Why Was Hungary Punished So Severely After World War One? (Short Animated Documentary)
The Kingdom of Hungary (part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire) lost about 70% of its land and 65% of its population after its defeat in World War One. Making it perhaps the greatest loser of the war, despite most of the blame being placed firmly in Germany's lap. But why? Why was Hungary punished so harshly? To find out watch this short and simple animated history documentary.

[Hungary] The Hungarian Soviet Republic (1919) - When Hungary Became Communist First
The Hungarian Soviet Republic was a short-lived state. Did you know that there was a short-lived communist Hungarian state in 1919? It was lead by revolutionary Béla Kun and named the Hungarian Soviet Republic. How did it came into existance and why it went down, I will talk about in this video recorded at Memento Park near Budapest.

Why Was Hungary Partitioned After WWI? | The Treaty of Trianon
Why was the ancient Kingdom of Hungary partitioned after World War One? In theory, it was to set free the many different nationalities (be they Romanians, Serbians, Slovaks, or a number of others) living under Hungarian rule, and in practice that was certainly achieved. But the Treaty of Trianon, in which the borders for Hungary and its new neighbours were demarcated, also left millions of Hungarians outside of the new Hungary.

The Hungarian Republic (1919 – 1920) – The White Terror in Hungary and the Rise of Miklós Horthy
Interested in Hungarian history? The Hungarian Republic (Magyar Köztársaság) was a short-lived state that succeeded the Hungarian Soviet Republic. That communist state was taken down during the Hungarian-Romanian War by the Romanian Army and the Hungarian National Army led by Admiral Miklós Horthy. When that happened the First Hungarian Republic (Első Magyar Köztársaság) was re-established but soon taken down. The Hungarian Republic had a militantly anti-communist authoritarian government who carried out the White Terror as revenge for the Red Terror carried out by the Hungarian communists. After the Treaty of Trianon was signed also this short-lived republic went down to make way for the Kingdom of Hungary. Learn more about the history of Hungary.

The End of Austria-Hungary: Treaty of Saint-Germain 1919
The Treaty of Versailles between the Allies and Germany was only one of the peace treaties that followed the defeat of the Central Powers. The new Austrian republic, one of the countries that emerged from the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, also tried to get a favorable deal with the Allies in Paris in 1919. Like Versailles, the Treaty of Saint-Germain caused an outcry across the country.

What if the Hungarian Soviet Republic of 1919 Survived?
The Hungarian Soviet Republic existed for 133 days in 1919, but got invaded by all their neighbors, with a kingdom being established in the nation. Sadly, when Hungary got defeated, the flag also changed from one of the most creative designs, to the Hungarian Tricolor. After Hungary’s attempt at communism, they became communist once again in 30 years later, after the Second World War ended.
What would change if Hungary managed to remain communist in 1919, how would that change the Second World War, let’s find out?

Like many European countries, Hungary experiences rapid political changes in the aftermath of the 1918 armistices. The Kingdom of Hungary used to rule big parts of South Eastern Europe and many peoples within its former boundaries are now gaining independence and expand their territory. The new Hungarian Republic is faced by external and internal pressures and after a coup becomes the Hungarian Soviet Republic, the 2nd Soviet State in Europe.

The Hungarian Soviet Republic was a short-lived state. Did you know that there was a short-lived communist Hungarian state in 1919? It was lead by revolutionary Béla Kun and named the Hungarian Soviet Republic. How did it came into existance and why it went down, I will talk about in this video recorded at Memento Park near Budapest.
