Lyrics:
It's late in the evening, she's wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair
And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight"
We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that's walking around with me
And then she asks me "Do you feel all right?"
And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight"
I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize how much I love you
It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light
I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight"

Lyrics:
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy
All around in my home town
They're trying to track me down
They say they want to bring me in guilty
For the killing of a deputy
For the life of a deputy
But I say
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
Sheriff John Brown always hated me
For what I don't know
Every time that I plant a seed
He said, "Kill it before it grows"
He said, "Kill it before it grows"
I say
I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self-defense
I shot the sheriff, and they say it is a capital offense
Freedom came my way one day
And I started out of town
All of a sudden I see sheriff John Brown
Aiming to shoot me down
So I, so I had to shoot him down
I say
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
Reflexes got the better of me
And what will be, will be
Every day the bucket goes to the well
But one day the bottom will drop out
Yes, one day the bottom will drop out
But I say
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy
I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no deputy

Lyrics:
If I could reach the stars
Pull one down for you
Shine it on my heart
So you could see the truth
That this love I have inside
Is everything it seems
But for now I find
It's only in my dreams
[Chorus]
And I can change the world
I will be the sunlight in your universe
You would think my love was really something good
Baby if I could change the world
If I could be king
Even for a day
I'd take you as my queen
I'd have it no other way
And our love would rule
In this kingdom we have made
'Til then I'd be a fool
Wishing for the day
And I can change the world
I would be the sunlight in your universe
You would think my love was really something good
Baby if I could change the world
Baby if I could change the world
I could change the world
I would be the sunlight in your universe
You would think my love was really something good
Baby if I could change the world
Baby if I could change the world
Baby if I could change the world

How to Modulate - Music Theory
Learn how to easily modulate using something known as a pivot chord. Do you struggle to modulate from one key to another? Then this is for you. Lots of people can write or improvise music but get stuck in one key. Changing key, or modulation as it is known, provides musical variety, progression, and development of ideas. In order to modulate in a conventional way, one needs to use a pivot chord ie a chord common to the key you’re leaving and to the key you’re joining. This music theory lesson explains how to do just that. Effective modulation will transform your improvisation and your composition.

How To Modulate Anywhere
Changing keys is a great way to add more sophistication to a piece of music, but it can be a tricky process. Sure, there's some easy targets, but what if you want to get weird with it? What if you want to go somewhere completely different, somewhere with absolutely nothing in common with your starting key? Most of our normal modulation tools fall apart when the scales get too far away from each other, but theorists don't give up quite so easily.

Hi and welcome to another episode of PianoTV!
Today we’re going to do something unusual for this channel, and turn our focus to pop music. We’re going to talk about key changes, also referred to as modulations in pop music, and why they’re so awesome (and sometimes so cheesy). We'll look at 12 amazing key changes in pop music, and talk details about how the composer pulled it off.
As a note, I use “pop” as a general term to encompass all modern-ish and popular music, whereas I use “classical” as a general term to denote older music from the beginning of the 20th Century ...

Songwriting Secrets: Modulating Between Keys Using the 2 5 1 Progression
In this video I'd like to show you a really cool trick for modulating between keys using the 2 5 1 harmonic progression. Modulation is the big music-theory word for "key change". This can add tremendous harmonic interest to your progressions and songwriting. It relies on the 2-5-1 progression, so if you are not familiar with that concept, you should probably first watch my instructional video on the topic:

The following lessons are HIGHLY recommended if you are confused by anything in this video.

Writing in Minor Keys: https://youtu.be/j-j4g0ktPGw
The Dominant Chord and Secondary Dominant Chords: https://youtu.be/py4HaueW50Q

Annoying Enharmonic footnote- In this video I refer to the keys of G# major and C# major which are theoretical keys. If I were to write this music out, I would certainly choose a key signature like Ab major and Db major, since double sharps (and B sharps) are a pain for me.
However, when referring to a key, the context is important- when we are transposing up from C a half step, we are literally sharping everything in the key of C, and it is helpful to think of that as C# Major. It is not, in my opinion, helpful to NOTATE it like that, which is why I included the key signatures of traditional keys and not the goofy ones with double sharps and what not. I’m only writing this because I know that by saying the words “G# Major” I’m going to receive an influx of comments saying that G# major is not a key, and if you decide to comment on me being wrong for that I'm going to call you pedantic and annoying :)

I had to film this video FIVE times before I could start editing it. It was a disaster, first two times the audio was wrecked due to an intermittent low frequency hum that mysteriously started and went away. Third video I forgot to record an entire section (my fault for not working off a script). Fourth time the video was totally out of focus. Finally the fifth time I got it. It was a lot of wasted time and effort and was basically a lot of failure. The only reason I was able to get it right and not rush it out the door is cause my AMAZING PATREON SUPPORTERS are patient enough to fund these lessons and I don’t have to rely on appeasing the youtube algorithm by posting every week whether my videos are in focus or not!
So a big thank you to them, especially the following folks:

This video has been reuploaded since I made a mistake in the first version- I accidentally thought Livin On A Prayer modulated up a half step (that's why it's in that section of the video). Stupid mistake, should have double checked! It's why the editing is a bit wonky there :P
Also this video has been copyright claimed by like 7 companies before it even went live, I find that simultaneously entertaining and disappointing.

This video is an introduction to modulations and key changes. We explore many examples of modulations you’ve probably heard before, some which are direct transpositions up from their original key, and others that are more complex.
Key changes can be as simple or as difficult as you want them to be. At their heart, they make things sound different, so it can be an effective trick for extending the usability of a section to prevent it being bland, or to brighten it up or darken it by lifting it up or down respectively.
The following lessons are HIGHLY recommended if you are confused by anything in this video.
Writing in Major Keys: https://youtu.be/M8eItITv8QA
Writing in Minor Keys: https://youtu.be/j-j4g0ktPGw
The Dominant Chord and Secondary Dominant Chords: https://youtu.be/py4HaueW50Q

As a note, I use “pop” as a general term to encompass all modern-ish and popular music, whereas I use “classical” as a general term to denote older music from the beginning of the 20th Century and earlier.

In this video I'd like to show you a really cool trick for modulating between keys using the 2 5 1 harmonic progression. Modulation is the big music-theory word for "key change". This can add tremendous harmonic interest to your progressions and songwriting. It relies on the 2-5-1 progression, so if you are not familiar with that concept, you should probably first watch my instructional video on the topic:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDHKeUSERuI (Part 1/4)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCmVhm8P02k (Part 2/4)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tpUHANMacE (Part 3/4)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dqvCftV22I (Part 4/4)
Modulating between two keys is a fundamental songwriting technique and any serious songwriter must familiarize him or herself with it. Professional songwriters use it all the time and, if done right, it is seamless and greatly boosts the harmonic richness of the composition. In fact, some songs modulate (i.e. change key) mid-verse and then change the key back again before the verse is over! That's right: modulating does not have to mean leaving the key you're in behind. Often, it is those quick modulations that only last a few bars that leave the greatest impression.
Watch this lesson and learn a great trick for harmonic modulation using one of the most famous progressions: the 2-5-1 progression. Examples included!
