Innsbruck lies about half way between Munich (Germany) and Verona (Italy). Located in the broad valley between high mountains, the so-called North Chain in the Karwendel Alps (Hafelekarspitze, 2,334 metres or 7,657 feet) to the north, and the Patscherkofel (2,246m or 7,369ft) and Serles (2,718m or 8,917ft) to the south.
Earliest traces suggest initial inhabitation in the early Stone Age. Surviving pre-Roman place names show that the area has been populated continuously. In the 4th century the Romans established the army station Veldidena (the name survives in today's urban district Wilten) at Oenipons (Innsbruck), to protect the economically important commercial road from Verona-Brenner-Augsburg.
Austria (i/ˈɒstriə, ˈɔː-/;German:Österreich[ˈøːstɐˌʁaɪç]), officially the Republic of Austria (German:Republik Österreich, listen), is a federal republic and a landlocked country of over 8.66million people in Central Europe. It is bordered by the Czech Republic and Germany to the north, Hungary and Slovakia to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. The territory of Austria covers 83,879 square kilometres (32,386sqmi). Austria's terrain is highly mountainous, lying within the Alps; only 32% of the country is below 500 metres (1,640ft), and its highest point is 3,798 metres (12,461ft). The majority of the population speak local Bavarian dialects of German as their native language, and Austrian German in its standard form is the country's official language. Other local official languages are Hungarian, Burgenland Croatian, and Slovene.
Fucking (German pronunciation:[ˈfʊkɪŋ], rhymes with "booking") is an Austrianvillage in the municipality of Tarsdorf, in the Innviertel region of western Upper Austria. The village is 33 kilometres (21mi) north of Salzburg, 4 kilometres (2.5mi) east of the German border.
Despite having a population of only 104 in 2005, the village has become famous for its unusual place name in the English-speaking world. Its road signs are a popular visitor attraction, and they were often stolen by souvenir-hunting tourists until 2005, when the signs were modified to be theft-resistant.
Etymology
It is believed that the settlement was founded in the 6th century by Focko, a Bavarian nobleman. The existence of the village was documented for the first time in 1070, and historical records show that some twenty years later, the lord was Adalpertus de Fucingin. The spelling of the name has evolved over the years; it is first recorded in historical sources with the spelling as Vucchingen in 1070, Fukching in 1303,Fugkhing in 1532, and in the modern spelling Fucking in the 18th century, which is pronounced with the vowel oo as in book. The ending -ing is an old Germanic suffix indicating the people belonging to the root word to which it is attached, thus Fucking means "(place of) Focko's people."
After a cancelled British Government charter, she went into service with the Hamburg America Line on 1 May 1858 on the Hamburg-New York route.
Tragedy at sea
On 1 September 1858, SS Austria captained by F. A. Heydtmann sailed from Hamburg on her third voyage to New York City. At approximately 12:00, on 13 September, at coordinates 45°01′N41°30′W / 45.017°N 41.500°W / 45.017; -41.500, a decision was made to fumigatesteerage by dipping a red-hot chain into a bucket of tar; the chain became too hot for the boatswain to hold, and it was dropped onto the deck, which immediately burst into flames; although the ship was traveling at only half speed it was impossible to stop the engines as the engine crew had become asphyxiated. When the helmsman abandoned the wheel, the ship swung into the wind, spreading the flames down the length of the ship, racing through the mahogany veneer and varnished bulkheads, as passengers jumped into the sea. The passing barque, Maurice of France rescued most of the survivors, and the Catarina of Norway picked up more the next morning. As the blackened hulk was left to sink, all but 65 of 538 passengers were lost.
This is a list of craters on Mars. There are hundreds of thousands of impact crater on Mars, but only some of them have names. This list here only contains named Martian craters starting with the letter H – N (see also lists for A – G and O – Z).
Large Martian craters (greater than 60km in diameter) are named after famous scientists and science fiction authors; smaller ones (less than 60km in diameter) get their names from towns on Earth. Craters cannot be named for living people, and small crater names are not intended to be commemorative - that is, a small crater isn't actually named after a specific town on Earth, but rather its name comes at random from a pool of terrestrial place names, with some exceptions made for craters near landing sites. Latitude and longitude are given as planetographic coordinates with west longitude.
The 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games (German: Olympische Jugend-Winterspiele 2012), officially known as the I Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG), were an international multi-sport event for youths that took place in Innsbruck, on 13-22 January 2012. They were the inaugural Winter Youth Olympics, a major sports and cultural festival celebrated in the tradition of the Olympic Games. Approximately 1100 athletes from 70 countries competed. The decision for Innsbruck to host the Games was announced on 12 December 2008 after mail voting by 105 International Olympic Committee (IOC) members. Innsbruck is the first city to host three winter Olympic events, having previously hosted the 1964 Winter Olympics and the 1976 Winter Olympics.
Organization
Host city election
All four applicant cities were kept as candidate cities by the IOC in August 2008. Swedish skier Pernilla Wiberg was the Evaluation Chair for the Commission to score the applicant cities. In November 2008, two cities (Harbin and Lillehammer) were cut from the list, leaving both Kuopio and Innsbruck in the running. On 12 December, the final vote was revealed to be 84 votes to 15, with Innsbruck winning the hosting rights.
Innsbruck is the capital city of Tyrol and fifth-largest city in Austria.

In and Around : INNSBRUCK | Austria (Sony RX100)
Innsbruck, capital of Tirol alongside the surrounding villages is undeniably a great area located in the heart of the North Tyrolean Alps in Austria. The capital of alps is really an unique blend of alpine urban experiences – in a place where the mountains meet the valley and the city is one with nature.
Innsbruck was certainly one of the most picturesque and scenic place i have ever been to. This dream of a short getaway was 5 days long in early June 2016 alongside 3 of my best mates and I hope to visit Austria again in Future.

VIGNETTE
A Vignette is required to drive on Austria Autobahns/Schnellstrasse (with the exception of some special toll roads like the A13). If you hire yor car in Austria it will Automatically come with a Vignette. If you have hired from another country then you will have to buy one. The Vignette costs €8.30 for 10 days. You can buy it from any petrol station/rest stop. It is also possible to buy the Vignette at various rest stops/petrol stations in Germany and Switzerland and Italy at places close to the border Driving to Innsbruck
Please Note the Asfinag website has changed recently (for the worse IMO) and although there is an English option and /en on the first pages subsequent pages don't have the /en link. Sometimes the pages start in english or german. Simply have to go back to the start page and select English again.
Also the info on the special toll roads is not all available in english
You should note that the S16 between the A14 and A12 is also a specail toll road "sondermaut" with an extra toll of €9

HIRE CARS
You should note that some hire car companies have restrictions on taking vehicles into Italy. This tends to be more luxury vehicles. Includes often big Mercs and BMWs, 4x4s and cabrios but best to check with the company.
1. YOUR EXACT dates are highly important . If you want picturesque then you don't do any of those roads.
the Timmelsjoch/Passo Rombo high alpine pass opens..It is closed in winter because of snow.
They actually cut through the snow on 31st May/1st June so early June you can be driving through a wall of snow.
The pass rises to 2500m. You have to drive down the Oetztal to Soelden/Obergurgl and up over the pass to San Leonardo in Passiria. From San Leonardo you can then drive over the Passo Giovo to Sterzing/Vipiteno.
The Timmelsjoch/Passo Rombo is a toll road.
timmelsjoch.com/en/…description.aspx
You have to be confident of driving on mountain roads. Although they are tarmac'd and are proper roads there are lots of turns (some people do feel ill) and the large drop offs can worry some people.
BRENNER A13/B182
To be honest I find the A13 to be more picturesque. The Brenner pass B182 follows the A13 most of the way and for a lot of the distance is just located below the Autobahn. As the A13 is higher up the views are very good.
The views at the Europabruecke services are very good. Probably the best view from a McDonald you will get.
2. The problem with the B182 is that often people use this road to avoid the Europabruecke Toll ( €8). Often used by lorries, campervans, caravans as well as cars. This type of traffic can obviously be a lot slower. As such it is difficult to say how long it will take.
If I take the B182 (which is very rare and I have driven over the Brenner A13 40 times or more just going to Lazise on Lake Garda and numerous other times to Selva di Val Gardena) I only drive down from Brenner to Innsbruck.
Elbogen road - assume you mean Ellboegener Landstrasse. This is only a local road that runs partially parallel to the B182
YOUR EXACT dates are highly important. End of May there are a number of public holidays and you will also find kids school holidays. The Germans/Bavarians have school holidays end of May and they all head south to Lake Garda at this time. Austrians also have public holidays at the same time. The Brenner Autobahn A13 and the Brennerpass can be very busy on these days.
3. You don't buy the Toll ticket for the A13 at Innsbruck.
The A13 is a special Toll road. The Toll is a variable toll depending how far you go up the Autobahn A13. Going towards Italy If you get off at any of the exits after Innsbruck Sued the price changes. You pay at the Autobahn exit. If you stay on the A13 you will eventually come to the Main toll station which is across the Autobahn itself.
Scroll down the following link (sorry german only) until "A13 Sondermauttariffe Teilstrecken" and you will see the charges per "Teil" (part)

OTHER PLACES OF INTEREST
If the pass is open I would suggest Soelden, Timmelsjochpass, Vipiteno/Sterzing route.
A nice picturesque town to visit is Bressanone/Brixen. If Brunico/Bruneck is your end destination then Bressanone/Brixencan easily be done as a day trip

Discover Innsbruck with Indian YouTuber @dhruvrathee! Join Dhruv and his girlfriend Juli as they stroll around the city and go skiing in the Austrian alps. They visited the city in January. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the city is currently in lockdown, with museums, shops and restaurants closed. But outdoor sports venues remain open, with FFP2 masks mandatory in cable cars.
Please note: Dhruv was already in Austria — he didn’t enter the country as a tourist to go skiing.

Looking for a city and ski break? Look no further... Innsbruck is a bustling city with world-class skiing. It's surrounded from all corners by some of Austria's best ski areas, making it a unique spot for visiting skiers. Some are directly accessible from the town centre, whilst others are a short transfer away. Experienced skiers will get excited by the steepness of Nordkette and the heights of Axamer Lizum, whilst the less confident skiers can take advantage of the more mellow treelined slopes at Schlick 2000, Mutters and Igls, close to the city centre.
Join the Ski Club and Kevin Harris as they join the locals and discover what the Tirol has to offer.
