Kevin Daniel Kelley (March 25, 1943 – April 6, 2002) was an American drummer, best known for his work with the rock bands The Byrds and the Rising Sons. Kelley also played drums for Fever Tree, although it is unknown whether he was an official member of the group or not. In addition, he worked as a session musician between 1969 and 1973, playing drums on albums by artists including John Fahey and Phil Ochs. He appears to have retired from the music industry after drumming on Michael Cohen's 1973 album, What Did You Expect? Kelley is the cousin of country rock pioneer and ex-member of The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers, Chris Hillman. Kevin Kelley should not be confused with the similarly named Kevin Kelly, another American session musician who played piano for Joan Baez during the Rolling Thunder Revue and guested on albums by Tim Buckley, Bryn Haworth, and The Babys during the 1970s.
Kevin Kelley (born Kevin Philip Kelley on June 29, 1967) is a timeshare salesman and former professional boxer and television commentator.
Amateur career
Kelley won two New York Golden Gloves Championships as well as the 1985 119Â lb Sub-Novice Championship and the 1986 119Â lb Open Championship. In 1988 Kelley advanced to the finals of the 125Â lb Open division and was to have met Fred Liberatore in the finals. Kelley was injured and could not fight. Liberatore was declared the Champion by Default-Injury.
In the Olympic box-offs he lost to Carl Daniels. His record was 62-5.
Professional career
WBC Featherweight Championship
Known as the "Flushing Flash", Kelley held the WBCFeatherweight title and defended it until he lost by TKO to,
MexicanAlejandro MartÃn González, after Kelley failed to come out for the 11th round due to both eyes swollen shut. Kelley won the title by defeating Gregorio Vargas by unanimous decision in 1993.
Kelley was then signed to an HBO contract, and remained in title contention for the next decade. More known for being in big fights rather than gaining big victories, Kelley's resume includes TKO losses to boxing legends Prince Naseem Hamed and Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales, both of which came during Kelley's career decline.
