A mortar is a device that fires projectiles at low velocities and short ranges. The mortar has traditionally been used as a weapon to propel explosive mortar bombs in high-arcing ballistic trajectories. The weapon is typically muzzle-loading with a short, often smooth-bore barrel, generally less than 15 times its caliber. Mortar bombs are often referred to, incorrectly, as "mortars".
Mortars have been used for hundreds of years, originally in siege warfare. Many historians consider the first mortars to have been used at the 1453 siege of Constantinople by Fatih Sultan Mehmed. A European account of the 1456 siege of Belgrade by Giovanni da Tagliacozzo said that the Ottoman Turks used seven mortars that fired "stone shots one Italian mile high". The time of flight of these was apparently long enough that casualties could be avoided by posting observers to give warning of their trajectories.
Bengali cuisine is a culinary style originating in Bengal, a region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, which is now divided between Bangladesh and West Bengal. Other regions, such as Tripura, and the Barak Valley region of Assam (in India) also have large native Bengali populations and share this cuisine. With an emphasis on fish, vegetables and lentils are served with rice as a staple diet. Bengali cuisine is known for its subtle (yet sometimes fiery) flavours, and its spread of confectioneries and desserts. It also has the only traditionally developed multi-course tradition from the Indian subcontinent that is analogous in structure to the modern service à la russe style of French cuisine, with food served course-wise rather than all at once.
Historical influences
Bengali food has inherited a large number of influences, arising from a historical and strong trade links with many parts of the world. Bengal fell under the sway of various Turkic rulers from the early thirteenth century onwards, and was then governed by the British for two centuries (1757–1947). The Jews brought bakeries to Bengal, the Marwaris contributed their sweet-making skills, the exiled families of Wajid Ali Shah and Tipu Sultan brought different flavours of Mughlai cuisine. British patronage and the Babu Renaissance fueled the development of these different culinary strands into a distinct heritage. From the culinary point of view, some major historical trends influenced Bengali food.
Use, as a term in real property of common law countries, amounts to a recognition of the duty of a person, to whom property has been conveyed for certain purposes, to carry out those purposes.
Uses were equitable or beneficial interests in land. In early law a man could not dispose of his estate by will nor could religious houses acquire it. As a method of evading the common law, the practice arose of making feoffments to the use of, or upon trust for, persons other than those to whom the seisin or legal possession was delivered, to which the equitable jurisdiction of the chancellor gave effect. To remedy the abuses which it was said were occasioned by this evasion of the law the Statute of Uses of 1536 was passed. However it failed to accomplish its purpose. Out of this failure of the Statute of Uses arose the modern law of trusts (see that article for further details).
Development of the use
One reason for the creation of uses was a desire to avoid the strictness of the rules of the common law, which considered seisin to be all-important and therefore refused to allow a legal interest to be created to spring up in the future. Although the common law recognised a use in chattels from an early period, it was clear by the end of the fourteenth century that land law had no room for this notion. Uses, nonetheless, satisfied contemporary needs in fifteenth century England. Its first application in relation to land was to protect the ownership of the land by the Franciscan Monks, who were pledged to vows of poverty and unable to own land. This enabled the feoffee to uses for the benefit of a cestui que use. The common law did not recognise the cestui que use but affirmed the right of ownership by feoffee to use.
The term "use" translates into "Trust" and this was the legal beginning of Trusts and the use of trusts to defeat feudal, death and tax dues.

How to Fire a Mortar?
This is a 60 mm Cannon it can be operated in Handheld Mode or Conventional Mode using these Bipods legs.
When Dropped the round activates the detonators through the firing pin, triggering the propellant charge
The greater the number of charges, the farther the round will travel.
In Hand held Mode The mortar is aligned alongside the muzzle for azimuth, and observe the range scale on the handle for elevation.
In simple terms raising the Barrel at Higher angle the round will travel less further while Decreasing the angle results with the round travelling much further.
This is how he aim the crosshair, he uses both hands and adjusts the tripod elevation using the knob as shown in the animations all in the video ahead so stay tuned and don’t miss a beat.

SCORPION: The Fastest Mobile Mortar System in the World
Check out this live-fire demonstration of our SCORPION Mobile Mortar System. It is a fully digital, automated mortar system that features a Shoot & Scoot capability able to fire 8 rounds in 2 minutes. The SCORPION shown here is set atop a Toyota Landcruiser, but SCORPION can be mounted on any 1.5 ton truck. It also features a “non-seating” baseplate — designed to NOT dig into the ground — enabling two key advantages: 1) recoil forces are taken off the vehicle, and 2) a 24-second departure; therefore NOT allowing enemy forces to back azimuth your location.
Other Features:

It is a fully digital, automated mortar system that features a Shoot & Scoot capability able to fire 8 rounds in 2 minutes. The SCORPION shown here is set atop a Toyota Landcruiser, but SCORPION can be mounted on any 1.5 ton truck. It also features a “non-seating” baseplate — designed to NOT dig into the ground — enabling two key advantages: 1) recoil forces are taken off the vehicle, and 2) a 24-second departure; therefore NOT allowing enemy forces to back azimuth your location.
Other Features:
• Fires both 81mm and 120mm (barrels are interchangeable)
• From parking vehicle to rounds down range in 45 seconds
• Drive away (after last shot) in 24 seconds
• Eliminates the recoil effect caused by shooting on a vehicle.
• Fire Control System (FCS) knows its location as well as its ssigned targets, including a ballistic calculation system for multiple munition types.
• FCS can be operated from inside the cab and/or from outside the vehicle via tablet.
•
Lightweight and can be deployed by helicopter or other aircraft.

This is how he aim the crosshair, he uses both hands and adjusts the tripod elevation using the knob as shown in the animations all in the video ahead so stay tuned and don’t miss a beat.

civil war demonstration of a mortar at Gettysburg
update: although I am not sure if this was historical, this is real. Mortar Crews during the civil war did have exploding shells but probably not this good. Still...real, unedited video.
