Kanda (plural makanda; before 1700 the singular was dikanda or likanda) in Kikongo is any social or analytical group, but often applied to lineages or groups of associated people who form a faction, band or other group. In Kongo documents written in Portuguese, or in older Portuguese accounts of Kongo it often is translated by "geração" (family or lineage in Portuguese). In older times, before about 1850, the term probably referred to elite lineages or descent groups (and their clients and slaves) who ruled the country. In modern Kikongo usage, for example in clan histories, or publications such as Nkutama a mvila za makanda (Tumba 1934, 4th edition, Matadi, 1972), it refers to a matrilineal descent group. In this literature, the kanda is often associated with a mvila or clan motto, which is in the form of a boast or other statement of identity, as well as a kinkulu, a history of the clan's migrations.
Ruling kandas of Kongo
Throughout its history the royal family has had branching factions that often fought each other over succession to the kingdom. Although these branches were probably called kanda, they were not strictly speaking descent groups, since they sometimes formed around two brothers. In the sixteenth century and later, the kingdom's kandas were referred to as houses, thus the Nlaza or Kinlaza kanda was also known as the House of Kinlaza.
A genetic lineage is a series of mutations which connect an ancestral genetic type (allele, haplotype, or haplogroup) to derivative type. In cases where the genetic tree is very bushy the order of mutations in the lineage is mostly known, examples are the order of mutations between E1b1b and E1b1b1a1a for the human Y-chromosome. In other instances the order of mutations may not be known, an example is the sequence of mutations between the L0/L1 split for human mitochondrial DNA and the basal L0 or L1 nodes.
A genetic lineage can be contrasted with an evolutionary lineage in that a genetic lineage applies to a locus. An example of the difference is that ancient African ape evolved into proto-gorilla and a chimpanzee-human ancestor, which further evolved into chimps and humans. While most human lineages coalesce with chimpanzee lineages, which then converge with gorilla lineages, a few human lineages coalesce with gorilla lineages and then converge with chimpanzee lineages (or chimpanzee lineages that coalesce with gorilla lineages and then converge with human lineages). This occurs because the speciation that marks evolutionary lineages occur as non-discrete events that are composed of 10s to 10000s of individuals in each developing taxa. This allows many variant lineages to be passed millions of years (See 2N-rule; 2 * 20 year/generations * 10,000 inds * ploidy) allows multiple deeply rooted lineages to be passed millions of years, over 2 or more speciation events. Such lineages may randomly undergo fixation at any time.
A lineage in Buddhism is a line of transmission of the Buddhist teaching that is "theoretically traced back to the Buddha himself." The acknowledgement of the transmission can be oral, or certified in documents. Several branches of Buddhism, including Zen and Tibetan Buddhism maintain records of their historical teachers. These records serve as a validation for the living exponents of the tradition.
The historical authenticity of Buddhist lineage is questionable. Stephen Batchelor has claimed, speaking about specifically Japanese Zen lineage, "the historicity of this “lineage” simply does not withstand critical scrutiny." Erik Storlie has noted that transmission "is simply false on historical grounds."Edward Conze said "much of the traditions about the early history of Ch’an are the inventions of a later age."
Vinaya
In the lineage of the vinaya, the requirements for ordination as a monk or a nun include the presence of at least five other monks, one of whom must be a fully ordained preceptor, and another an acharya (teacher). This lineage for ordaining nuns became extinct in many Buddhist countries. When Ani Tenzin Palmo wanted full ordination for example, she had to travel to Hong Kong to receive it.

Dalai Lama said that Buddha was an Indian, not Nepalese
http://www.nepalisite.com
His Holiness Dalai Lama told the crowd that Buddha was an Indian.
It is not clear what his intentions might be, but one should also think that he has been living in exile in India since 1959, and describes himself as a “Son of India”, thus can be loyal to India. It could also be for political reasons or to please the crowd. Yes one can argue that in ancient times there was no India as well so not only is he not Nepalese, but not also an Indian. No matter what the intentions could be, it is an sensitive topic specially for Nepalese.

In ancient times, this big Bharat..like that (speech not clear) so in anyway you see Buddha oh you see, Buddha an Indian, his teaching eventually whole/all Asia, you see his teaching reach whole Asia.
Firstly China, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Laos. Through China, then Korea, Japan and north..Tibet, Mongolia, and some republics in Russia. So that is Buddha not Tibetan, not Chinese but Indian.
So ancient times I think one great Indian master’s teaching reach whole Asia. Now Buddha Dharma..I never say you see Buddha Dharma is best. I never say. This religion is better that religion is better. We can not say.
