The village of Johnson City is in the town of Union, New York, and is a part of the "Triple Cities" along with Endicott and Binghamton. Johnson City lies to the west of Binghamton on the eastern side of the town of Union.
History
Known as the "Home of the Square Deal", from the Square Deal given to all employees of Endicott Johnson Corporation, Johnson City was originally incorporated in 1892 as the village of Lestershire, In 1916, the village was renamed Johnson City in honor of George F. Johnson, who led the company that was by then known as Endicott Johnson.
2009 dissolution vote
In January 2007, a group of residents organized a petition supporting dissolution of the village for tax reasons. A vote was held on November 3, 2009. On November 12, 2009, the results came back "no" for dissolution by just 42 votes.
Johnson City is a city in Blanco County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,656 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Blanco County.
History
Johnson City was the hometown of President Lyndon Johnson and was founded by James Polk Johnson, nephew of Samuel Ealy Johnson, Sr. and uncle to President Johnson. James Polk Johnson donated a 320-acre (130ha) site on the Pedernales River for the founding of the town in 1879. The county seat of Blanco County was moved to Johnson City in 1890.

Italian architects reconstructing Palmyra's Triumphal Arch
A group of Italian architects are resurrecting parts of the war-ravaged ancient Syrian city of Palmyra by recreating the 2,000-year-old Triumphal Arch from the Temple of Bel - much of which was destroyed by the Islamic State (ISIL) over the past year.
