Electric Arguments is the third album by The Fireman, an experimental music duo consisting of Paul McCartney and producer Youth. The album was first announced 29 September 2008, on Paul McCartney's website, and was released on 24 November 2008 on the duo's website. It is the first Fireman release to be publicly acknowledged by McCartney, and the album cover features the names of both contributors.
Background and recording
Unlike the earlier Fireman albums, Electric Arguments features prominent vocals. Each of the songs was recorded in one day, the album itself being completed in only thirteen days, spread over the course of a year. The album includes the hidden track "Road Trip", at the end of "Don't Stop Running".Remixes of "Lifelong Passion" were made, titled "Sawain Ambient Acapella" and "Sawain Instrumental Dub".Instrumental mixes of "Sun Is Shining" and "Traveling Light" were made, titled "Equinox Instrumental" and "Travelling Light Instrumental", respectively.Instrumental dub mixes were made of "Sing the Changes" and "Don't Stop Running", titled "Morning Mist Instrumental Dub" and "Wickerman Ambient Dub", respectively.
Taylor wrote "Highway Song" in 1970 and he began playing it in live concerts during 1970, well before the release on Mudslide Slim and the New Horizon.
Rolling Stone Magazine critic Ben Gerson contrasts "Highway Song" with another song on Mudslide Slim and the Blue Horizon, "Mud Slide Slim," by noting that "Highway Song" provides "a more philosophical, realistic analysis" by acknowledging that "a person chooses his circumstances as much as circumstances choose him." The song describes a journey, in which the highway represents punishment but also, according to Gerson, "has an irresistable, sinister allure." According to Taylor biographer Timothy White, the song was inspired by the difficult traveling Taylor had to do now since becoming a star musician with the release of his first two albums, as well his own confusion about being the center of attention in his family at the time his brothers and sister were also embarking on musical careers.Los Angeles Times columnist Dan Neil links Taylor's "Highway Song" with Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" as songs of "wanderlust," in which the road is used as a metaphor for the replacement of adventure and faith for security and certainty. Author Grace Lichtenstein described Gram Parson's "Grievous Angel" as being a "first cousin" to "Highway Song" in its "lament about purposelessness and need for love."

Its members, six guys from Spartanburg, had scored hit albums and recorded such classic songs as “Can’t You See” and “Take the Highway.” They’d played shows across the United States and toured Europe.

“These songs are the original mixes done at the time of the recordings in the order I planned for the album ... The album preceded 1978’s Comes a Time and three songs — Goin’ Back, HumanHighway and Field of Opportunity — that appear on both records.
Per an official description these two full-length efforts “share the same country/folk sound, and three songs (‘Goin’ Back’, ‘HumanHighway’ and ‘Field of Opportunity’) appear on both albums”.
