Hyperspace is a method of traveling sometimes used in science fiction. It is typically described as an alternative region of space co-existing with our own universe which may be entered using an energy field or other device. Travel in hyperspace is typically depicted as faster-than-light travel in normal space. As seen in most fiction hyperspace is most succinctly described as a "somewhere else" within which the laws of general and special relativity decidedly do not apply—especially with respect to the speed of light being the cosmic speed limit. Entering and exiting said "elsewhere" thus directly enables travel near or faster than the speed of light—almost universally with the aid of extremely advanced technology.
Astronomical distances and the impossibility of faster-than-light travel pose a challenge to most science-fiction authors. They can be dealt with in several ways: accept them as such (hibernation, slow boats, generation ships, time dilation - the crew will perceive the distance as much shorter and thus flight time will be short from their perspective), find a way to move faster than light (warp drive), "fold" space to achieve instantaneous translation (e.g. the Dune universe's Holtzman effect), access some sort of shortcut (wormholes), utilize a closed timelike curve (e.g. Stross' Singularity Sky), or sidestep the problem in an alternate space: hyperspace.
Recursive science fiction is a subgenre of science fiction, which itself takes the form of an exploration of science fiction within the narrative of the story.
Analysis
In the book Resnick at Large, authors Mike Resnick and Robert J. Sawyer describe recursive science fiction as, "science fiction about science fiction". In the work, The Greenwood Encyclopedia of Science Fiction and Fantasy: Themes, Works, and Wonders, Gary Westfahl comments, "Recursive fantasy fiction – that is, a fantasy about writing fantasy – is scarce;" one potential example of recursive fantasy, however, would be Patrick Rothfuss' The Kingkiller Chronicle.
The Super Famicom Naizou TV SF1(スーパーファミコン内蔵テレビSF1,Supa Famikon Naizou Terebi SF1) (often described as the SF1 SNES TV) is a television set produced by Sharp Corporation with a built-in licensed Super Famicom. Released only to Japanese markets, the unit retailed in 1990 as a next generation successor to the 1983 C1 television also produced by Sharp and licensed by Nintendo. Like the C1, the SF1 was noted as having superior picture quality to a SFC plugged into a standard television.
Overview
The SF1 came in two different models varying in screen sizes. The larger SF1 unit featured a 21-inch screen and the smaller featured a 14-inch screen. Both units were colored gray, and both included a ROM-cartridge plugin-slot just above the screen. By merging the SFC and the television into one unit, the SF1 avoided the problem of exposed power cords and other cables. This gave the unit the advantage of being easier to handle. With internally connected SFC-SF1 terminals, luminance and chrominance signals could be separated, and the resulting image quality was notably sharper than standard setups. This advantage diminished to a degree in the 14-inch model where picture quality was reduced.
Science Fiction is a the fifth studio album by Jonathan Thulin. Dream Records released the album on 17 March 2015. Jonathan Thulin worked with his brother, David Thulin, in the production of this album.
Critical reception
Specifying in a four star review by CCM Magazine, Matt Conner recognizes, "Science Fiction has the potential to give the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter widespread attention." Marcus Hathcock, indicating in a five star review for New Release Tuesday, realizes, "Incredible pop songs throughout, Science Fiction presents a level of quality, artistry and accessibility that stands up to the heavy hitting pop acts of today, all the while staying true to the honesty of a Christian walk in progress." Signaling in an eight out of ten review from Cross Rhythms, Andy Shaw replies, "There are plenty of infectious hooks to get stuck in your head and they may well stay there for a while."
Christopher Smith, assigning the album four stars at Jesus Freak Hideout, reports, "With no skippable songs and a handful of standouts, Science Fiction is a fun and well-rounded album." Mentioning in a three star review by Jesus Freak Hideout, David Craft declares, "Science Fiction is a strong project, but the sincerity that once permeated Thulin's music seems to be missing... Science Fiction is a good album, but I had hoped for a more cohesive and thought-out project." Jono Davies, pegging the album as a four star release at Louder Than the Music, depicts, " Jonathan Thulin is a master at what he does and to hear his latest songs as a collection like this is a real treat."
Fiction is a term used to classify any story created by the imagination, rather than based strictly on history or fact. Though the magazine ostensibly focuses on publishing fiction, as its name implies, it has recently also featured excerpts from Robert Musil's diaries and letters, as well as various writings with an autobiographical slant.
Fiction, often stylized as fiction (Chinese: 大/小說家) is TaiwaneseMandopop artist Yoga Lin's fourth Mandarin studio album. It was released on 22 June 2012 by HIM International Music. It was ranked no. 1 in Taipei Times's list of top five Mandarin albums of 2012. Yoga Lin co-produced most songs on the album, and participated in the writing of the lyrics and mixing of the songs.
Background
The concept of the album was to use music to tell a story, and each song on the album functions as a short story. The whole album becomes a ten song collection of short stories in a multitude of genres as science fiction, romance, horror, allegory, and so on. Songs like "说谎 (Fairytale)", "心酸 (Heartbreak)" and "早开的晚霞 (Early Sunset Clouds)" from earlier albums made him famous, which all conveys Yoga Lin's characteristic melancholic sound. Yoga Lin and his producers agreed that for the fourth album they wanted to try something different to record a more powerful performance, as well as showcase his talents in various styles of music.
If we stay within the laws of physics, things like hyperspace, warp drive, Erhaft generators and other science fiction staples are off the board and we're stuck with not many options that don't rely on technologies that simply don't exist.
