Coney Island is well known as the site of amusement parks and a seaside resort. The attractions reached a historical peak during the first half of the 20th century, declining in popularity after World War II and years of neglect. In recent years, the area has seen the opening of MCU Park stadium and has become home to the Brooklyn Cyclonesminor league baseball team, as well as the opening of a new amusement park among several adjacent ones.
Geography
Coney Island is the westernmost part of the barrier islands of Long Island, and is about 4 miles (6.4km) long and 0.5 miles (0.80km) wide. It was formerly an island that was separated from the main part of Brooklyn by Coney Island Creek, a partial tidal mudflats, but it has since been developed into a peninsula. There were plans early in the 20th century to dredge and straighten the creek as a ship canal, but they were abandoned, and the center of the creek was filled in completely to allow construction of the Belt Parkway before World War II, and it was filled in again in 1962 with the construction of the Verrazano–Narrows Bridge. The western and eastern ends of the island are now peninsulas.
The film is also known as: Coney Island in Sweden, L'île aux plaisirs in France, L'isola delle sirene in Italy, San oneiro in Greece, Se necesitan maridos in Spain and Tivolin kaunotar in Finland.
State Route 125 (SR 125) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of Virginia. Known as Kings Highway, the state highway has two sections that run a total of 5.73 miles (9.22km) from SR 10 and SR 32 at Chuckatuck east to SR 337 at Driver within the independent city of Suffolk. SR 125 consists of a 2.69-mile (4.33km) western section and a 3.04-mile (4.89km) eastern section separated by a gap at the Nansemond River. This gap arose when the Kings Highway Bridge across the river was removed in 2008.
Route description
SR 125 begins at an intersection with SR 10 and SR 32 (Godwin Boulevard) in the hamlet of Chuckatuck in the city of Suffolk. The state highway heads east as a two-lane road that passes historic St. John's Church then veers south to a dead end at Hollidays Point on the Nansemond River at the former site of the Kings Highway Bridge. SR 125 picks up again at a dead end due south of the western segment's dead end to the north of Nansemond National Wildlife Refuge. The highway veers east and passes through a forested area to the community of Driver, where the highway reaches its eastern terminus at SR 337 (Nansemond Parkway). Traveling between Chuckatuck and Driver requires crossing the Nansemond River near its mouth on U.S. Route 17 (US 17) on the Nansemond River Bridge or on one of several crossings of the river at its head of navigation in the center of Suffolk.
Kings Highway is a local station on the BMT Sea Beach Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Kings Highway and West Seventh Street, it is served by the N train at all times. It opened on June 22, 1915.
Station layout
This open-cut station has four tracks and two side platforms. The two center express tracks are not normally used, but both tracks are available for rerouted trains. The platforms are carved within the Earth's crust on an open cut. The concrete walls are painted beige and the columns are blue.
This station has two entrances, both of which are beige station houses at street-level between West Seventh and West Eighth Streets above the tracks. Each one has a single staircase leading to each platform at either extreme ends. The main exit at the north end has a turnstile bank and token booth and leads to Kings Highway while the exit at the south end leads to Highlawn Avenue and is un-staffed, containing just HEET turnstiles and exit-only turnstiles.
Coney Island is a 1991 documentary film that traces the history of Coney Island, the westernmost part of the barrier islands of Long Island, New York. The film covers the island's 1609 discovery by Henry Hudson, its 1870s incarnation as a respectable beach destination for city-dwellers and showcase of the new developments ushered in by the machine age, the early 20th century, when amusement parks and innovative attractions attracted hundreds of thousands of people each day, and the gradual demise of the amusements.
Coney Island began as a resort destination in the early 1830s and gained popularity in the 1860s as advances in transportation reduced the time it took to get there from other parts of New York City. As visitors increased, attractions were added, including a tall observation tower, the Coney Island Elephant hotel, early roller coasters, carousels, and arc lights to enable nighttime swimming.

Be aware that video restoration efforts are not always accurate. Colorization of video/film is complex. Artificial Intelligence Tools (AI) or computer software is only as good as the algorithms designed to understand the colors. Colorization is ambiguous since we are trying to go from grayscale to a 3-D signal created around mixtures of red, green and blue. So while it may not be perfectly and historically accurate, it has come a long way over the years. So try and enjoy the efforts to colorize the past as best as we can.

Two fairground showmen vie for the affections of a lovely songstress! Starring, Betty Grable, George Montgomery, Cesar Romero, Phil Silvers, Charles Winninger with Paul Hurst, Frank Orth
Set at the turn of the century, smooth talking con man Eddie Johnson weasels his way into a job at friend and rival Joe Rocco's Coney Island night spot. Eddie meets the club's star attraction (and Joe's love interest), Kate Farley, a brash singer with a penchant for flashy clothes. Eddie and Kate argue as he tries to soften her image. Eventually, Kate becomes the toast of Coney Island and the two fall in love. Joe then tries to sabotage their marriage plans.
