Avril Phædra Douglas "Kim" CampbellPCCCOBCQC (born March 10, 1947) is a Canadian politician, diplomat, lawyer and writer who served as the 19thPrime Minister of Canada, from June 25, 1993, to November 4, 1993. Campbell was the first, and to date, only female prime minister of Canada, the first baby boomer to hold that office, and the only prime minister born in British Columbia.
Early life
Campbell was born in Port Alberni, British Columbia, the daughter of Phyllis "Lissa" Margaret (née Cook; 1923–2013) and George Thomas Campbell (1920–2002), a barrister. Her father was born in Montreal, to Scottish parents, from Glasgow. Her mother left the family when Campbell was 12, leaving Kim and her sister Alix to be raised by their father. As a teenager, Campbell permanently nicknamed herself Kim, perhaps for actress Kim Novak.
While in her pre-teens, Campbell was a host and reporter on the CBC children's program Junior Television Club.
Campbell and her family moved to Vancouver, where she attended Prince of Wales Secondary School and was a top student. She became the school's first female student president, and graduated in 1964.
Daughter of the mayor of San Jose (and former USAF Captain) Chuck Reed, Campbell joined the Civil Air Patrol as a cadet at age 13 and made her first solo flight in a civilian aircraft over San Jose at age 16.
The final ensemble, present during the final episode of Waterloo Road, first broadcast on 9 March 2015, was headlined by Melanie Hill, rounding out her fourth year as Maggie Bugden. Other cast members included Laurie Brett, as English teacher, Christine Mulgrew, and Neil Pearson as dynamic headmaster Vaughan Fitzgerald. It was Pearson who spoke the final, original line, "Cue the music!", but this was followed by the camera going to different points in the school with different quotes from the past being spoken above. The final quote made was by longest-serving cast member Phillip Martin Brown (who played Grantly Budgen), who said: "I turned up for a week's cover and ended up staying 25 years!".
"We have to define and put into practice a better, more coherent and effective policy on income security."
"Canada is the homeland of equality, justice and tolerance."
"I'd be prouder still to say I was Canada's 10th woman prime minister."
"Our Canada is an inclusive country, built by English - and French - speaking Canadians, together with our Aboriginal peoples, who were here first, and the millions who have come since from every corner of the world. And still they come-1 million people a year make inquiries about coming to Canada."
"Too often, governments have operated in a vacuum, believing they could come up with some magic formula to which they have an exclusive patent."
"I think the tribal council should make it the highest priority. That would mean the election results would be a true representation of what tribal members want. As it stands, the election process is tainted."
"An increasing number of Canadians must juggle the demands of work with the need to care for children, or for family members who are ill or too frail to care for themselves. Our programs have simply not kept pace with these societal changes."
"I believe that Canadians have the common sense to see that a better future cannot be built on fragmentation."
"For me, unemployment and poverty in the Greater Montreal area is not mainly a problem of structure, or design, or statistics. It is a profoundly human situation."
"We live in tough times, and Canadians have some tough questions for government. They want clear answers. They are well beyond the glib, glad-handing of the past."
"I have always believed governments must adapt to the needs of the people, not the other way around."
"I believe it is time for new leadership that is able to leave the '70s behind."

Ranking All 23 Prime Ministers: Kim Campbell
We have reached #17 of our 23 prime ministers, ranking them from worst to best.
Kim Campbell was not only Canada's first female prime minister, but she was our first female federal justice minister and defence minister, but also a junior reporter with CBC, the first Baby Boomer prime minister and first prime minister born in British Columbia.
Unfortunately, she was handed the reins to a crashing airplane by Brian Mulroney with little hope of saving the party.
