE them so so much!”
We are a UK-based wedding studio, we work with couples on their wedding day to seamlessly document the day's events producing a collection of films which help relive all the best moments.
