Coney Island is well known as the site of amusement parks and a seaside resort. The attractions reached a historical peak during the first half of the 20th century, declining in popularity after World War II and years of neglect. In recent years, the area has seen the opening of MCU Park stadium and has become home to the Brooklyn Cyclonesminor league baseball team, as well as the opening of a new amusement park among several adjacent ones.
Geography
Coney Island is the westernmost part of the barrier islands of Long Island, and is about 4 miles (6.4km) long and 0.5 miles (0.80km) wide. It was formerly an island that was separated from the main part of Brooklyn by Coney Island Creek, a partial tidal mudflats, but it has since been developed into a peninsula. There were plans early in the 20th century to dredge and straighten the creek as a ship canal, but they were abandoned, and the center of the creek was filled in completely to allow construction of the Belt Parkway before World War II, and it was filled in again in 1962 with the construction of the Verrazano–Narrows Bridge. The western and eastern ends of the island are now peninsulas.
The film is also known as: Coney Island in Sweden, L'île aux plaisirs in France, L'isola delle sirene in Italy, San oneiro in Greece, Se necesitan maridos in Spain and Tivolin kaunotar in Finland.
The Strange is set in modern day Earth but allows a GM to take their stories through many different "recursions", worlds based frequently on literary creations.
Character Creation
Character creation has been simplified by having players fill in the blanks to the statement:
The first blank, the adjective in the sentence, is filled in by a character's "Descriptor", a way to describe the character's strongest characteristic.
The second blank, the noun of the sentence, is filled in by a character's "Type", which is either a "Vector", a "Paradox", or a "Spinner".
The third blank, the verb of the sentence, is filled in by a character's "Focus", or what the character is most known for or their special talent.
Game Mechanics
The Strange uses the Cypher System, developed for Numenera and is played primarily using a d20, but is used to determine if the player has beaten the difficulty of the task. The GM sets the initial difficulty and will relay that to the player prior to the roll to help them determine their course of action. A player uses their training and/or may apply "effort" to lower the level of difficulty prior to the roll, rather than heavily augmenting the result of the roll to beat a target.
Coney Island is a 1991 documentary film that traces the history of Coney Island, the westernmost part of the barrier islands of Long Island, New York. The film covers the island's 1609 discovery by Henry Hudson, its 1870s incarnation as a respectable beach destination for city-dwellers and showcase of the new developments ushered in by the machine age, the early 20th century, when amusement parks and innovative attractions attracted hundreds of thousands of people each day, and the gradual demise of the amusements.
Coney Island began as a resort destination in the early 1830s and gained popularity in the 1860s as advances in transportation reduced the time it took to get there from other parts of New York City. As visitors increased, attractions were added, including a tall observation tower, the Coney Island Elephant hotel, early roller coasters, carousels, and arc lights to enable nighttime swimming.
Coney Island's beginnings date back to 1867 when an apple farmer by the name of James Parker purchased 400 acres (1.6km2) of land along the shores of the Ohio River. James soon realized in the early 1870s the popularity of the farm's location, and that renting it out was more profitable than his apple orchard. He eventually added a dining hall, dancing hall, and bowling alley. He later sold the land in 1886 for $17,500 to a company called Ohio Grove Corporation headed by two steamboat captains. In time for the opening on June 21, 1886, the name was officially changed to "Ohio Grove, The Coney Island of the West" in an effort to link the park with the famous New York destination. Fortunate enough to be on a riverfront location, riverboat soon became the most popular method of transportation for park visitors. In 1887, "Ohio Grove" was completely dropped from the name as the park became known simply as "Coney Island".

uptown girls feels in coney island by taylor swift ft. the national
Ever get a song stuck in your head that just screams a specific movie? That's Coney Island by @TaylorSwift ft. The National and Uptown Girl for me! This movie (Uptown Girl) is my long-time favorite, and I rewatch it over and over…..
There's something about Coney Island that feels inspired by the movie's message. Both the song and the movie give me major "healing your inner child" vibes.
Uptown Girl explores how toxic it is for a kid to be "mature for their age" or "well-adjusted. This totally resonates with ZOLITA's new song "Grow Up," which dives even deeper with amazing lyrics and vocals!
Here's why Coney Island hits me:

"If I can't relate to you anymore / Then who am I related to?"
"Sorry for not making you my centerfold"
These lyrics speak to me about losing yourself in a relationship. Afterward, you feel hollow and realize you haven't prioritized yourself. It's like an apology to your own inner child.
The beauty of art is interpretation! Everyone takes something different away, and I think that's what makes it powerful. This song (and movie) is a reminder that healing can be messy – your inner child craves love, your teenage self wants revenge, and your adult self just wants peace.
P.S. I just realized Joe Alwyn, Aaron and Bryce Dessner co-wrote this song with Taylor Swift. Now I'm curious if they watched Uptown Girl together!

One summer can change everything, and in Hawkins, Indiana, the summer of 1985 is seen as a defining summer for a group of teenagers in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things.
The third installment of the series, Stranger Things 3, was released on Netflix on July 4, and Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park in Coney Island took the theme to heart when transforming several rides and aspects of the park for a Stranger Things takeover event during the holiday weekend.
The re-branding of the park from June 28 to July 7 featured large posters and signage throughout, Stranger Things gifts and tricked out rides such as the Bumper Cars, Tilt-a-Whirl and the iconic Wonder Wheel boasting in-show elements and photo opportunities.
With a gap of over 19 months between the releases of seasons two and three, the newest set of episodes have been long anticipated by fans of all ages. Stranger Things 3 contains eight episodes that feature many of the vital characters from the past two seasons, as well as a few new faces that play a large role in the kids’ summer.
With just eight episodes in the third season, some fans have already binged the entire season.
