The island has an area of 21 square kilometres (8.1sqmi). In the 2001 census, the population was recorded as 3,543 inhabitants, with a population density of 169 inhabitants per square kilometre. The official language is Dutch, but English is the "language of everyday life" on the island and education is solely in English. A local English-based creole is also spoken informally. Travellers to the island by air arrive through F.D. Roosevelt Airport.
The flag of Sint Eustatius was adopted on 16 November 2004 (Statia Day). The island's flag was designed by Zuwena Suares.
Description
The flag is rectangular with the colors blue, red, white, gold and green, and divided in four five-sided blue squares, each fimbriated red. In its center is a diamond-form white field; in the diamond is the silhouette of the island in green. In the center in the top of the diamond is a five-pointed golden star.

St. Eustatius, a Glimpse of..
I decided to create a video before I left the island of St. Eustatius in dedication to the island and her people after living on this beautiful piece of unspoiled (cultural) paradise for two years. I've tried to make the video open for interpretations of all sorts.
My personal experience is that the diverse culture (20 different nationalities) and history in this special municipality of Holland ("in the books") is incredibly friendly & social.
Because of the size of the island (21 km2) all the individuals (3500+) living on the "Golden Rock" play an important role in the island economy and social structures.
The island has developed her own rich & open culture, one that is different and in ways much socially richer than "typical" Western structures.

Some know the beautiful views, houses, monuments & forts on the island of St. Eustatius, and I've tried to capture the things visitors normally don't see..
I've chosen to keep this video as objectively as possible, keeping the focus on things visitors may overlook in their "haste". Young people who prepare for fishing, local people going in the vulcano (Quill) to hunt goat, crabs; gathering fruits along the (traditional) way.
Cars overgrown with Coralita (brought to the island by a foreigner) narrated to nature, like the plant is a part of the exterior of the island itself. The inside of 200 year old houses that you perhaps "normally" just walk past & friendly inhabitants willing to have friendly conversations.
Aside from all the special things present, there are also extremely unique places that I personally encountered. Places that are incredibly atmospheric and carry a touch of pure peacefulness.
There are a lot of spots like this on the island of St. Eustatius.
If you want to go and experience a Glimpse yourself, don't miss out on this little island in the Caribbean, it's truly unique, unspoiled & hardly influenced by Western society.
If you want to know more about this very special and beautiful piece of the World, please check this link: http://bit.ly/1gdNUQl .
I would like to say a big thanks to Yuri Kneppers and Niels Boven for lending me a couple of beautiful lenses so I was able to capture this beautiful footage even better with my Sony camera.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me if I am still around during that time :) www.robhelmink.com

This is ZoubeirsWorld. Visiting all countries in the world.
Sometimes I also visit territories that are not recognised as a country.
My main goal is to collect as many countries as possible.
I am not the type of traveler to rush through all the countries just for a few days. I take my time during my travels because I also want to enjoy the destinations that I visit.
Let's walk on the island of Statia / Sint Eustatius

I would like to say a big thanks to Yuri Kneppers and Niels Boven for lending me a couple of beautiful lenses so I was able to capture this beautiful footage even better with my Sony camera.
