The BRUTAL Execution Of Henry VIII's LAST Victim - Henry Howard
Henry VIII today is known for being an incredibly brutal King who would happily order the executions of thousands of his own people inside England. However the Tudor monarch would even execute some of his closest advisors and friends, and also a number of the highest class inside Tudor society. His final victim would be Henry Howard, the Earl of Surrey who would be executed days before the infamous King would died.
Henry Howard is known for being a man who made many enemies inside the royal court, had a temper but also was a talented poet. He would travel on many military expeditions but following a failed battle in France, he would return to England and was subject to the King's suspicious mind. Henry VIII in his dying days would consider Henry Howard a threat, and began to become suspi...

Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk Updated and Narrated
Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk (1473 – 1554) He was the Earl of Surrey from 1514 and he was a prominent Tudor politician. He was an uncle of two of the wives of King Henry VIII of England, namely Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, both of whom were beheaded, and played a major role in the machinations affecting these royal marriages. After falling from favour in 1546, he was stripped of the dukedom and imprisoned in the Tower of London, avoiding execution when King Henry VIII died on 28 January 1547. He was released on the accession of the Roman Catholic queen, Mary I of England, whom he aided in securing her throne, thus setting the stage for tensions between his Catholic family and the Protestant royal line that would be continued by Queen Mary's half-sister, Queen Elizabeth I of Engl...

The BRUTAL Execution Of The Ridolfi Plot - Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk
Throughout the reign of Elizabeth I, the Queen of England faced a large number of plots which aimed at deposing Elizabeth and placing Mary Queen of Scots onto the throne. Some of these plots even planned to assassinate and kill Elizabeth I, but one of the earliest plans was the Ridolfi Plot. This was a European attempt to take down the Queen and place Catholic Mary onto the throne, and even the Spanish King Phillip II and the Pope even gave permission and encouraged the overthrowing.
Elizabeth's spies would uncover the Ridolfi Plot, and with this one of the most wealthy and powerful men in England would be implicated in the plan. Thomas Howard, the 4th Duke of Norfolk owned a huge amount of land, but he had agreed to help support Ridolfi and the plan, and even planned to marry Mary Queen...

Because of this, Henry VIII managed to convince many at court of the Earl of Surrey's supposed guilt. From this Henry Howard was then sentenced to death and was executed in brutal fashion on Tower Hill in front of a huge crowd. His father Thomas Howard, the Duke of Norfolk was also sentenced to death for treason, but would escape his fate as a day before the execution was due to take place, King Henry VIII would die. Because of this, Henry Howard the Earl of Surrey would become the final person to be executed by Henry VIII.

Thomas Howard, the 4th Duke of Norfolk owned a huge amount of land, but he had agreed to help support Ridolfi and the plan, and even planned to marry Mary Queen of Scots once she was on the throne. Howard had a lot to gain, but when the plot was discovered he had been committing treason. The plot even involved the Duke of Alba invading England with an army, supported by the Spanish and the Pope.
The standard sentence for being found guilty of treason was death, with the offender being hanged, drawn and quartered. Thomas Howard was sentenced to death, but Elizabeth I would spare him this and commuted his sentence to a beheading. Thomas was executed by an axeman on Tower Hill in bloody Tudor fashion, but the effects of the Ridolfi Plot were big. Despite Howard's execution, suspicion against Mary Queen of Scots would escalate and she was kept under even closer guard.

Agnes Howard - The SCANDALOUS Duchess Of Norfolk
During the reign of King Henry VIII, he was a man with a wandering eye for women. This led to the notorious king having 6 wives, and infamously two of these were executed inside the Tower of London. The executions of the Queens shocked the nation, but one Queen was spared no remorse and was beheaded using the commoner’s axe. Catherine Howard after her execution was then allegedly buried in the Chapel of St Peter ad Vincula, and Henry VIII was so outraged by her betrayal that he ordered her body to be covered in quicklime, as if she was simply erased from history. Catherine was accused of adultery and treason behind the King’s back, but she’s seen today as a victim of advantageous men who was manipulated. Within her upbringing she suffered from this, and was supposed to be looked after by her step grandmother, Agnes Tilney, or Agnes Howard the Duchess of Norfolk.
