Ken Loach: life in austerity Britain is 'consciously cruel'
For over fifty years Ken Loach has made films that rage against social injustice in the UK. His work has made us confront many of the issues we'd rather avoid. He retired in 2014, but made a return in response to the Conservative Victory last year - and now wants us all to take a hard look at austerity Britain. He's joined by Conservative MP Kwasi Kwarteng to debate what's happening within Britain's welfare system today.

It's an issue that's proving potentially as divisive as Brexit... superhero films.
They may have dominated the box office over the last 10 years but award winning directors are now lining up to criticise them.
Martin Scorsese calls them "theme parks", Francis Ford Coppola says they're "despicable" and now Ken Loach has told Sky News they're "boring" and "cynical".
He was speaking to Sky's entertainment correspondent Lucy Cotter.

The Rank and File | Full Film
The Wilkinson Glass factory in the midlands believe they are a caring employer - even providing a free bag of coal as a Christmas bonus - and have always had a good relationship with the local trade union. But their workers see things differently when faced by a management offensive and form a Rank and File Strike Committee. The committee expect harassment from management but surely their union leaders in London will stand by them. Won't they?
Jim Allen's script was inspired by the Pilkington Glass strike in St. Helens and closely follows the events of a strike that had taken place there in 1970. It was written at a time when the Labour governmant was proposing legislation to make unofficial strikes illegal and when trade union leaders were seen to be too close to the government.
