Grable began her film career in 1929 at age 12, after which she was fired from a contract when it was learned she signed up under false identification. She had contracts with RKO and Paramount Pictures during the 1930s, and appeared in a string of B movies, mostly portraying co-eds. Grable came to prominence in the Broadway musical DuBarry Was a Lady (1939), which brought her to the attention of 20th Century-Fox. She replaced Alice Faye in Down Argentine Way (1940), her first major Hollywood film, and became Fox's biggest film star throughout the remaining decade. Fox cast Grable in a succession of Technicolormusicals during the decade that were immensely popular, co-starring with such leading men as Victor Mature, Don Ameche, John Payne, and Tyrone Power. In 1943, she was the number-one box-office draw in the world and, in 1947, she was the highest-paid entertainer in the United States. Two of her biggest film successes were the musical Mother Wore Tights (1947) and the comedy How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), one of her last films. Grable retired from screen acting in 1955 after she withdrew from her Fox contract, although she continued to perform on the stage and on television.
Coney Island is well known as the site of amusement parks and a seaside resort. The attractions reached a historical peak during the first half of the 20th century, declining in popularity after World War II and years of neglect. In recent years, the area has seen the opening of MCU Park stadium and has become home to the Brooklyn Cyclonesminor league baseball team, as well as the opening of a new amusement park among several adjacent ones.
Geography
Coney Island is the westernmost part of the barrier islands of Long Island, and is about 4 miles (6.4km) long and 0.5 miles (0.80km) wide. It was formerly an island that was separated from the main part of Brooklyn by Coney Island Creek, a partial tidal mudflats, but it has since been developed into a peninsula. There were plans early in the 20th century to dredge and straighten the creek as a ship canal, but they were abandoned, and the center of the creek was filled in completely to allow construction of the Belt Parkway before World War II, and it was filled in again in 1962 with the construction of the Verrazano–Narrows Bridge. The western and eastern ends of the island are now peninsulas.
The film is also known as: Coney Island in Sweden, L'île aux plaisirs in France, L'isola delle sirene in Italy, San oneiro in Greece, Se necesitan maridos in Spain and Tivolin kaunotar in Finland.

Betty Grable had been pushed into performing by her mother and started performing as a chorus girl at the age of just 13 due to her mother lying about her age. Betty would go on to be signed by RKO Pictures, but wouldn’t find much success with the studio after being given her contract.
In 1937, Betty married former child star, Jackie Coogan. When they were together, they starred in the comedic picture Million Dollars Legs. Less than a decade later, 20th Century Fox would literally ensure Betty’s legs for a million dollars. However, Betty still had a few years to go before she attained this kind of celebrity status. Betty’s breakout turn came in the 1940 feature Down Argentine Way, after having been in the entertainment industry for more than a decade.
Betty entered into World War II one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and she would become an even bigger name after becoming a military-endorsed pin-up girl whose picture was passed around by American soldiers. It has been estimated that five million pin-ups were circulated featuring Betty, and she came out of the war the highest-paid movie star in America. At the height of her fame, Betty was being paid around $300,000 a year. When adjusted for inflation, this still remains a fairly exuberant sum to this day.
While many other stars that delved into pin-up work around the same time as Betty went on to regret it, she never did. According to Betty’s daughter, her mother was always proud of the fact that her pin-up helped motivate American soldiers to win the war. Join Facts Verse as Betty Grable’s daughter shares new details on pin-up career.

Artificial Intelligence Tools (AI) or computer software is only as good as the algorithms designed to understand the colors. Colorization is ambiguous since we are trying to go from grayscale to a 3-D signal created around mixtures of red, green and blue. So while it may not be perfectly and historically accurate, it has come a long way over the years. So try and enjoy the efforts to colorize the past as best as we can.

But behind the glamour and success, Betty's life was marked by tragedy and heartbreak, leading to a sad and untimely end. In this video, we will explore the fascinating and tumultuous life of Betty Grable and examine the factors that contributed to her eventual downfall.
Did you know that Betty Grable responded to every fan letter sent to her by soldiers during World War II, or did you think that her support of the troops was relegated to just her iconic pin-up?
Betty Grable's Daughter Shares New Details on Pin-Up Career

Besides being rich in history, Coney Island Park houses a wide variety of habitats, including coastal forests, grasslands, mangroves, and casuarina woodlands. It is home to a wide variety of fauna and flora, some of which are critically endangered. Some plants at the park are presumed nationally extinct in the wild.
How to get there:
From Punggol interchange, take bus 84 to Punggol Point Park/Punggol Settlement.
Walk for about 500m east along the Punggol Promenade Nature Walk to get to Coney Island Park West Entrance.
