The Labour Party was founded in 1936 by Maurice Cure based on the British Labour Party with the vision and determination to protect workers' rights and freedoms, including compensation, and a higher wage rate with paid leave. The movement was encouraged by 55 conferences held by the leaders of the party throughout the country. Among other goals were the initial resolutions to obtain suffrage for the working class, representation in the Legislative Council, the organization of a Department of Labour, the prohibition of capitalist exploitation of sugar plantations, as well as the overall implementation of socialist values among Mauritian government agencies.
Norway has a total area of 385,252 square kilometres (148,747sqmi) and a population of 5,109,059 people (2014). The country shares a long eastern border with Sweden (1,619 km or 1,006mi long). Norway is bordered by Finland and Russia to the north-east, and the Skagerrak Strait to the south, with Denmark on the other side. Norway has an extensive coastline, facing the North Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea.
The 58,000-square-foot (5,400m2) Norway Pavilion is designed to look like a Norwegian village. The village includes a detailed Stave church, and the exterior of its main table-service restaurant, Restaurant Akershus, resembles its namesake in Oslo. The exhibit showcases 4 styles of Norwegian architecture: Setesdal-style, Bergen-style, Oslo-style and Ålesund-style.
Much of the pavilion is taken up by interconnected shops. These shops are decorated with large wooden trolls and sell assorted Norwegian goods, including clothing, candy, and statuettes of Norse gods and trolls. The courtyard of the pavilion contains the entrance to Maelstrom, a boat ride into Norway's past and present. Kringla Bakeri og Kafé is a bakery, featuring assorted Norwegian pastries, such as cream horns and open-faced salmon sandwiches. The courtyard contains the entrance to Restaurant Akershus, featuring a hot and cold buffet and "Princess Storybook Dining."
"Norway" is a song by American dream pop band Beach House, from their third studio album, Teen Dream. The song was released on January 18, 2010, with "Baby" as its B-side. The song was released as a free download on the band's site on November 17, 2009, before its commercial release.

Reception
"Norway" received very positive reviews from contemporary music critics. The song was chosen upon release as Pitchfork Media's "Best New Track". Aaron Leitko stated that, "'Norway', the lead track from Teen Dream, the duo's Sub Pop debut, raises the temperature a few degrees. A percussive intro yields to an explosion of twinkling guitars and a chorus of woozy backing vocals. The core elements of Beach House's sound-- the drum machine, the thrift store keyboards-- are still present; they're just a few ticks faster. This makes a big difference. As it turns out, Beach House goes from dour to exuberant in just a few BPM." Leitko continues by saying, "Legrand, whose vocals have been saddled with Nico comparisons, can finally breathe a sigh of relief, too. The 1960s chanteuse's shadow is nowhere to be found here. 'You let us in the wooden house/ To share in all the wealth,' sings Legrand over a carsick slide guitar riff. No, 'Norway' is radiant with the sunshiny 70s pop vibes. It's Stevie Nicks territory, for sure. Climate change has come to Beach House, and the weather suits them beautifully."

Lithuania votes in General Election
http://www.euronews.com/ Lithuania's Social Democrat and Labour opposition parties are looking to consolidate first-round gains in today's parliamentary election second round.
Voters are having to struggle through a thick snowfall as winter arrives in the Baltic state, and the results will start coming this evening.
The ruling Conservatives and Prime Minister Kubilius are nursing first-round losses after four years of austerity policies they claim saved Lithuania from bankruptcy, and turned around 2009's near-15% economic contraction to this year's forecast 2.5% growth.

Lithuanians casting ballots in parliamentary elections rejected the current ruling coalition for the populist Labour Party.
Champagne corks popped at the Vilnius Crowne Plaza Hotel, where Labour supporters celebrated their victory.
With 80 percent of the votes counted from Sunday's election, the central electoral committee said Labour won 30.8 percent, while the two parties of the incumbent ruling coalition - the Social Democrats and New Union - together received 20.4 percent.
The conservative Fatherland Union received 13 percent, and 11.6 percent went to the Liberal Democratic party, created by Lithuanian ex-President Rolandas Paksas, who was impeached this year amid allegations of divulging state secrets to a controversial Russian financier.
The Peasants' Party and liberal Centre Union each won seven percent.
Turnout was a record low, with only 45 percent of registered voters casting ballots for the 602 candidates running for the 141-seat parliament.

Leaked UK Labour Party files expose party discord during Corbyn era

Al Jazeera has obtained a significant leak of documents from Britain's opposition Labour Party.
The files expose the inner workings of the organisation during one of its most turbulent eras, from 2014 to 2021.
The first batch of files appears to reveal how party officials undermined their newly-elected Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn.
Al Jazeera’s Phil Rees, from our Investigative Unit, reports from London.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
The Labour Party (Dutch: Partij van de Arbeid, [pɑrˈtɛi vɑn də ˈʔɑrbɛit], abbreviated as PvdA, [ˌpeːveːdeːˈjaː, -deːˈʔaː] or P van de A, [ˌpeː vɑn də ˈʔaː]) is a social democratic political party in the Netherlands.
The party was founded in 1946 as a merger of the Social Democratic Workers' Party, the Free-thinking Democratic League, and the Christian Democratic Union. Prime Ministers from the Labour Party have been Willem Drees (1948–1958), Joop den Uyl (1973–1977), and Wim Kok (1994–2002).
From 2012 to 2017, the PvdA formed the second largest parliamental faction and was the junior partner in the Second Rutte cabinet with the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy. Since 2016, Lodewijk Asscher has been Leader of the Labour Party. The party fell to only nine seats in the House of Representatives at the 2017 general election, making it only the seventh-largest faction in the chamber–its worst showing ever.
The Labour Party is a member of the European Party of European Socialists and the global Progressive Alliance. In the European Parliament, where the Labour Party has 3 seats, it is part of the parliamentary group Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.

http://www.euronews.com/ Lithuania's Social Democrat and Labour opposition parties are looking to consolidate first-round gains in today's parliamentary election second round.

STORYLINE:

SUMMARY
=======
