The Hidden Gem, or formally, St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, is located on Mulberry Street in Manchester, England. It was first dedicated at the site in 1794 with devotion to St Mary, Our Lady of the Assumption. In 1835, the roof collapsed, was restored and now The Hidden Gem remains the oldest Catholic Church in Manchester. (The second in the City Centre was St Augustine's in Granby Row, afterwards moved to Chorlton on Medlock.)
Reformation
In 1422, Henry V gave permission for a collegiate church dedicated to St Mary, the Virgin of Manchester. Papal confirmation was issued by Martin V in 1426. The church was dissolved during the reign of Edward VI, but was re-founded by Mary I. It subsequently passed out of papal control, and it is now the Manchester Cathedral of St Mary, St George and St Denys.
End of Penal Laws
The Penal Laws proscribed the celebration of the Latin Rite. They were finally abolished 1829 with the Catholic Emancipation Act. Catholic families had existed in Manchester throughout the period and had met secretly in order to conduct services. In 1774, a small chapel had been set up in Rook Street dedicated to St Chad. The chapel serviced about 600 people coming from as far away as Bolton, Glossop and Macclesfield. In the following years, with the advent of the Industrial Revolution, Catholic families from Ireland were attracted to the cotton industry in Manchester. The chapel remained in use until it was destroyed by fire in 1846. St Chad’s relocated to its own purpose built church in Cheetham Hill.
Kutaisi (Georgian:ქუთაისი; ancient names: Aea/Aia, Kotais, Kutatisi, Kutaïsi) is the legislative capital of Georgia, and its second largest city, after the capital Tbilisi. Situated 221 kilometres (137 miles) west of Tbilisi, it is the capital of the western region of Imereti.
Geography
Kutaisi is located along both banks of the Rioni River. The city lies at an elevation of 125–300 metres (410–984 feet)above sea level. To the east and northeast, Kutaisi is bounded by the Northern Imereti Foothills, to the north by the Samgurali Range, and to the west and the south by the Colchis Plain.
Landscape
Kutaisi is surrounded by deciduous forests to the northeast and the northwest. The low-lying outskirts of the city have a largely agricultural landscape. The city centre has many gardens its streets are lined with high, leafy trees. In the springtime, when the snow starts to melt in the nearby mountains, the storming Rioni River in the middle of the city is heard far beyond its banks.

#Kutaisi - The Hidden Gem of Georgia
On our first family trip, we headed to Kutaisi with WizzAir. Join us on this adventure and let us show you what this city had to offer.
#georgiatrip #georgiatravel #kutaisigeorgia
We had a chance to discover a city that we didn't even know existed and never heard of until WizzAir started fliying there.
The city had so much Georgian culture and was filled with beautiful spots. I strongly recommend going if you get the chance because if you love nature, you will love Kutaisi.

🇬🇪A couple of days in KUTAISI, GEORGIA - Travel Vlog 🇬🇪
Kutaisi, Georgia is the 3rd largest city in the country. It's a very old city, and can be easily reached from the airport.
The centre of the city is quite compact and so you only really need a couple of days here. There are lots of lovely cafes and restaurants to choose from and a nice little old town to walk around.
Because of its location, Kutaisi is a great place to base yourself to explore the Imereti region. You can visit caves, mountains, rivers, lakes. It's a beautiful area.
I recommend eating at Palaty or AURA cafe-bar, both places have great service and a nice choice of food. Make sure you take a trip on the cable car up to the park. A Soviet amusement park awaits you.
Don't overlook Kutaisi, it's definitely worth your time.

Back across the ocean A dark thought that lingers inside you You left a crack in the doorway What motivation propels you? If that seal is torn, our fate is certain Lay waste to all the Earth We disappear The one who ends all life becomes the hero Ring down the curtain No more illusions or lies Our vile nature for hiding Has opened up with the skies Lay waste to all the Earth We disappear The one who ends all life becomes the hero The ages are ending Gone is the passing of time Watch the angels descending Gone is the holy divide Lay waste to all the Earth We disappear The one who ends all life becomes the hero Lay waste to all the Earth We disappear
