Rail traffic in Serbia - A Switchman, old signal box, track junction and chainways - Station Šebešić
Old signaling and safety railway station box device looks like the history, dating from a century ago, but it is still in use. There is one central in the station, operated by the train dispatcher (station master), and two more at the ends on both sides of the station, which are handled by the switchman. With a system of levers, chains, cables and safety connections, this device controlling track junctions and signals.
It is a system of electromechanical dependence, which controls certain operations and reduces the role of the human factor in controlling the movement of trains. It is still in use on some very old railway lines in Serbia. This video shows a lone switchman operating such a device and enables the movement of trains in his station. Many frames related to the movement of railr...

Many frames related to the movement of railroad crossing devices, track junctions and station home and track signals, shown through the movement of the old chains through the old chain lines and old underground ducts. These interesting chainways extend from signal box to track devices.
There is also a railway dog in the scene. He is always there to keep the railwaymen and to chase the wheels of passing trains. Kind of like the dog that loved trains.
The location of the video recording is Šebešić railway station. This is a very old and neglected railway station located on the Subotica - Sombor - Vinkovci railway line. Some freight trains pass that line on their alternative route between central and northern Serbia. This is an alternative route due to construction works at railway line between Novi Sad and Subotica (Central serbia to Hungarian border). Sometimes there are several freight trains throughout the day. It's mostly transit freight trains between Serbia and Hungary (between Southeast and Central Europe). The video shows five such trains and two passenger trains.
The idea and realization of the video were created thanks to the railwayman Brane Đurđić, which is also the main act in the film.
