Ferlin Husky - Wings of a Dove (Grand Ole Opry)
He was born on December 3, 1925 on a farm that was located equally close to Flat River, Hickory Grove and Cantwell, Missouri, just about 75 miles from St. Louis. As a young boy he wanted to become a singer and make records, maybe even appearing on the Grand Ole Opry. There is a story that says he (or his father) traded a hen with a neighbor in exchange for a guitar. The deal was cancelled, however, when the hen failed to lay any eggs! Nevertheless, he did learn to play guitar, doing so locally at church functions and amateur competitions.
These dreams, however, had to wait until after he served his country in World War II. After serving five years in the Merchant Marines, Ferlin returned home in 1947 to Missouri where he went to work with Smiley Burnette on St. Louis radio station KXLW. ...

Eventually, he ended up in Salinas, California, performing with local performer/radio personality Big Jim DeNoone.
Ferlin Husky's first recordings were done for Bill McCall's Four Star Records. Under the name "Terry Preston," he recorded his first single, "Remembrance of Franklin D/Ozark Waltz". Eight more singles were to follow on this label. In 1951, he was added to the cast of Cliffie Stone's TV program "Hometown Jamboree," replacing Tennessee Ernie Ford. Stone was so impressed by Ferlin's talent that he brought him to Capitol Records in 1952. Five songs were released, including "Undesired" and "Gone". None of these songs were hits. Ferlin's father and his producer, Ken Nelson, did not like his choice of the name of "Terry Preston." They didn't feel that it was very masculine and that it was unfitting for a country music singer. Therefore, he returned to his given name, using the spelling "Huskey" until 1957.
Despite the change, he had no real success until 1953, when he teamed up with a young Bakersfield singer named Jean Shepard. Their first hit was "A Dear John Letter", which was about a soldier who was jilted by his girlfriend. Since the Korean War ended in the summer of that year, it was no surprise that their song was Number One in the country charts for six weeks and reached Number Four in the pop charts. The pair's follow-up, "Forgive Me John", also made it to the Top Ten, thus launching both of their careers. The next big hit for Husky was "I Feel Better All Over (More Than Anywhere Else)", which reached Number Six. The flip-side, "Little Tom", also made it into the Top Ten.
In order to compete with the success of Rock and Roll, Ken Nelson made the decision to re-record "Gone" with the Nashville Sound. He removed the steel guitar and the fiddle, replacing them with a modest rhythm section and the background voices of Millie Kirkham and the Jordanaires. The change was so extreme that even some disc jockeys refused to play the song. However, by 1957, "Gone" reached Number One on the country charts, and held that position for ten weeks. It also made it to Number Four on the pop charts, becoming a true "crossover" success. Some have even called it the first hit song with the Nashville Sound. The trend continued with the release of Jim Reeves "Four Walls" later the same year.
The next Number One hit for Ferlin was the Gospel song "Wings of a Dove". It stayed ten weeks at Number One in 1960. He had few minor hits in the early sixties, with "Once" reaching Number Four in 1967, and "Just For You" doing the same the following year. This was his last Top Ten record on the Capitol label.
In 1973, Ferlin left Capitol and signed with ABC Records. His only major hit with ABC was "Rosie Cries A Lot", which was in the Top 20 in 1973. He continued performing on the road well into the 1980's. His only down time was in 1977 when he had open heart surgery.
In 1984, Ferlin was signed by MCA who released a video of his called Truck Drivin' Son of a Gun." He then began to build the Wings of a Dove Museum in Hendersonville, Tennessee, which soon became part of Conway Twitty's Twitty City. In 1988, he gave up drinking and started singing inspirational music. ~From a Ferlin Husky Fan-Dedicated Website.

That year, Time named him in their list of 100 most influential people of the 20th century. In 2013 he received the FIFA Ballon d'Or Prix d'Honneur in recognition of his career and achievements as a global icon of football.
According to the IFFHS, Pelé is the most successful league goal-scorer in the world, scoring 1281 goals in 1363 games, which included unofficial friendlies and tour games. He was listed in the Guinness World Records for most career goals scored in football for this. During his playing days, Pelé was for a period the best-paid athlete in the world. In Brazil, he is hailed as a national hero for his accomplishments in football and for his outspoken support of policies that improve the social conditions of the poor. In 1961, Brazil President Jânio Quadros had Pelé declared a national treasure. During his career, he became known as "The Black Pearl" (A Pérola Negra), "The King of Football" (O Rei do Futebol), "The King Pelé" (O Rei Pelé) or simply "The King" (O Rei).
Pelé began playing for Santos at age 15 and the Brazil national football team at 16. During his international career, he won three FIFA World Cups: 1958, 1962 and 1970, being the only player ever to do so. Pelé is the all-time leading goalscorer for Brazil with 77 goals in 91 games. At club level he is also the record goalscorer for Santos, and led them to the 1962 and 1963 Copa Libertadores. Pelé's "electrifying play and penchant for spectacular goals" made him a star around the world, and his club team Santos toured internationally in order to take full advantage of his popularity. Since retiring in 1977, Pelé has been a worldwide ambassador for football and has made many acting and commercial ventures. In 2010, he was named the Honorary President of the New York Cosmos.

If These Moments Were Not Filmed, No One Would Believe It!
Good thing that we all have access to cameras these days! Otherwise, a lot of people wouldn’t believe a lot of things that happen around us. Whether it’s a gopro, a professional video camcorder or just your phone camera, now you have a lot of options to document your everyday life and have proof of any extraordinary things that might happen around you. Today we’ll be looking at “things that you wouldn’t believe if they hadn’t been filmed.” We’ll go through a lot of fun and exciting videos of things that you don’t get to see everyday, but that they definitely happened and there are videos to prove it. Once you’re done watching this video, you will want to go out and keep your camera ready to record any cool events that might come your way!
The Lucky Fisherman
When this guy finally caught something on his net, he started to pull it back up. At first, it all seems like a regular catch. He pulls out one fish. Then, another one comes out, and then...another one until finally, he has a net so full that he almost loses his balance. At the end, there were so many fish inside the net that he had a hard time pulling the whole thing back up. But it seems like things ended well for this guy as he came back to the shore and the crowd cheered for his extraordinary accomplishment.
Dog Fight
Dog fights are quite common, but the one right here is very funny. It all happened while the police were trying to negotiate with an armed robbery suspect when suddenly, a small pug in the neighborhood picked a fight with the police dog at the scene. The pug is certainly little, but it’s not afraid to come face to face with the fierce and well trained police dog. Finally, the pug exits the scene and you can even see that some members of the police force followed him to make sure that he didn’t come back to mess with their canine friend.
Naughty Monkey
Alright the next video might be slightly disturbing, but before you watch it, I just want you to know ...the kid on this video is alright! He just suffered a few scratches. But what happened is that a monkey snatched a toddler off his bench and dragged him away. The innocent child was just hanging out with other kids when out of the sudden, this naughty monkey jumped on the kid and grabbed him. I wouldn’t like being that kid! And I’m sure the poor boy will want to stay away from monkeys from now on. The monkey on this video is part of a street performance group, which is a very popular thing on the streets of Indonesia, which is where this video was taken. It sounds like the kind of monkey no one would want to mess with.
The Friendly Beluga Whale
There are naughty animals, but there are other ones who are friendly and very helpful, like the beluga whale on this video. There was a woman watching the beluga whale when suddenly, she dropped her phone. Now, in this kind of event, you wouldn’t expect an animal to respond to this kind of call for help. However, the beluga whale dove in and grabbed the woman’s phone to bring it back to surface and return it to its owner. See? Not all animals out there are naughty, there are some helpful ones too.
The Tank Crash
You don’t really see tanks on the streets everyday, unless there’s something pretty serious happening in your city. So, when you spot one, since they’re not an everyday sight, you’re likely to pull out your phone and record. Like the people behind this video in Minsk, who pulled out their phones to record this impressive tank moving along the streets of the Belarusian capital. And I’m glad they were recording, otherwise we wouldn’t believe what happened next! The tank skidded and crashed on a traffic light in an epic way. Was he going too fast? Maybe. Other tanks passed him by afterwards and none of them had the same unlucky fate as this one.
The Survivor
I hear a lot about near death experiences, but I rarely get to watch videos of the moments when these people actually came face to face with death - like this man in China who was standing in traffic when out of the sudden, a huge construction crane smashes his car. By looking at the video, you could easily think that the guy was not meant to survive - but he did! A few seconds after the incident, you can see him jump out of the car. He was scared, that’s for sure. But I’m glad he’s alive to tell the story.
The Pine that was Struck by Lightning
I really don’t get why the people behind this video set up the camera the way they did, but it seems like they knew that something epic was about to happen.
