Challenging The Documentary Hypothesis
The documentary hypothesis is the view the five books of Moses (Pentateuch), were originally four separate sources of Israel's history. Alleged a redactor combined them into the present form of the Pentateuch, preserving most of the four sources. Proponents claim it is the best way to understand the history of the Pentateuch, but a lot of data challenges this assumption. I would like to thank the scholar Benjamin Kilchör for helping with the script for this video.

Who Wrote the Bible? The Documentary Hypothesis
Scholars have concluded Moses didn't write the Five Books of Moses. Who did?
The “Documentary Hypothesis” is the most widely accepted explanation of the Bible's authorship among modern scholars. Although Moses was traditionally considered the author of the first five books of the Hebrew Bible (Torah, or Pentateuch,) in this lecture we look at historical, archaeological, mythological, and literary evidence that suggests many different sources were compiled primarily during the Babylonian exile, many centuries after Moses would have lived, if he was a historical figure at all.

The Documentary Hypothesis is Not Settled in Stone
Despite being the consensus, there's a lot of intramural fighting between the academics who hold the Documentary Hypothesis. It is such a neat picture, except where it is not. Check this out!

The Documentary Hypothesis (JEDP) critiqued - 'Rethinking Genesis' by Duane Garrett
***DISCLAIMER: With all the talk about Moses in this video led to a classic gaffe on my part! NOAH took the animals on the ark...not MOSES! Haha, I could go back and edit out this mistake in an attempt to preserve my reputation. However, unlike MOSES, my words are NOT Inspired and I don't mind viewers seeing me make a simple mistake (especially since my videos are never scripted beforehand!). Thank you to viewers who caught my error! Just like in an actual Dojo, if your training partner--even the instructor!--makes a mistake, it is your job to capitalize on it so that they learn and grow!***
In this series we take a look at some classics that have perhaps flown under most people's radars...but shouldn't!

Why The Documentary Hypothesis Destroys Christian Apologetics - Dr. Kipp Davis
Dr. Kipp Davis says this,
“• Bad apologetics
· long noticed—Evangelical apologists make bad arguments about the specialness of the Bible.
· I taught at a Christian university. In the last couple years of my PhD I worked for an apologist who taught classes in “worldview,” and even in his senior seminar he was prepping students with bad arguments about God, the Bible, the historicity of the resurrection that I was regularly challenging.
· unless Evangelicals discover new ways to interpret and express their faith that aligns with historically responsible and intellectually honest approaches to the text, the movement will crash in the next generation.
* Inspiring Philosophy’s disingenuous portrayal of the DH

· covered in video 3.1, but it is typical. It is something inherited, and easily overlooked for anyone who is not a close reader (most Christians—most people—are not close readers). I grew up with an expectation of the reliability of scripture that also clearly conveyed an internally consistent message of Jesus—when introduced to the DH, my first reaction was incredulity—it’s conditioned.
· IP presents the most feeble possible understanding of the DH; usually constructed on the basis of the names assigned to the hypothetical sources, two of which are derived from the different names for God used by J/E. English translations render YHWH into “the Lord” which obfuscates."
