In 1995, Messina was hired by Democratic U.S. Senator Max Baucus of Montana. They describe their relationship as father-son-like. In 1999, he became Chief of Staff to Democratic U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy of New York.
2000s
In 2002, he ran Baucus's 2002 re-election campaign. Messina "refused to let Baucus attend any debate that didn’t include a third-party candidate whose skin had turned blue from drinking an anti-infection solution, a distraction to help take attention away from the credible Republican candidate." Messina was purportedly responsible for creating an infamously homophobic television ad for Baucus.
James Messina was born in Maywood, California in 1947, and raised in Harlingen, Texas until he was eight. He spent much of his childhood split between his father's home in California and his mother's home in Texas. His father was a guitarist and greatly influenced his son's musical career. Messina began playing the guitar at the age of five. He later became interested in the music of Elvis Presley and Ricky Nelson.
Career
Jim Messina and His Jesters
When he was 16 years old, he recorded an LP with "His Jesters" titled The Dragsters, which was released in November 1964. One notable track was "The Jester", on which he played lead guitar; it was included on the 2003 CD Lost Legends of Surf Guitar Volume 1.
Messina (/məˈsiːnə/; Italian pronunciation:[mesˈsiːna], Sicilian: Missina; Latin:Messana, Greek:Μεσσήνη) is the capital of the Italian province of Messina. It is the 3rd largest city on the island of Sicily, and the 13th largest city in Italy, with a population of more than 252,000 inhabitants in the city proper and about 650,000 in the province. It is located near the northeast corner of Sicily, at the Strait of Messina, opposite Villa San Giovanni on the mainland, and has close ties with Reggio Calabria.
The city's main resources are its seaports (commercial and military shipyards), cruise tourism, commerce, and agriculture (wine production and cultivating lemons, oranges, mandarin oranges, and olives). The city has been a Roman CatholicArchdiocese and Archimandrite seat since 1548 and is home to a locally important international fair. The city has the University of Messina, founded in 1548 by Ignatius of Loyola.
Messina has a light rail system, Tranvia di Messina, that was opened on 3 April 2003. This line is 7.7 kilometres (4.8mi) and links the city's central railway station with the city centre and harbour.
Messina is a 2012 triple album by French singer-songwriter Damien Saez. Each CD was named separately with CD 1 named "Les Échoués", CD 2 "Sur les quais" and CD 3 "Messine". The full set was titled Messina (with an a). the set was released on 17 September 2012. on Wagram Records.
The triple album was not the first by Saez as he had released in 2008 the triple album titled Varsovie - L'Alhambra - Paris. Messina is the name of a Sicilian city of particular significance for Saez. And similar to the Varsovie - L'Alhambra - Paris album, this triple album carries many geographical references and to personalities.
On 29 August 2012, two titles from the album "Betty" and "Les fils d'Artaud" were made available for free downloading. On 16 September 2012, a third track "Messine" was offered free online. Two tracks, "Marie" and "Petite Couturière" were included on album despite being much older recordings.
"It's been great from the start, but I'm realizing that the music has just gotten tighter the more we play together,"
"I think that was very good for both of us, ... I think Kenny got to see how people reacted to us, and also he could hear, as could I, a sound that we hadn't heard in 30 years."
"I asked Kenny to sit in. Richie Furay, Rusty Young and Paul Cotton (from Poco) were there, too."
"I think it was just the right moment, ... Kenny was open to it and wanted to embrace old friendships. The door was open."
"That set it for me that it was possible to capture an audience,"
"I realized being together was a bigger thing than any of us alone. So that clinched it for me. That made me want to explore it further."
"[It would be] a miracle if it ever happens, ... But I believe in miracles. If Neil and Stephen don't wait too long, it could happen."
"I was concerned with him losing attendance, because of the conflict of me doing my show, ... So I told him I would lend my name to the benefit, so we could advertise it as 'Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sitting In.'"
"What was supposed to be two hours a night turned into four hours. The audience was so excited, so inspired and mesmerized. I thought: 'This is what it's all about. This is the true essence of what performance is supposed to be.' That's why I decided to do this tour,"
"Because Kenny mainly wrote folk songs, I was giving him some of my songs to see if we could get more of an edge, get more rock with it, and also rearranging some of his tunes to have different flavors other than folk stuff, ... So I had gotten a little more involved than I would have preferred to have, and also I realized that I couldn't just send him out to the world, that I should be there (too)."

Knowing what you know now what would you change? It's a question I ask every musician. It's a questions I ask everyone..not only musicians. Here we have a singer/songwriter, producer who was in three big outfits, Buffalo Springfield, Poco and Loggins and Messina – and a founding member of the latter two. He's done much. Interestingly in this clip he mentions the band Boones Farm. They were a country-blues rock band from the early 70's – Jim Messina produced them. Regrets? He's had a few.

Jim Messina formed Poco with fellow Buffalo Springfield bandmate Richie Furay and Rusty Young, who guested on the last Springfield album. The band was a clear answer to the growing influence of Country/Rock. I asked Jim Messina about how it started.
I had a chance to interview ex-Eagles bassist and vocalist Randy Meisner a few years ago. He was an original member of that band as well as Poco. He was only on their first album and he explains why here..then we'll hear from Jimmy Messina.

https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/9qk7AEY 8 – INTERVIEW – Jim Messina Does He Have Regrets
Jim Messina is doing shows this year right up to November.

"Danny's Song" written by Kenny Loggins, first appeared on Sittin' In, the debut album by singer-songwriters, Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina, released in 1971 on the Columbia Records. It was later released on CD on the Sony label. The song was a big hit for Anne Murray in 1972. The personnel on the original recording were: Kenny Loggins - vocals, guitar, harmonica, Jim Messina - vocals, bass guitar, Lester "Al" Garth - violin, recorder, saxophone, steel drum, background vocals, Michael Omartian - concertina, keyboards, steel drum, Jon Clarke - horn, oboe, saxophone, steel drum, Larry Sims - bass instrument, background vocals, Merel Bregante - drums, background vocals, and Milt Holland -- percussion. https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/9qk7AEY INTERVIEW #3: Jim Messina – How they Built The Band Poco

Messina Seeing you for the first time Was such a sweet dream I thought would never come true But then you know How things all seem to happen when they're due And kissing you for the first time Was such a warm change It's like I never felt so new But then you Know how things all seem to happen when they're due Life, it wouldn't be anything Without the gift of love you bring to me, oh And I just couldn't be satisfied Until the day that you and I We're so, so in love We were so in love Love on the inside And feeling you touching me Was like a fantasy come true But then you know How things all seem to happen when they're due Life, it wouldn't be anything Without the gift of love you bring to me, oh And I just couldn't be satisfied Until the day that you and I We're so, so in love We were so in love Love on the inside And feeling you touching me Was like a fantasy come true But then you know How things all seem to happen
